The sales staff would regularly use her to pitch the facility to families shopping around for assisted living facilities. Staff routinely parked themselves in the big recliner in her apartment to chat and relax with a resident who could carry on in-depth, pleasant conversations. Mom was given one of the best rooms at the facility because, at the time, it was barely occupied, and the salesperson wanted to fill the units. In return, Mom did her spend-down with T.O. (thousands of dollars), effectively depleting what savings/resources she had left after the death of my father. Then, as planned, she enrolled in the New Choices Waiver Program, with most of her SS check going to the facility every month, along with her Medicaid reimbursements. Over the next several years, T.O. managed to fill its units, and Mom's one-bedroom apartment began to look like a cash cow occupied by a resident who could not afford to pay the "market" price. The administration will likely claim they gave Mom the first right of refusal, offering to keep her in the unit if she could pay the full fee, which, of course, was impossible. In effect, they evicted her. Worse yet, the so-called studio units they offered as a replacement (which are little more than hospital rooms) were also priced beyond her financial reach and that of most Medicaid clients. Mom's contributions to the facility and her history as a resident were not taken into account. Mom's actual mental health and clinical needs took a back seat to the promise of financial gain. Like everything else in America today, money proved to be the most important consideration. My sister and I were also dragged through a hellish process for months, during which offers were made, then retracted, contradictory and false information was given, and little genuine empathy was offered. At first blush, T.O. looks less institutional and more "homey" than many assisted living facilities. Ironically, there is a cold, unfeeling attitude at its center.

Mr. & Mrs. Kim have created a wonderful community and the caregivers they have on staff make the community that much more wonderful. Some places I toured before deciding on Twin Oaks felt so cold and sterile; that is definitely not the case with Twin Oaks. You walk into the building and there is such a welcoming and warm environment, it ceases being a building and really does feel like home. The caregivers at Twin Oaks truly care about all of the residents and treat them like they are their own family member; that care also extends to residents' families as I can attest to as I spent the last days/weeks of my mother's life there as an honorary resident. While their primary focus was on my mother, where it most definitely was needed, they also made sure that I was taken care of. Words can never truly convey the immense gratitude I have for everyone at Twin Oaks. You made the last year and a half of my mother's life comfortable and as free of worry as possible.

Jode and Adysen, in particular, have cared for him as if he were family, showing endless patience, warmth, love and attentiveness. We never needed to worry when we were not around. There are no words to fully express what these two, Jode and Adysen, along with the font desk personnel and the amazing beautiful staff at Sagewood team mean to our family. They are and always will be our family. We are profoundly grateful for all the love and kindness they have shown us and dad throughout the years. They have a registered nurse on site, and a dedicated staff. Fun games and social hour, movies, concerts, and tons of bus rides. Sadly because of Covid19, visitors were limited, as per CDC guidelines, but, we knew mom was safe and cared for. We did FaceTime and window and patio visits. My family highly recommends Sagewood!

I had an extremely disappointing experience at the Our House "Salon". What disturbed me the most, was the salon was visibly unclean, with trash scattered around and surfaces that looked like they hadn't been cleaned in ages. The overall hygiene and sanitation of nail tech, Mary Terry was far below acceptable standards and making it an uncomfortable environment for customers. The health department should be concerned and certainly look into this matter ASAP. Moreover, I know of several instances of unethical behavior by her and management. They seemed to have no regard for ethical business practices, which was very concerning. It's concerning the way employees were treated. It was clear that some staff were under-appreciated and treated poorly. The management was rude and disrespectful to their employees, which not only affects the environment, dynamic of business but also creates a negative atmosphere for customers. The only way to get management (Bobby, the "Executive Director") to respond is to get in front of him to complain. He then responds, but it doesn't last long and problems are reoccurring. I am not one to write a negative review to this degree until tonight. My MIL's room has a critical maintenance issue. We just learned this issue is throughout other rooms. This is a health concern. It was reported to the staff and again the next day to Bobby directly. Our concerns fell on deaf ears. Now on the weekend we learn the problem is not resolved and there is no building maintenance on the weekends. How is it that a facility of this size,with elderly care needs, has no maintenance on weekends? This is unacceptable. In the past all the excuses for lack of attention to issues have been understaffing due to Covid. While we understand the challenges businesses have faced and continue to face, there are things that can't be ignored. Care of our mother cannot be ignored! When she pushes her button she cannot wait an hour for help! Batteries in the alert system around her neck need to be checked regularly by the staff. It's issues such and this that bring us great concern. There have been many kind and caring caregivers who have loved my MIL. For that we are grateful. Unfortunately the best people are leaving and this allows for concern as to why. I wonder what the staff goes through, as we hear there are many unhappy residents with complaints such as ours. I don't know the management personally so I can judge only based on our experience. The conclusion is that this beautiful facility is managed and run poorly.
