I have had a long list of problems since my child began attending this disaster of a school. Of course a child's upbringing begins at home I am sure many parents are aware of that. Still that does not absolve our children's school from any form of responsibility that they have to our children. First and foremost it begins with the principal who at the top maintains order and governance as the spearhead giving direction, order and proper discipline to not only the students but to their employees and subordinates. Mr. Edwin Molina is anything but a proper leadership figure for this school. He makes parents aware that he is upholding children's education and growth into proper upstanding members of society although it's far from that. The school is plagued with many problems only fueled by his incompetence as a "principal" and why do I say that? Mr. Molina is one of the first to call DCFS on any parent at suspected child abuse at the home. Does not make the proper decisions in making sure it is actually true. Still granted it is correct to make sure a child is not a victim of child abuse. What about when there is on site child abuse? Bullying? When your child instead of coming home with a smile on their face of having a good day at school? When your child arrives home that they were ignored by a teacher or teacher's aide? When you hear your child express that a child had his eye poked out and the child responsible threatens to hurt and kill others at the school? That the child only got a suspension, a slap on the wrist? That the principal is nowhere to say a word? At that point its enough and parents take consideration to what school you entrust your child to. It is not fair to anyone's child to get a principal who is nothing but far below acceptable and irresponsible. This school is nothing but complete and utter disappointing as a proper school. Half the teachers act like they're training Navy SEALs instead of teaching high school, while the other half give enough homework to ruin your entire weekend. One is about 8 stories tall with NO windows (see pic)...what is the purpose of that?? What if there is a fire? This church has endless amounts of cash, they get the city to cater to their every needs, including special law enforcement from LAPD to sweep homeless people or anyone who looks unclean from the sidewalk in front of their church. I attended church there a few times, it was very quick and strange. I would never send my kids to that high school.

When i talked to her teacher Ms.Gomez i was disturbed by how careless she was about anything i said i was infuriated when she spoke to me condescendingly and referred to me as "sweety"in her catty attitude.. some staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, my child was moved classrooms for the next semester and her new kindergarten teacher Ms. Zalensky was amazing. She showed so much care and concern for her students, many students would return to visit her.

Volunteer opportunities are plentiful but never forced upon anyone; you can participate as little or as much as fits you. The community is welcoming and my kids are having a great time making friends and flourishing academically. Valley Charter is a hidden gem.

Project based learning that not only supports applied learning but collaboration and confidence building for kids. Our child has an IEP and we have never experienced anything other than a supportive environment/accommodations. the school gets some noise from the van nuys flight path, but the kids don't seem to mind at all.
