So In 2017 my daughter was in an auto accident and received medical attention after , my daughter wasn't living with me and I was unaware of an e.r visit nor info issues long story short how I was made aware of these charges was being contacted by I.c systems collections, I went from a 740 credit score to a 620 ..auto insurance wasn't pursued appropriately and they said it was to late to Perdue them .. I am incredibly disappointed in the "care" my husband is/isn't receiving. Thank god I'm here through the night to take care of him and get him to the bathroom or he'd have been on his own, no vitals being taken, his fever spiked through the night to 104! I had to go find a nurse to tell them he was burning up. We've seen 3 different doctors, none of whom talked or communicated between them, I have to retell his heath history and current issues every time, to every person that comes in the room. His regular specialist still hasn't been contacted or consulted and I'm ready to just pack him up and walk out the front doors and drive to the University of Utah. I earned a helluva paycheck here, and they'll want 6 months worth of my Husbands paycheck for this unwelcome hospital stay. And just a side note I am not an asshole! I totally get nurses can be overworked and most of them are absolutely amazing, my point is, that has not been my experience at this hospital. One star . And that star is only because I can make a badass pot of coffee or hot chocky due to the fact they provide a small galley kitchen for others like me taking care of their loved ones.. so.. ya. That's cool. But not cool enough to make up for poor care of my sick loved one. One star. Do not recommend. read more

I went in for an eye surgery and to make long story short. They forgot to put the pain killer in the I V if it wasn't for the numbing eye drops I would have had to scream. This surgery was more painful than back surgery. They need to be investigated it was very traumatic I didn't want to move because I had things in my eye. It really really sucked. Update. I have called them multiple times since my surgery and they have never got back to me. They really don't seem to care. If a business will not call you back either it don't care or the management needs to be replaced. I will never go there again. read more

Stay away from this hospital, if you can! Be especially cautious if you have to be admitted as an inpatient. In fact, I would have to say the same for IHC's "flagship" hospital, Intermountain Medical Center. This is not about the doctors since most doctors in Utah do not have a choice but to be employed by IHC, and those that don't still have to function with the resources and bureaucracy of the hospital. You will find amazing doctors that are among the best in the country, all the way down to those who had to take a detour through their medical training. I am a critical care physician with Board Certifications in five specialties that found myself in the throws of a Staph Pneumonia with a respiratory arrest and awoke days later, admitted to Alta View's ICU on a ventilator. I've always voiced my concern to IHC's Administration over the penny-pinching mistake they made by placing Hospitalists in charge of critically ill patients in an ICU and managing patients on ventilators, with no more than a General Internal Medicine training. That concern was validated to me in spades when I woke up on the ventilator -- suffocating -- and not being able to get anyone to investigate what was wrong. Imagine yourself in the panic of getting desperately too little air and trying to pull yourself together to write a note to the nurse, knowing full well that the ventilator was on the wrong setting and trying to get them to call someone; but only getting the trash bucket phrase that "this is normal" as a substitute for not knowing. I had to suffer all day long, only able to take tiny sips of air while my lungs burned from suffocating and trying to breath myself through the ventilator circuitry of tubing because the Hospitalist didn't know that that setting is for exercising patient's lungs only a very few minutes at a time and never to use it as the initial weaning parameter, and never ever more than the patient can tolerate. That experience was only one of several major encounters I had with cavalier treatment, which I received there. If that were the only bad experience, I might consider it an outlier, but I've had similar experiences as a patient at IMC at the hands of a Physician Assistant performing unsupervised invasive (surgical) procedures on me and, consequently, having major complications; one of which (a hospital acquired MRSA infection of my Port-a-Cath) that was potentially life-threatening. All this only scratches the surface of the atrociously poor care I have personally witnessed or experienced at IHC; and is the kind of patient care that is dictated at IHC hospitals through their policy of cutting corners on anybody they don't consider to be a VIP." read more

I had a mammogram this morning at the women's center at Alta View and it was one of the worst experiences ever. Getting a mammogram is not a fun experience. The technician (Tonya) was not friendly or kind. The first image she took had my shoulder in it. She rudely blamed me and asked me "What did you do?" Like I was it was all my fault. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Nobody should be treated like that in such a vulnerable situation. read more

They treated my grandmother with great respect in the ER this past week. Took some time to get be seen by a Dr. but we did show up after midnight. Great staff and the officer working was even kind enough to offer us snacks and drinks while we waited. read more

My wife went to your emergency room with a dislocated foot and 3 fractures to her right ankle due to a hiking accident. She was given 32 hours worth of pain meds and told to follow up with an orthopedic surgeon at his office. When i called that surgeon i was told they wouldnt be able to get my wife in for surgery until the following week. Whole time my wifes foot is in a splint. Her bone poking out the side of her ankle but still inside the skin. i determined we werent getting proper medical care in Utah and we left home. My poor wife had to endure a 10 hour car ride in agonizing pain with my poor children to watch. Upon arrival i IMMEDIATELY got my wife into an ortho office. When we saw the podiatrist he was shocked. "I just dont understand, its a ski town. They deal with this stuff all the time. This is unbelievable. Im sorry my dear, WE are going to fix this for you!" he said. Last night my wife fell and broke her arm. Now she is hospitalized. Luckily, this time in a facility that actually provides medical care. You all should be ashamed of your self. Your doctor betrayed his Hippocratic. Your facility is prime example of why citizens of this nation are ashamed and frustrated with our medical system. My wife left with her foot hanging off. And the RN alluded to the fact that my wife would be better off going home. Im absolutely disgusted. shame on you all. Your commercials boast about caring and compassion. But you allow something like this to happen. In my mind this is border line criminal negligence. read more

Appalled by the utter lack of empathy my boyfriend and I received at this location. My boyfriend recently suffered a drug overdose and was brought here after he called 911. When I arrived he was freezing, he had asked for a blanket repeatedly and he still had vomit on his face. We were told several times that he was going to die and if by some miracle he lived he would not live a high quality life. I understand it's a patients right to understand what's going on but for Christ's sake he's a kid who was already scared shitless. We were only there for a couple hours before getting transferred to a hospital in Provo (which was MUCH nicer) but the whole time my boyfriend and I were treated as total inconvenience. I understand that these nurses and doctors unfortunately witness drug overdoses regularly if not daily but it was the most traumatizing night of my boyfriend and I's life and it would have been nice to have been treated with kindness and warmth instead of judgement. I hope no one else has been treated like this here. read more

We visited Alta View to see a newborn in the Women's Center. It is a little bit older compared to some of the other IHC hospitals that have gone up recently. They have done a nice job to keep it renovated though, and it is a lot easier to find parking and get up to the room, just because it is smaller and there are less people going in and out. It looks like they are rebuilding the hospital which will be nice but until then, Alta View is okay the way it is! read more

I've had better experiences at other hospitals. I've become quite a regular in the ER and understand wait times and such but the way I was handled was not ok. The intake was quick and fairly efficient but the rest was horrible. The physician finally got around to coming in decided what needed to be done and then took about an hour tracking down his equipment because everything was so poorly stocked. After finding his equipment he dropped the needle on the floor and then actually inspected it like he might consider using it. It took hours to be handled in am otherwise empty ER. And there was little to no communication between him and his nurse. I will definitely drive the extra 5 minutes to IMC. read more

I had to take my daughter here for strep throat and she was a mess. I got in right away in the ER and the staff was very professional and caring. She was hot with a fever and they brought her cold towels. She was very comforted. She is doing better now. The Doctor was very sweet. read more

Couldn't even make the appointment... needed to make an endoscopy appointment, but only one person in the entire hospital can do that, and she apparently gets in late, goes to lunch, and then goes home early. I discovered this after 5 phone calls over the course of 3 days. I was finally forwarded to another department and told that NO ONE else could help me... Really???? Yep, try again at 10 am tomorrow, that's the best time to get through. Great way to run a department! read more

Doctor Layne Smith is why this review is a 1 star. With multiple visits to Dr. Smith he kept postponing doing ultrasounds each visit. And only had one ultrasound done during the entire pregnancy. Because of this, the umbilical cord of my friend's baby was wrapped around her neck 3 times and has had bad seizures every day since birth. This could've been avoided if Dr. Smith would have just done his job. read more

Dr. Russell Smith is hands down the most thorough, caring and skilled physician I have ever had the pleasure of not only working beside but being a patient under his care. I wouldn't even give them a star, but have must even write this review. My mom was admitted to the E.R. with severe abdominal pain. She told them her concerns, they did one test that took 2 1/2 hours! I am not going to more detail for her privacy. When I got there to pick her up, everyone was sitting on there hands with their fingers up their noses. Alta View Hospital is a profiting hospital... That most likely gets gets paid by the hour from insurance. That's why they keep everyone waiting. Same on you Alta View, you are a terrible hospital!!!!!!! read more

Intermountain HealthCare - absolutely a not so good healthcare provider. They use unethical business practices for both patients and employees. Stay away from them if you can, even though they are trying to create a monopoly in Utah. Do not use Intermountain Healthcare. I go to Lone Peak or St. Mark. When I broke my elbow, they originally stated I could go to the Draper IHC. I waited an hour and then they told me the x Ray was broken and to go to Alta View. It's frustrating because even with an appointment they call other people ahead of you that had appointments after you. I also had three different doctors throughout treatment and they would all give me different directions and it was confusing. read more

The cafeteria is more responsive than our assigned nurse and doctor. Felt ignored and like they thought we were a waste of space. Yes, it wasn't life threatening but even a year ago when it was its like pulling teeth to get anything done. read more

I've been doing my routine mammograms at St Marks Hospital and have always received excellent service, but with a switch in insurance, we were forced to go here. NIGHTMARE!!! First, scheduling was extremely difficult and if you have to try to reschedule, it makes it worse. With initial scheduling and then my need to have to reschedule once, it literally took me three months to get in. Then, when I get there I was telling the lady how difficult it's been to get an appointment and she looked at me shocked and said they have a bunch of openings that day and all week. Now... as if that wasn't bad enough... they told me if there was a problem I would be contacted with two business days, and if there was no problem then I would receive a letter within a week. Over two weeks later and I had to call in because I've received no correspondence at all. On top of that, I find out that the radiologist just barely read the results two days ago. With my family history of breast cancer, the poor and untimely service received just left me on edge for months. Next year I plan to go back to St Marks Hospital and just pay out of pocket. It's worth the higher quality service not to have to deal with this hospital again. read more

I've had some really, really terrible experiences with health care and told the staff at the south surgical center about them before having a minor surgical procedure. They were all very nice to me about it and respected my wishes. The doctor was from sandy OBGYN (Dr Larsen) and was also wonderful. This was my first surgery with general anesthesia so I was very nervous, but they really helped assure me. Everyone asked my name and birthday and what I was having done so that there were not any mistakes. It was what a surgery is supposed to be- it isn't fun or pleasant but you get treated with respect and courtesy, and a health issue ends up being resolved. I am closer to other hospitals but if I need any surgery again I am going to try and go to alta view because I was so impressed by their professionalism. read more

Avoid this hospital at all costs, because it will COST you big! I have used this hospital in the past and it has ALWAYS been on my Insurance Providers list. Now, at 2:30am I use the same hospital I have in the past and when I get the HUGE bill for only 2 hours in the ER, they tell me that just this one IHC Hospital "Alta View" is not on my Providers Plan anymore. Why didn't they tell me when I was checking in? I was conscious and answering questions. I gave them my Blue Cross Blue Shield of Utah card and paid my CoPay with my credit card! Where did IHC's Customer Service policy go wrong? I turned over the check that BCBS of Utah sent me and am not trying to get out of paying the bill. But now IHC: Alta View is charging me the highest amount possible which is 3 TIMES what BCBS was willing to pay under the contracted price that they pay at all of the other hospitals. And, to top it all off, they will NOT let me talk to a real live person. They make me write a letter and FAX (yes fax) it in to their Patient Financial Services Department. Again, this is not about trying to avoid paying the bill, this is about Alta View Hospital knowing full well hat they were not contracted BCBS when they took my insurance card. DO NOT USE THIS HOSPITAL UNLESS YOU LIKE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! read more
