I researched a ton of different cuisines, but ultimately came back to City Smoke House because of their flawless track record. Honestly, I wish I hadn't wasted so much time exploring other options because City exceeded even my highest expectations. The party was at a nightclub in the Castro, and the delivery was perfectly on time. The customer service 1000%. They even provided custom cards for each dish so guests knew exactly what they were eating, a small but thoughtful touch that people really appreciated. We ordered brisket, pulled pork, chicken, smoked portobello mushrooms, barbecue sauces, mac & cheese, potato salad, and tossed salad. With an open bar, I didn't expect the food to steal the show, but it did. Friends and family were raving all night, , "Where is this food from?" The next day, my phone was blowing up with texts about the brisket, the mac & cheese, the works. (For the record: I'm extremely picky about mac & cheese, and City nailed it.) My cousin from the Midwest said that the portobello mushrooms were his favorite. The portions were so generous we had enough to host a next-day gathering to enjoy the leftovers, though the mac & cheese disappeared the night of the party so order extra! In a city like San Francisco, where great BBQ is rare, I only wish City Smoke House had a brick-and-mortar location I could frequent. When I didn't hear anything via email or a call I called the office and spoke to Ben who apologized for the lack of communication and he would respond via email, which he did a few hours later. After several emails from Ben we were able to settle on a menu in just a few days! We were looking for a Hawaiian fusion themed menu and Ben & his staffto came up with a great menu. W Some of our many items that was a huge hit with our guests were Vietnamese vegan rolls, miso glazed black code, a toss green salad with Edamame and Asian dressing, crab deviled eggs, scallops spoon, chimichuri steak crostini, short ribs skewers, Asian style lamb meatballs, and dessert of fruit cups and mini cupcakes were perfect. There was a few dishes that wasn't as successful but overall everyone enjoyed the food. We had pre arranged to have someone to meet the catering staff early for setup but due to unknown delays they did show up until an hour before the service started which also ment they were rushed to setup the food but they did a good job to get the hot and cold foods setup before the end of the service. Overall they did a good job and the food excellent but arriving late to the event and poor timing to replenish empty dishes was disappointing also dessert wasn't served until most guest departed. The tastings were excellent, and we truly felt heard. They were open to our feedback and made adjustments based on our preferences. The cocktail hour was a highlight - the food was delicious and beautifully presented, and our guests were raving about it. However, the dinner service didn't go quite as smoothly. We were running a bit behind schedule transitioning guests from cocktail hour to their seats, and the catering team served all the food before everyone was seated. As a result, our meals - and many of our guests' - were cold by the time we ate. Additionally, wine and water weren't placed on the tables before the food service began, despite having discussed our wine service preferences in detail during a planning meeting. My husband, my dad, and our venue coordinator all voiced their frustration during the event, and it took longer than expected for the situation to be addressed. Some of the groomsmen even took it upon themselves to grab bottles of wine and serve guests directly, which was helpful, but clearly not something they should have had to do. On top of that, far too many bottles of wine were opened unnecessarily, so we had to send open bottles home with their staff instead of saving them for another occasion. That said, our guests still commented that the food itself was good. We just wish the day-of coordination had matched the quality of the planning phase. I picked up the tray from San Bruno Market in the Portola District of SF (thank goodness for the parking lot!!). Easy pick-up from a friendly store owner/manager(?). The food is still as good as before. I ordered extra Spam and egg onigiri, but some only came with Spam and no egg; still good, but not *quite* as good!! She also substituted a couple of onigiri for the eggrolls that we don't usually eat, so that's a plus! The tray's presentation was, again, excellent. Garlic noodles were delicious, beef and chicken skewers tender and delectable, cha trung (?) very flavorful, and empanadas yummy! Two of the onigiri are enough for a light lunch, but I tend to eat more than that just because it's so good!!

For us, we were very set on having Chinese (or at least East Asian) cuisine for our wedding. Le's is one of the few catering options available in the Bay Area. Most caterers we talked to gave us limitations, said they couldn't customize things, but Le's was special. Christina made us feel truly special and carefully listened to us talk about the customizations that we wanted. She would add in her own suggestions and expertise into the discussion, and told us when something would have been too challenging. The final meal that we got was breathtaking, with many of our guests exclaiming that it was the best wedding meal they've ever eaten. In fact, some even said it was some of the best food they ever had. Everyone, from relatives from China to Americans born and raised in Ohio thought the meal was brilliant. But Christina was never afraid of any culinary challenge, and would work diligently on researching and perfecting new recipes to serve us. In terms of recipe development, Christina was nothing short of professional and a perfectionist. Two things stood out specifically. First, was that we also asked if Le's could cater boba for us as well. We already liked the Milk Tea that they demo'd at the initial tasting, but we asked for two very specific drinks in addition to the standard Milk tea. We requested an orange fruit tea, and a sesame milk drink. Christina iterated on both recipes, and came back to us with a tasting. My wife and I, as boba connoisseurs, had extremely nitpicky feedback to give, and she took all of it with grace. Every single of of the drinks were improved to exactly what we had imagined, by the time of our wedding, and the boba catering was genuinely perfect. The second thing that stood out is that we asked for a particularly experimental dish as an hors d'oeuvres, notably a youtiao + shrimp paste dish that was inspired by shrimp toast. Christina told us that this would be a challenge, especially as she would have to source the youtiao, and then actually develop the dish. During our second tasting, she came up with two completely different versions for us to sample. We chose one, but also gave some feedback about what we liked or disliked of each . What came out at the wedding was neither of the options, but something incredible and better than anything we had imagined possible. She had taken the dish back to the kitchen, and worked on the dish until perfection. If you get a chance to ask for a tasting, I implore you to ask for that appetizer. Overall, if you are looking for a Chinese or Vietnamese cuisine for your wedding, you honestly can't go wrong with Le's kitchen.
