Good morning! And I wish the parents will speak up for our kids sake, when all the schools are closed due to the October 10th 11th San Fernando fire .but our school principal could postpone the homecoming party but resume school and bring in our kids in and keep them locked in a class room ok now I call her money hungry what do you guys call her if csun and the surrounding schools are shut down?

A good school that I usto ed to go and you get to make friends over there. You will also do different events in the school, like club rush, sports, and more. The teachers are required to ysuccessfule succful in when going to Niceally nice people, I hope you enjoyed it there and tell me how it is. It's a good school, but there are of fights in the school. But, I sometimes come over there of whats going on, or a mind my own business. Just have a good time at the school and I might see you there. Sometimes people can be really greeter of everything, so you have to be careful of what you saw in front of people.

Also be aware of one of the 8th grade history teachers if you are a sensitive person. So aggressive for you making one mistake. Yes I'm talking about you mIsS Garcia. Also if you get Mrs. Y Kim for math in 6th grade just ask to switch teachers. Too much vaping here too and kids getting prego. This school went downhill with the new principal. Please be sososso careful about the decisions you make here as a student and a parent here at this dipsh** of a school. What a waste of 3 years. This school also does a terrible job at handling sped kids. Poor children taking hard a** tests the teachers can't teach correctly and then you hear loud screaming sped kids screaming and crying outside and the "care" takers on them dam phones letting them do whatever. Also I have some rude staff listed here to watch out for: Ms. Garcia, Mrs. Aguilar, Mrs. Y Kim. There are som very kind staff I'll shout out yall cool: Ms. Cao, Mrs. Anselmo, Mrs. Hong, Mrs. Galeon, Ms. Ghookassian, Mr, Avina, Mr. Whittek, Mrs. Castañeda, Mrs. Khabbaz and many more. They do not care, (but they pretend to) All they care about is covering their own butts and pretending to follow policy. Bullying is inevitable and nothing will be done about it. Explains why teachers quit and they are so understaffed. They have zero control over the kids and will not work with parents when addressing serious, concerning issues. It's probably not 100% the school's fault, it's LAUSD for not giving them the staff and resources they need. Which in return is very dangerous for our children. Honestly, the only person that cares about the students genuinely.... the security at the front door. The most genuinely kind, and caring person to students, and their families. But if you don't want your child to be bullied and teachers to be disrespected on a daily basis in front of your child and nothing be done about it, keep looking because this is not it.

That made me realize how much teacher-led, paper-and-pen instruction helps students focus and learn. As a transfer student, my daughter was warmly supported by teachers, her advisor, and the staff. The community is small, caring, and dedicated. I also joined a Board of Directors meeting before enrolling and was impressed by the school's organization and forward-thinking leadership. VIPHS reports an 81% college-acceptance rate, compared with under 60% at many nearby public high schools. The average class size is about 20 with a 15:1 student-teacher ratio, versus 30-35 students and ratios in the high 20s elsewhere. VIPHS is a close-knit, welcoming community that genuinely cares for students and prioritizes personal attention and academic excellence. Plus, drop-off and pick-up are so easy, a small but real bonus for families!

Both of my children are thriving in this environment, where the focus is not on technology, but in developing their creative skills in writing, mathematics, music, sports, and above all how to be wonderful humans with their fellow classmates and teachers. We see a dramatic difference from the students around the school in comparison to children who are at the same age group going to public school and for us there's no comparison. This environment allows the students to thrive in ways we only hoped our children would experience. We truly have only wonderful things to say about our experience thus far in these last three years and will absolutely look forward to staying at Highland Hall for the remainder of their education.

What stands out: Teachers are genuinely cared for (you can feel it in how they show up) Outdoor learning is central, not an afterthought Learning is experienced through hands, heart, and mind (and truly offline and not through a screen) Warm, open community that walks the talk Upper school students are bright, engaged, and have real relationships with each other Academic excellence through curiosity, not pressure The slower pace in early years is intentional--less rote memorization, more wonder and deep learning. Amazing teachers, unprofessional idea's to prepare students to transition in a high school…read moreenvironment. Academically, yes they will prepare you like any other middle school. Physically being there, no. There is a yellow line that disables the students from accessing or navigating any area of the campus. So to access the outer wall of that line, you'd have to be an 8th grader & have those previlages given to you, once a week or so ? In the quad ? How will students be able to prepare for a test, or go to there storage (lockers) to pick up utencils, maybe books, or maybe talking to a teacher about there concerns with grades & school work ? You see, going over the yellow line is an asset to every student. It opens opportunities & freedom to do as you please to a certain extent with school related work, or activities, plus on the side giving the advantage for students to socialize & develop their communication skills with other peers, all this preparing them for the big deal in high school. Get your stuff together Northridge. There is security for a reason, cruise around the school & do your job. Let them walk & do wherever they please, to a certain extent though.

And also this whole school honestly needs metals detectors because my sister told like literally everyone had vapes or carts and everyone and they mamas would hotbox the bathrooms and get high. and just in general this school is so ass they are honestly not doing anything about it i hope the damn priceable or some teacher reads this and actually think about it and make a difference because holy shit this school is so bad

Every other teacher was nice but Barreto and Rosillo came from hell, especially Barreto. Rosillo did not help for SHIT and her instructions were terrible. There's not much to say about her since she didn't do much. Literally. Barreto on the other hand was so immature. He started a whole drama with my friend and I. He'll probably know who we are when I talk about this stupid ass drama. My friend was too shy to ask for a bandaid so when our other friend went to ask for her. Barreto told our other friend to tell my friend to come over instead. When my friend did come over he told her if she wanted to fail his class. Mind you this was about how we were supposedly "ditching". Our moms literally knew that we were going to 7-11 to get breakfast and snacks. He even said he was going to call my friend's mom and ask if she knew. Mind you we asked that morning if we could go and they said yes. Then on a random day my friend went to talk about her grades. Barreto would again mention how we were ditching, like our moms knew about that so lets drop it. Neustaedter only mentioned that we were always walking around and late. Ms. Barr who was our 1st period said that yes we would be late but we would do our work. Mind you i was not even called to this meeting, only my friend. So they were saying how I was a bad influence and pretty much talking behind my back. They said how we had a reputation walking around, like I said we would be there on time almost all the time. Not only that, my friend would defend me and say that im always there early which is true because my mom makes sure of that. And they would continue to say the WE would be late no matter how many times my friend say that I would be there early. They were literally painting me as the bad influence. They kept confronting my friend to the point where she literally cried and that we had to go ask our counselor to leave AOAT which thankfully happened. Im still shocked at the fact that Barreto had all this shit to say about me but did not once mention it to me. He literally went after my friend and made her cry. Definitely some petty and childish drama from a grown man

Each of their experiences has been different, but one thing has stayed consistent: their confidence has grown and they've learned how to advocate for themselves. I remember when my oldest started as a freshman. He was nervous and trying to figure out where he fit in. He's part of the LGBTQ community, and as a mom you hope your child will be accepted for who they are. At VAAS, he was. The diversity here is real, and you can feel it every day. He joined the dance team, got involved in theater, and eventually became president of several clubs. Watching him grow into a confident leader showed me how much this school was helping him develop as a person, not just as a student. My other two children were excited to attend after seeing his experience, and I've watched the same kind of growth happen with them. They all have different personalities and interests, but they've each learned to speak up for themselves and take ownership of their future. As a parent, that means everything. What makes VAAS special is the smaller environment and the relationships with teachers and staff. Students are known by name, and the teachers genuinely care. I've had teachers reach out not just about concerns, but to share progress and ideas for growth. It shows they're truly invested. Both of my children who graduated from VAAS have now graduated from college, one from UC Irvine and the other from the University of Hawaii, and my youngest has already been accepted into college. That tells me VAAS really prepared them for what came next. One of my favorite experiences as a parent has been Digital Portfolio Night, where students present their own work and reflect on their growth. Seeing that confidence firsthand is something special.
