The dispatcher said that the truck would be around w/in the hour: tow truck arrived in 10 minutes. 2) Jumpstarted my car, let the battery run for a bit, and recommended that I take it immediately to a shop so that they can check the battery or alternator. Otherwise, I'd need another jump as soon as I turned off the engine. 3) Dispatcher and tow truck driver were polite and professional. The not great: 1) Expensive - though I honestly don't really remember how much I paid the last time I needed a truck to come out. The company booted my car for no reason after I simply parked, walked my wife and kids to a friends house, and returned to shop. When we discovered the boot the guy who appeared to remove it was belligerent and seemingly intoxicated. When I asked him to wear his mask he began to personally insult me, including calling me an idiot. This behavior is extremely disrespectful and abhorrent. Worst company ever! I was scheduled to have roadside assistance by them and initially they told me their ETA was 90mins and I waited for 2 hours only to find out no one showed up?! I'm stuck waiting and no one ever called me or notified me! I finally called my insurance to only find out that Al's has canceled the service and did not notify anyone!!! When he got to my truck he instantly identified the problem (which was not a dead battery, just a loose bolt), and then kindly waived the fee for his time. This was excellent service, kind attention, and consideration for my wallet. Wish I could give them zero stars. Al's towing was hired by my HOA for towing enforcement. Without the knowledge of my HOA, they subcontracted towing to Battlefield Towing. My car was towed and I had to hunt down who actually had my car. When I finally found it was Battlefield, I had two wait two hours in an isolated storage lot for one of their drivers to come meet me. The icing on the cake was finding my hood and side view mirror were scratched. The driver and dispatchers were also rude. If Al's chooses to have another company do their business, they are responsible for damages. I have filed a claim with BBB against both companies. If you are ever towed to their "shared lot" with Battlefield Towing, be advised that there is no office building. You have to wait by a fence in an isolated area for a driver to finally show up. Apparently it is legal to tow a car for not having a parking permit when there are absolutely no signs posted within the neighborhood that a permit is required. Furthermore, I have been parking there for MONTHS and have not even received a WARNING that my car needed a permit so that I could park WHERE I LIVE. Worst place ever. FIRST OF ALL. I had just bought a car and parked on the street parking of my apartment place. I had only temporary permit to park. I didn't know I couldn't park there because you had to have the apartment decal????? Damn. I parked there for 3 nights and then the next day... my car wasn't there. My apartment office told me Al's Towing had it and had to pay. I had a huge argument with my apartment office but they are dumb and didn't do anything. So I'm mad now and went with my dad with our other car. The lady at the front desk was so rude. I had spoken to her about the car and concerns over the phone before heading over there. Worst service ever. I paid $180 to get my car back. They said that they come every night and tow BUT?????? If they come every night, my car would have been towed the 1st night right??? So THEY don't do the job. I didn't even receive a WARNING STICKER. WOW. Also keep in mind, *new car* so I checked my car and the back is SCRATCHED. they can't tell me they didn't do it. But guess what! They denied it. So I asked for pictures and they said the driver that night took them so we would be fine. I'm like ok. I gave them my email address. I vary rarely take the time to write reviews - good or bad - but Al's Towing Falls Church location provided such exceptional service in an industry plagued by such bad impressions. A friend of ours suffered a serious medical event while he was coaching some kids and was rushed to the hospital. In the days and weeks following, he had no idea where his car was due to some memory loss associated with the episode. A few weeks later when he did learn where his car had been towed, he was disheartened to hear how long it had been stored on the towing lot because that usually adds up to a big bill (after all, even towing companies have rent and other expenses to pay). He had the documentation to support his reason for leaving the car in the parking lot of the business and when the owner heard the full account, reduced the fee to release the car. Sometimes there truly are extenuating circumstances and our friend is eternally grateful that Willie of Al's Towing in Falls Church dealt with his issue with such compassion. Our friend suffered other injuries when he collapsed, but his concern over a possible brain issue is not compounded by a bad experience paying more than he could afford to get his car back. Financial strains can add stress and he will not be able to work for a while from the incident - thank you Willie for helping him out with the total bill. One more thing, Al's filled the tires, especially one that had gone flat, so friends of our friend who went to pick up the car would not have any trouble driving it. The people here clearly do not like hearing the phrase "I believe you are wrong sir". These words seemed the through them in to a frenzy, where one gentlemen proceeded to call me B****. I felt so disrespected, and could not help but think how unprofessional this was. When I politely asked for the gentleman's name who towed my vehicle (in case there are any damages) and the gentleman name who was yelling obscenities towards me, I was refused the names of anyone that worked at this trailer trash towing company. On top of the terrible experience and treatment, my car is a manual, so not towing the car on a flat bed truck was plain irresponsible. Who knows the damage this will cause in the long run. They towed at Saturday night, charged $135 inspection expired + $25 road service (what the fuck did I ask for it!?) + $25 weekend labor (what the fuck, again) And they may tow my car on Sunday night again because I have no way to do inspection on Sunday. He came up really fast out of nowhere in the right lane just before we merged at Adessa and just came over in my lane without even signaling and would have hit me if I hadn't slammed on my brakes. If you're in need of a tow, you're obviously having a bad day, which in turn makes everything else seem that much worse. I called up Al's Towing because my Mini wouldn't engage Reverse gear and I couldn't get it out of the parking lot and to the shop. Within the hour, they had a driver outside. His name is Melvin, and he was very polite and professional, and right from the beginning he made a stressful situation feel that much better. He asked what the problem was, took a look in the car, and really eased my mind by telling me that my car didn't need a brand new clutch, it just needed new linkage cables (much, much cheaper to fix). Also, turns out he was right. Not only was he very nice and professional in diffusing a stressful situation, he was knowledgeable and really eased my mind. I thought the price was a little high - $85 for hookup, then $4 per mile after that - but honestly it was probably a pretty fair price. Very satisfied customer. read more

Our problem with Al's started after the tow was completed and payment (including a $20 tip to the driver) was made by MasterCard. This took place on June 24, 2009, after our BMW was towed from Kingstowne to BMW of Arlington, Earlier this week, Eddie from Al left one of the most belligerent, threatening and unprofessional messages I have ever heard because he claimed that we hadn't paid the $135 charge. He phoned BMW of Arlington about it and even threatened to take us to court. We faxed a copy of the credit card statement clearly showing the charge on June 24. His excuse - "we had a new clerk who didn't record the payment to the invoice so I had to go and collect it." My suggestion to Eddie - CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD PROCESSING STATEMENTS AND COMPARE THEM TO YOUR INVOICES BEFORE YOU GO OFF THREATENING PEOPLE! This could save you a lot of headaches and possible legal action. I am planning to file a complaint with the Towing and Recovery Association of America (TRAA). Al's claims that their towers are all certified by the TRAA. They must all have missed the accounting and customer service modules of the pre-certification education. This is a quote from Al's website: "Each driver is certified by the Towing Recovery Association of America (T.R.A.A.) and average ten years experience in the towing industry. All of our drivers possess strong work ethics and always uphold a professional, polished appearance. " Really? Prove it! read more

Car was search and contents documented by the police because it was left beside the road after a crash on black ice. A net book computer was recorded by the police located in the trunk of the car. When discovered that the net book was missing I contacted the police. I was informed by the police that they do not have access to the impound lot that it is owned by the towing company AL's Towing. I called AL's Towing and was told by an employee that the manager was not in the office and received no return calls with messages left to call me. Today March 8, 2012, the manager finally answer the phone and I explained to him what occurred. His response was, I called the police and they have 18 cameras and because the car was not searched before the car was removed from the lot there's now way for me to prove it was in the car. when I tried to explain again that the net book was in the car according to the police and no one else had access to the car except AL's Towing the manager became defiant and raised his voice, and said you can not prove it. We called Al's Toyota based on a recommendation from Koons Toyota in Tyson's. The service agent who came was extremely helpful and we appreciated his professionalism. We did not have the same experience as others with the receptionist, in fact the receptionist was quite pleasant. Be aware!This company tows illegaly!!! My car has been towed from my apartment complex parking lot. All tags and stickers are up to date. The parking permit was clearly displayed on the rear window. After calling their office they released the car with no payment due. No good reason for this tow was given. It caused me a major headache and inconvenience. I had to pay for a taxi to get my car. Time will tell what further demage has been caused by their improper handling.
