Back at blueberry picking! Go prepared and bring a flat and white bag to stack your fruit. We went at peak blueberry season again this year. This time we brought our one and a half year-old daughter. Blueberries are her favorite food and we figured she'd have the time of her life. And learn about where blueberries come from... It seems like blueberries were slightly less abundant this year. We came in very peak season. Some bushes tasted better than others, which is probably true anywhere. We picked mostly in the blueberry bushes towards the back of the field. If you do that, the grass is very tall. We were climbing through 1 foot to 2 foot tall grass between the bushes (luckily, no ticks!) This year we also picked sunflowers. They were only $2 / stem. They are the giant sunflowers, though, so there's a lot of pollen, a lot of bugs, and they grow to be a massive size. I brought home 10 and they wilted very fast in the car. If you are planning to take some flowers home with you, think about bringing a bucket with water for the car ride. Overall, another fun experience. Will probably be back next year! read more

What isn't here? This farm has something for everyone! We visited for a friend's kid's birthday party, but we've also been here before for strawberry picking. On a nice summer day, it's a great place to spend a few hours with family. If you have kids, they'll absolutely love it. There are pony rides, horse rides, wagon rides, bounce houses, and lots of farm animals like chickens, roosters, sheep, cows, horses, alpacas, and more. You'll also find tractors, haystacks, and all the little farm-themed things that make the place fun. Just remember--it's a farm, not a theme park! Depending on the season, you can pick strawberries, apples, berries, and other fresh produce. There's also live music, and the food options are surprisingly good. One thing I noticed was that they host a lot of private events. During our visit, I saw several birthday parties, a baby shower, and other family gatherings. They have spaces that you can rent for different occasions. Parking: Plenty of parking is available. It's not paved, but there's lots of space on grass and gravel, and we had no trouble finding a spot. Overall, this is a wonderful family-friendly farm with plenty to do. Nice spot. First time here but taken back by the cost of what you get. We toured the farm, saw the animals and picked apples and pumpkins. Price for apple picking ticket was $44 per person. Take a look at the bag give (picture attached) you could only fit about 6-8 apples. Each person had to buy a ticket as it allowed access into the farm. $88 for two people and 16 apples. Wild! Pumpkins were extra. Farm itself is beautiful but don't think I would buy a ticket again. You can go listen to live music and order cider or coffee. read more

We came here to celebrate fall festivities. The farm is in a beautiful area of New Jersey, and the farm itself is beautiful. When we pulled in, it was very busy but we had no trouble finding parking. There is a main area, which is free to enter. They sell food and drinks here, which is where I purchased the caramel apple nachos. These were a great idea. They're way less sticky and messy than regular caramel apples because you can eat them with a fork. They layer the caramel and apples so you get just enough caramel in each bite. The apples also come with a topping (M&Ms, sprinkles, etc.) but I preferred mine plain. The main area also has a produce stand, a small petting zoo, a place to buy pumpkins and corn, and a live band. Overall the farm is great and we had a lot of fun. I am knocking off a few starts because there is another part of the farm that you have to wait in line for and purchase a pass for. This part of the farm is for apple picking, pumpkin picking, produce picking, and hayrides. Having to wait on a line and purchase a pass ruined the vibe a bit. Most places let you ride the hay ride for free and you can still explore the picking areas without paying extra, and then choose if you want to purchase anything. Here, you are completely blocked off from accessing the fields unless you pay a hefty price for a pass. read more

Two Manhattanites seeking a true American summer experience hit the jackpot with Alstede Farms. We did Pick-Your-Own and left with a bounty: peaches, sweet corn, peppers, eggplant, and wildflowers, plus a renewed sense of seasonal joy. We skipped the tractor shuttle and walked the whole way, which added to the charm under perfect skies. Inside the farm store, we shared two scoops of on-site made ice cream, cherry pistachio and peach; and both were unforgettable. These flavors deserve distribution in NYC. We stocked up on F.R.O.G. jam (fig, raspberry, orange, ginger), strawberry rhubarb preserves, peach mango salsa, and tortilla chips so fresh they belong in high-end Mexican restaurants. The sourdough bread was bakery-quality, and the fudge, while not quite Mackinac or Shore-style, was still delicious. The staff across the board, from the ticket booth to the fields to the market, were friendly, helpful, and clearly proud of what they do. The crowd was a healthy mix: families, couples, and people of all ages, each taking in the country air. Facilities were clean, and everything felt well-run. We'd absolutely go back, and recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic summer day trip. It's not cheap, but it's not overpriced either, and you get what you pay for, real food, fresh air, and an unforgettable farm experience. Man what a drive from the city to get to a farm! Came out here in late October and it's such a cute farm! Unlike most other farms, you don't have to pay to park and you don't have to pay to get to the farm. You only just buy what you wanna take home if you wanna go Apple picking and do the activities you can buy a wristband for that as well, but to come and hang out listen to music eat some good food And enjoy the animals won't break the bank. Family friendly. My kids had a great time and so did my in-laws. The town itself is super cute. If you have a chance to go check it out it's a small little Main Street, but it has a lot of charm to it. The lines get pretty big for food. The farm stand itself is pretty good. Our default NJ farm in the last 2 years. Started with strawberries, then blueberries and peaches. Last visit, apples. They have plenty of varieties. That adult corn maze is no joke! Well managed farm. Plenty of activities for kids. Go early during weekends. Entrance fee does get expensive with the add-ons for kids activities. Hayride is nice and long. Market is great. This is a really beautiful massive working farm with so many different pick your own fruits depending on the season (I was there for peaches). Be ready to drop some serious $$$, this place is expensive (the sticker shock from the farm store, $10 for a pint of strawberries although they did look delicious). Alstede is probably the biggest and most popular public access farm in NJ. Gets super crowded during the weekends, so better to early and purchase tickets online to save time. They do have to lots of parking attendances to maintain the flow of cars, including one way entrance and exits. The center part of the location has ice cream stall, henhouse which is their restaurant, hot and cold coffee shop, tents for sitting area. The birthday party area, wagon wheel, animal feed, pony ride and bounce house all those things are within walkable distance. Live music is performed around the this place as well. The food served here is decent but very high prices. To pick your own fruits/vegetables/pumpkins you have to take wagon ride. Most of those roads are not paved, so lots of bumps and dust. I didn't bring any face cover but really wish I had one. The farm area is huge, lots of apple trees, huge pumpkin field, peaches, corn and variety of vegetables picking fields available. Despite all the good things there are some major inconveniences I felt during my visit. At peak time, to get any kind of food or drink it takes more than 30 minutes of wait time. The bathroom stalls are placed in main area and around the picking fields but they are not maintained throughout the day. The foot pump operated water stations run out of soup and water by 2pm. Kids have major problems using these. I hope the farm works towards improving visitor experience. read more

Everyone who knows us, knows this is our favorite farm. 1.5 hour drive from home and you'll find us spending a whole summer day here picking fruits and vegetables, enjoying hot corn and our FAVORITE blueberry ice cream (top fav is the one mixed with peach), and relaxing with the live band, wine tastings and farm animals. Be prepared to walk a-lot, bring a hat, a large Stanley of water and some sunscreen. Only downside is that it can be a little pricey. Alstede is an absolutely gorgeous farm. The grounds are extensive and you can find absolutely everything here. There's an ice cream shop, a farm store, U-pick fruits, multiple food stands, hard cider, live music, hay rides, hay mazes, animals to pet and feed, pony rides, an evergreen tree maze, photo opportunities and so much more. Parking is easy, bathrooms are a level above porta potties and there's even a baby changing area. I'd consider this the 'Disney World' of local farms, and because of that it can definitely get packed out. Especially on a fall weekend. We came for strawberry picking and it was lovely. There was an abundance of fresh strawberries and they were ripe, sweet and juicy perfection. Just a few things to note. To pick the strawberries you'll need to wait for a hay ride up into the fields. There are only two tractors, so the wait is around 20-30 minutes each way, plus a 15 minute ride to the fields. Factor in at least an extra hour with this. If I had known I wouldn't have done it with little kids, and probably would have went to Ort up the street. They have much more accessible picking. But... the views from the hayride are gorgeous and obviously it's a fun experience. The only downside to all of this amazingness is the hefty price tag. Strawberry picking is 30.00 with tax. This is STEEEEEP. This does include filling the quart with strawberries (thank god) but still wildly expensive. And for that price, I think the farm could probably afford adding in a few more tractors into the rotation and making sure that both have sun covers (only one did, and if you got stuck on that tractor it was just too hot). Overall it's a gorgeous farm, there is so much to do and it's a great place to go for a fun family outing. read more

Came here on the Sunday before Indigenous People's Day and boy was it busy! Everyone we encountered working here was so friendly! We were looking for a game to come pick our pumpkins and for our child to enjoy his time with kid friendly activities. Alstede Farms has a corn and evergreen trail that come with your fall ticket as well as a huge haystack "mountain" the kids will love. The bounce house, pony ride and other activities are at an extra cost and we already paid a steep $112 for 3 people so we did not experience those extras but our child did enjoy the evergreen trail and haystack mountain, he enjoys farms period so we naturally got lucky there. :) They had live music, a hot food stand, homemade ice cream, candy apples, a store and a hard cider area for 21+ It was very busy so expect to wait in line for ice cream and hot food for at least 30 min. We tried the apple cider donut sandwich which was pretty good. I would've loved the donut to be warm and have the option to get other ice cream flavors not just vanilla or chocolate but I'm glad I tried it! My son enjoyed his maple créeme milk shake with an apple cider donut on top! And my husband enjoyed his apple cider slush as well. The farm is so big, you can take the tractors to several of the stops they have along the way (apples, pumpkins, sunflower field, corn maze and vegetable picking OR you can get your steps and exercise in walking to these stops, too. We did a little bit of both and it was a nice sunny fall day so it was enjoyable. Pay for your ticket online in advance so you don't have to wait in the line day of--it was pretty long. Wear comfy shoes you don't care getting dusty from the dirt too and stay hydrated especially on a sunny warm day. We'd definitely come back here! I'd love to try a weekday where there may be less people. Came here with family in the fall! We were a party of four, so we got the family bundle which included admission to the PYO section of the farm, a large box of produce, as well as other farm activities! Initially, I thought it was overpriced (about $36 PER PERSON) but had a great experience in the end and would do it again. We came on a beautiful Saturday in the afternoon, and the parking situation was pretty crazy. Once we parked though, it was a fun and lovely experience checking in and navigating the farm! It was hugely helpful that we bought tickets online and in advance, as it was cheaper and also let us skip the line. The staff on the farm are super helpful and nice. I thought it was SO cool that you could pick veggies too and weren't limited to just apples. We ended up filling our box with fresh beets, cilantro, peppers, and sweet corn! We only got a few apples as many of the varieties we like were already picked bare. Overall, it was a great day at the farm and had a blast picking vegetables. Unfortunately, I missed the boat on taking pictures because this place is massive and has so much to offer. We purchased tickets ahead of time and for a family of 4 it came to $116. Not cheap by any means. But the nice thing is you get an option to fill your box with other items than apples which you would not find a traditional Orchard. And you are paying for the experience, not the produce. We arrived a little after 10 AM and had so much fun hanging out with all the animals and exploring the property. It was still pretty quiet and not that many people at this time. They have so much to offer besides produce picking such as live music, food, drink and a little convenient store. We spent a good 1 hour with the animals before even making our way towards the Apple orchards. Once we got onto the hayride, we did some initial picking of apples. This place is organized with a map which is needed because it's so large, but we were able to narrow down which particular ones we wanted and stick to those areas. I also wanted some eggplant and tomatoes so we made our way down to that section. Since it was a long walk we came across blackberries and raspberries. Delicious sweet treats. We ended our day by visiting the peach patch. I believe they have 2 different kinds, possibly 3. They were incredibly juicy and sweet and made it home without any bumps and scratches. When we finally left around 2 PM it was so busy and the lines were super long by the food and beverage areas. The music was going and everyone looked like they were having a great time. read more

I visited Alstede Farms during strawberry picking season, and it was a great experience overall. However, it is on the pricey side at $30 per person, which includes one small box. I went with someone who doesn't like strawberries, so I only wanted to pay for an entry ticket for him without a box, but they didn't allow that, so I had to buy two tickets with two boxes. They have a couple of tractors to drive you to the field, which is nice so you don't have to walk. As for the "petting zoo," they only have an alpaca, and the rest of the chickens and birds are locked in cages, so you can't touch them. The strawberries were delicious, and it was cute to see all the children covered in red juice all over their shirts and mouths. As you leave the farm, they make everyone go through a special bag check area to ensure you didn't take more than you're supposed to, so make sure you don't have sticky fingers and do the right thing. read more

This is ONE BIG A-- FARM with lots of family fun activities. I had heard and read great things about Alstede and the fact that it was a great place for the kids, so we decided to FINALLY make a trip out on a sunny, but very brisk Sunday in mid-October and our kids really, really, really enjoyed their time here. Even though it was probably the coldest day of the season to date, the farm was as crowded as can be, but with all of the real estate here, there was still PLENTY of space to roam around freely. First, admission is not cheap. It was $29 just for a ticket and 5lb bag, so make sure to get your money's worth of fruits and vegetables. However, once you make it in, you'll know where all of that money went because the apple-picking field was huge and, in some cases, you probably want to take the hay ride to areas of your desire. In addition, other fruits and vegetables were there for the picking - berries, corn, eggplant, tomatoes - although some of this stuff was not in season. Besides the spacious apple-picking trails, there's a large picnic area with many tables for dining. You can, and this is what I love about this place, bring your own food OR you can purchase the fast food sold here (e.g. pizza, burgers, etc.) Oh, and don't forget about the apple cider donuts, which they have multiple locations to purchase from. Next to the picnic area is also the farm market, which was very busy. Most customers were purchasing pies and donuts, but they also sold plenty of fruits and vegetables, which I assume were all grown at the farm. The apple-picking was fun, the hay ride was adventurous, the entire farm is spacious and the farm animals on site are nice for the kids to interact with, but the highlight of the day for me was clearly the mmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmmmm maple creemee. What is the maple creemee and why am I seemingly spelling "cream" wrong? Well, first, it's not wrong and, second, it was one of the most, amazingly delicious desserts I had in a very, very, very, very, very long time. And, to describe it, well, it's, according to their description, caramel drizzle w/ homemade maple ice cream topped w/ an apple cider doughnut, whipped cream & cinnamon. Need I say more? Word of advice - don't leave this farm without trying it because it will put you in a VERY good (and, potentially) sleepy mood. We're still making our way from farm to farm in the state, but, it's hard for me to believe that there are many at the family fun level of Alstede. Probably one of the best farms out there and well worth the price of admission. read more

Alstede has truly become one of my favorite farms for the fall season. It is an absolute madhouse on the weekends so try to plan your trip accordingly. They also have a mini Tomasello winery tent where you can try their hard ciders and wines on the property and it is well worth the cost. The tasting was very inexpensive then we bought a few bottles to drink and for home. The blueberry hard cider was out of this world delicious. Additionally I recommend their pomegranate wine it was more bitter in flavor but a perfect balance from the sweet blueberry. Alstede has a great option for a food truck for fresh coffee and doughnuts. Then a farm stand with fresh produce and snacks, and the actual farm store. They have plenty of options from apples, to berries, and even potatoes for picking your own. It is a huge property but a great all day event whether it's for a date or a group outing you will have a fantastic time. read more

We walked to blueberries and picked for a little bit, then took the wagon all the way around to get back to our start since we didn't allot enough time to do much more. It's a big farm. I advise you to use the tractor wagon option because we thought we could navigate the grounds but definitely could not. To get to the vegetable area you really need to get on the tractor as I have no idea how you could even get there while lugging a box. The staff were very sweet, but many I ran into couldn't direct me to find anything. 'Where are the Fuji apples?' 'Where are the vegetables?' 'Where are the peaches?' It was a little frustrating and getting hotter while the littles were getting tired and over heated. For the most part; it's a fine farm with lots of options. If I lived closer, I could see this being a great weekend activity. However, I travelled for this and felt kind of cheated. - the hay pyramid; many bales were loose and soft when stepping on it and some weren't secured to the other bales so there were gaps. - the website seems to not reflect the actual B pickings or it's so unclear to find the produce as 50% there is no signage - feeding the animals; the animal feed where you put in money and you turn the knob; the feed shoots out and there are no containers to catch it with. You'll notice the floor directly underneath is littered with feed - was told I couldn't bring my stroller into the wagon, even if collapsed. Later saw many others with strollers/wagons collapsed and in the tractor wagon. This was particularly annoying as my kids were fatigued and I had to carry them everywhere towards the end. - I bought strawberries from the store for $7 a point. Two of the strawberries were molded and some of them were mushy. I bought them today and didn't store them in the car /heat before eating. Didn't realize until I washed them as they were buried at the bottom - it's 0.89 cents a pound for a pumpkin. That seems incredibly expensive for pumpkins. read more

Was able to visit the farm these past 2 Saturdays (don't ask). Reading the reviews, the complaint is the high price. Don't get me wrong, I did have sticker shock. But there's so many different things to pick like apples, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, peppers and tomatoes (raspberries not included in your pick your own bag/box). You also have access to the corn maze, the hayride, the haystack for kids to climb. And if you don't want to pay to pick the goods, you can hang out in front. There's the petting zoo, the store, and even food trucks with a live band playing. It's definitely a hangout spot, even dogs are welcome in that part. Be warned, you will spend more money on the homemade ice cream and the apple cider slush but if the family is happy, that's all that matters. read more

We went yesterday late afternoon to Alstede Farms. Very busy, would recommend if you go to the farm, go early morning because it does get packed and you're waiting on lines every where you walk. Went into the Farm store, lots of goodies you may crave between local honey, jams, pies, sauces, meats, teas, and much more. The store is small, however jam packed with a lot of love from all the good things you are surrounded by. Plenty of pumpkins, vegetables, gourds, roasted corn, food to buy and more displayed outside. If you get a ticket, you can scan a code and it's a PYO (pick your own), go on a hayride, corn maze, options to be included towards your ticket. If you go to the back, there are some animals you can pet and feed. They are adorable and provides facts about the animals when you walk around to look at them. Plenty of handwashing stations and outside bathrooms outside too. Bring your own hand sanitizer just in case. Workers are friendly, parking is readily available, credit cards and cash is accepted too. Please be kind to the people navigating you when you enter to Alstede Farms. We witnessed two different drivers almost running them over yesterday, everyone should be mindful. Came home with mulled Apple Cider, Apple Cider doughnuts, Pumpkin pie, Peach pie, Red Wine Vinegar and candied apples with peanuts. We tried the Peach pie, Pumpkin pie, and the Mulled Apple Cider last night- so delicious. If you go here, try their items for sure. Not pictured is an Apple cookie from the farm store. This review is only about strawberry picking back in June This place is a commercial place for sure!! Maybe the most popular for PYO farm, like everyone goes there for pick your own anything!! We went there for strawberry this time.. the ticket included entrance fee, hayride to the field, and a container for strawberry!! Hayride is probably the only way you can reach the farm since this is located pretty far away from the entrance.. they have a pretty big field, and it smell like strawberry as you approached.. but then if you have little toddler, it's hard to get to the inner part of the field.. the outside of the field is pretty much picked bare, or whatever is left... if you want better looking, bigger strawberry you will need to go inside!! The only thing about it is that this is hard to get strawberry not crushed!! Maybe this is my personal issue, but somehow, after I pick the strawberry, stack them up, the strawberry got all mushy!! Maybe they are too ripe? Maybe I pack them too tight? I am not sure... like I said before, going back and forth from the field require the wagon.. and with little toddler with me, carrying 3 containers of strawberry, my diaper bag, my toddler, my stroller, oh dear it was kind of a disaster for me!! I need 6 hands to be honest... maybe next time go with a group of 6 and maybe ask them for the tray instead of the little pint container? Who knows... but yeah, that was my "problem" Other then that, there are animal to watch on the outside, fruits market, and food market... sometime even with music entertainment!! The Pick your own option voice message said last arrival is between 3:30 to 4 pm--- asked to speak to the representative--- the woman who came on was absolutely awful and rude. After she said the last entry was 330-I was trying to get clarification because it was different info than the voice message - she interrupted me to say "like I said it's 330" with a very rude tone. Will never come here- plenty of better farms in the tri state area with people who actual know the meaning of customer service and kindness. read more

I recently went for the moon harvest and was super disappointed. They advertised it like it was grand thing and it wasn't . They had only one food truck, apple cider donut wasn't the best, no real entertainment, or bond fire. They need to make it better. Not worth the $20. read more

One of my favorite farms to go to. I love going to the store for fresh vegetables and pies. Easy to get in and out.

Very friendly staff and fresh produce. Definitely worth stopping in! I liked how many seasonal fruits and vegetables were available.

We had a lot of fun picking apples! The only snag we had was the hayride that dropped us off at the opposite end of the farm to so long to come back we almost walked the entire way. The apples were really heavy so it would've been nice to have the hayride more frequently. The sunflower field was a nice addition to visit. I just left our yearly fall festival and this year we went to Alstede. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The cider donuts are usually one of the main attractions and these were cold, dry and no flavor! We asked if they could warm them up and they said no... $4 for a dry donut we threw out. Aside from that, a nice farmers market but $42 to just enter the apple and pumpkin area. The price tag on this location is just not worth it unfortunately. read more
