This school is so welcoming. The principal and his staff are always so kind, frendly and professional. This school has a lot of gifts to offer and it starts with them. What I have appreciated the most from this school, is that they don't tolerate bullying. I admire and appreciate this. Waging peace. Also, when something goes wrong, they take action and go on to communicate with parents about the situation and how its being handled. This school has my respect and trust. I have reassurance that every student matters to the school. How beautiful! Also, my daughter is the happiest she's ever been and I thank you Saint Gen for giving her the tranquility and the feeling of belonging we longed for. This school is unique. So as a new comer to private school, we chose St. Genevieve, my little one had a difficult time with transition but, Ms Allen made it easy as she saught what was best for the student. Ms Sanders is a great teacher. My child has thrived after being in her class. The school as a whole is wonderful the staff knows our child and is very attentive. Truly it is a small net community but very diverse. They learn how to present and read, math, and write with some grammar by Kinder. Very impressed, parents its a family effort, so if you are willing to support your child with the homework, that is fantastic, if not daycare has your back for daily HW. I am looking forward to culturing my childs growth with St. Genevieve. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but I owe this to other parents. I wish I could have done more research when I saw parents protesting outside St Genevieve high school at their open house. Our biggest regret as parents is to have chosen St Genevieve high school for our child. Overall experience was the opposite of kind, loving and safe environment. Teachers are disrespectful, curse and bully students and there is no accountability for what they do. Mr Horn ignores calls and urgent emails which leads me to believe that students safety is not his priority. Mr Horn retaliates, he lacks empathy and concern for students. I can only describe him as cruel, he forgets he works in a catholic school. He thinks he's above everything and everyone and teats families with such disrespect. One or two bad teachers is a problem with the teachers. A school with many bad teachers is a problem of leadership.... Don't get impress by their open house! It's just a show! My kids have been going to this school for 4 years now and I have nothing but good experience to share. My kids always have great stories to share about their day- including what they've learned about their faith, and how their teachers help them understand a difficult subject at school. The faculty, staff, and support personnel have certainly lived up to the school's motto: To Know God, To Live with Honor, To Change the World! During these difficult times when the corona virus took over the world, St. Genevieve as a whole community really pulled together and made distance learning possible, less stressful, and fun for the students and parents alike! (Mind you, this is coming from a frontline worker. ) I've listened to other parents whose kids go to other schools, and I was, once again, reassured that my kids are in the right hands. The teachers were ready to transition to online school in a week and the quality of teaching and learning remained high! My special thanks go to Miss Green, Mrs. Govatos, Mrs. Averion, and Miss Rooney for their tireless efforts, 100% dedication, and positive attitude! SG is a school I would NOT recommend as a former student. Pros: * The staff is very kind! I just wish they would do their jobs properly. * The food is great! It's restaurant quality (imo) and I would eat it every day if I were able to afford such costs. * It's K-12, which makes it easy for future applicants with multiple children. * We get to go to the Hollywood Bowl. * Personally, I love how big the lockers are. This is a step up from public school, but I wish those big lockers weren't $85 for incoming students. * WE HAVE TOILET PAPER THAT DOESN'T FEEL LIKE SANDPAPER. AND SEAT COVERS. AND SOAP THAT DOESN'T SMELL OR LOOK LIKE PISS. Cons: * The education is very poor. * This is shown in many ways, from the poor viewpoint of our administration to have students purchase their own iPads that they are essentially free to do as they wish with during class--this is a learning distraction and can easily be solved by providing students with iPads owned by the school. * Many teachers neglect to discipline students properly (such as not observing how students use their iPads during class time), which results in a haphazard learning environment when they need to be taught most. (From my personal experience, I had a teacher from a prior school who cursed, yelled, took out her emotions on students, and was out for roughly two months--however, I learned more in that class doing guided independent studies than from teachers here over the past year.) * The religion, which is the reason why I applied in the first place, is very poor. Outside of going to church every week, we don't do much religious studies, which upsets me. I came here to learn more about my faith and to be given spiritual advice, not to be given worksheets with fill-in-the-blanks. * There are no advanced courses for students who may find it too easy, which may hinder their academic growth in the future. Not only would this be a better selling point for students to enter the school, but it could be a possible motivating factor for students trying to get into said classes. * The school is run haphazardly and their main concern is money. * Firstly, I would like to point out that the money put in is NOT worth what you are given. I do not expect teachers to give me an above-and-beyond experience as I would with all teachers, but coming from a school that my parents pay for, I expect to be taught AT LEAST the basic curriculum and to have teachers that are able to provide a somewhat stable learning environment. Sadly, I find none of that here. * Students are too concerned with their iPads during class, and some teachers do not do anything about it. Some teachers even allow us "free time" or play a movie when they do not have a lesson plan. As a student WHO PAYS TO COME HERE, I find this very disconcerting. * We have many events that are frankly useless fundraising events. While this is to be expected of a school, I believe it is quite dumb to let students have a free day at school because of a said event. We are in middle school, and soon to be high schoolers. I personally would appreciate administration not taking our learning time and rights as students to prepare for dances that they only use to make money. * Secondly, our schedule changes almost every week--it's rarely our actual schedule. This hinders with my learning performance, as I am often not sure what classes I have and how I should prioritize my time. Many students share similar problems. I come AND PAY the school to learn; as a student, I ask for my right for a stable learning environment. * Our administration doesn't know how to spend their money correctly. We are currently building an auditorium, so administration takes extra, unnecessary funds from the students so they can fulfill their dream of a precious auditorium. This is shown when students were asked to pay an additional fee (roughly $100) when exchange students that were expected to apply then dropped out last minute. * Heck man, we don't even have a proper playground for the elementary. Or a separate campus for elementary and middle school. Give the kids the things they deserve for paying so much. * This is a little more personal, but I found colleges for a cheaper price than our high school campus. That's just sad, imagine how I could be saving money for a good school rather than this, which has proven to me again and again how poor this is academically and financially. * The overall campus is quite small; however, I'm impressed that this school can support 1,600 students kindergarten through senior year in high school. * Our uniforms aren't worth what we pay for; they wear out after three washes and are cold during wintertime. ;-; I honestly have more I can add to this list of cons, but my fingers will literally give out. :P read more

A wonderful school! The teachers are simply the best-caring, dedicated and talented. Students receive a well rounded education and their are many extra-curricular programs for students available. The parent community is very supportive and love the school. We have three daughters in the school and could not be happier. Highly recommend the school to anyone looking for a nurturing and supportive environment for their child. read more
