I recently purchased a 2013 mini Cooper from Edvard - the owner of Altadena Auto Center. My car was recently totaled, when I crept into the intersection and a car ran the red light light and destroyed the front end. The settlement was more than I thought. But, how can you replace a great car with even a fairly nice settlement? My only relationship to a mini Cooper was seeing it in the remake of the film The Italian job. It Had, per Carfax, just over 90,000 miles. For an 11-year-old car I thought that was pretty damn amazing. Then I thought: there's got to be a problem. I looked for the next three or four days. I kept that car as a like so I had it on my phone. I didn't want to do any financing. To be honest, I was really looking for a Ford escape that I had. But no longer. Or a Toyota that was being sold with under 150,000 miles. I annoyed my friend who's been selling cars for 25 years, as to what to do. On the last conversation about cars, he said, look at the dealerships, the small ones that you drive by. I said give me the ones that have 20 or 30 cars and you don't think twice about stopping in. Yes. They will give you the best deal because they have to move their inventory. And if you're lucky enough. Lucky enough to find the right car and the right sales person you've hit the golden goose in the car selling industry. I did my research. I never thought I would buy a mini. One owner. No accidents. Maintenance had been kept up till about 10,000 miles ago. The last owner bought it straight off the boat when it landed in California. I emailed three maybe five times. We communicated. He answered my questions. Then I asked if he would sell the car for a certain amount out the door. Yes, he said. The next morning I took an Uber. We sat down we talked. We got to know each other. I felt comfortable with him. With Edvard. Buying a car and putting down thousands and thousands of dollars gives pause. I drove the car. We talked some more. I'm not a mechanic. But he said: take the car. Drive it for three or four days. Take it to a garage and have them sign off on it. If you don't want it, bring it back. He also said that if anything goes wrong in the first 30 days or thousand miles, bring it back he'll take care of it. There was and he did. I then got a gadget to give me a reading on what needs to be taken care of in the car if anything. It read nothing. Everything was in excellent shape. Just as he told me. As my friend said: I was lucky because I hit the golden goose. Before I drove it off the lot he put on new tires, a new battery and I think there were one or two other things they took care of beforehand. He knows cars he knows the process of buying and selling. And he knows what people go through. He's an honest Direct man who sells a good product. He told me that the most important thing to him was that people felt comfortable enough, happy enough to write a review and recommend him to friends or people they met on the street. If you're looking for a car, that's being sold by someone who has a moral and ethical compass ... in the car business I know that's hard to find ... You should look up Altadena Auto Center online. Go through the cars. And if there's one or two that you're interested then it's worth taking a little trip to the location and see really firsthand what what. I think I was very lucky. He is a man of his word. And I think I can say with a modicum of experience, That he's not selling crap and pushing it out the door and down someone's throat. read more

was looking for a first car for my son and they had three candidates so we did the 30 mile drive from cerritos. the lot is nothing to speak of (looks to be a converted gas station) but he has some nice, lower mileage, used cars. we ended up finding and buying a very nice older hyundai with low miles that looks to have been garaged its entire life. there were a couple of items (no show stoppers) i found during our test drive and Ed took care of it all. No arguing or complaints... I bought a 2013 Ford Focus from Edward and trusted this car to in good repair since I paid around $7000 for it and it had over 100000 miles already, everything went great at the beginning but only 4 months after buying it I discovered that it has a huge problem with the gas tank and a lot faulty sensors, the car started turning off while I drove it, before this began to happen with this car I made the mistake of buying a 2015 Hyundai Sonata from Edward again it had 175000miles already and I paid almost $10000 for it and thought the miles would matter if the car was in good repair, unfortunately this car started to stall and turn off in the middle of the road only a week after I bought it so I contacted him about this issue and he argued with me at first but after agreed to have it looked at by his mechanic Campos auto repair in Pasadena Ca, now I am a local and use to work at Oreilly auto parts and deliver parts to both Altadena auto center and Campos Auto repair for years and it's why I thought they were honest business people but please beware that you don't get fooled by their friendly approach, I am having the same exact problem with this car as with the first one I bought, it's a huge problem because it's with the gas tank and fuel system, this two cars I bought are trash and will most likely not pass smog this coming year, they are burning the engine oil and the gas evaporates from the tank, I am very disappointed and hope no one goes through this with this used car dealer and his mechanic. read more
