Enjoyed lunch from here at a conference in San Francisco this week! Tasty flavors experienced in each entree. The tofu noodles option had just the right spice kick to it and the sweet potatoes with kale flakes on them was a great side compliment. The chicken artichoke provolone sandwich was HUGE (took half home for dinner), had just the right amount of sun dried tomatoes and zucchini in it, and the orzo salad had just the right amount of lemon zest to it as a perfect side. This place is filled with toxins!! Awful place. They even have yellow 5,red 40, and blue 1 in food. Everything has seed oils. There's no gluten free or vegan options. It's overpriced while being cheap toxic food. I went in and immediately left after I saw how toxic the food all was. It's all processed. Stay away if are into health. read more

We used Bi-Rite for a holiday get together. We needed some apps that was a bit more than cheese and crackers. They have the perfect plan in the Happy Hour Appetizer menu for 15-20 people. Bi-Rite Catering has been providing both delicious dishes and excellent service to our company for more then two years now. They cater for our seminar four times a year with an attendance of about 100. This team is a pleasure to work with and the overall experience is five star. They are very responsive, accommodating, helpful, thoughtful and they use eco-friendly plating and utensils. I feel like they are always one step ahead of me which has been really fantastic. On day 1 of our seminar Addy, one of the caterers, checked in with me right away offering to have the staff serve everyone so we could eliminate everyone touching the serving utensils - which is perfect given the coronavirus situation. The food is delicious. They accommodate everyone including "Jan" who is vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, carnivore, dairy-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, egg-free and doesn't like texture. Just kidding but seriously they have our dietary restrictions covered which is very helpful. We love them so much that we sign our contracts for the year instead of for each conference. Hellz yeah! Ok so I'm really into that gas station fried chicken on van ness but I wanted really nice delicious sides to go with it - stuffing gravy mashed potatoes -- THE WORKS!! Oh yeah and it's Christmas and I hate to cook. These guys hooked me all the way up. The person from Bi Rite who dropped it off - Lis? - was incredibly nice. One of our guests at our holidayfest is a caterer by trade and he was like - this mac and cheese is terrific (it is) and I know them to be very nice people (they are!). I just used Bi-Rite Catering for my daughter's birthday party this past Sunday at a park. The cost was worth not stressing over preparing food or ordering the typical kid's party pizza. We were able to provide guests with healthy, tasty, and gluten-feee options. I did all of the ordering online 9 days before the party and the confirmation allowed for changes including cancellation up to two days before the party. I called a couple of days before the party to ensure I ordered enough for 48 guests and the addition of the salad was suggested. Our food was delivered on time and within the time slot I chose. All of the food was well covered (see pic) and well-presented in recyclable platters and containers. I was given a holder for the napkins, but not the comparable flatware which was fine because I had my own. With my delivery I was given an envelope with the final receipt and food cards which included ingredients in the back. These were the items we ordered: Mushroom flatbread Pomegranate-marinated chicken skewers Ham & Cheese Finger sandwiches Mixed-greens with stone fruit Mixed focaccia finger sandwiches (turkey & roast beef) All of the items were delicious and perfect for a party or picnic at the park. The only thing was the bread on the ham and cheese sandwiches started to get toasty from being out in the sun, but that's normal with sliced bread. A couple months ago, I was faced with an Office Manager Situation. I had a well-liked VP leaving the company who loves pots de creme and we wanted to send him out happy. How much does he love pots de creme? He would take new hires and clients to only one restaurant as they served the best ones he'd ever had. I looked everywhere until remembering Bi-Rite caters and sure enough, there were mini jars (how cute is that) of not just chocolate pots de creme but salted caramel and I think a passionfruit. Not only did he leave happy, everyone in the company was raving (and fighting over the 5 we had leftover to take home). It was one of those Office Manager as Heroine moments. Not only perfect for him, but tasty and the delivery was a breeze. I will absolutely add Bi Rite to my go-to list for lunches and desserts in the office. Bi-Rite catered my wedding in September and I couldn't be happier with their work. We did a few tastings when choosing a caterer, and while with other vendors we had a tough choice, for catering, Bi-Rite was a no-brainer. Their food was way more delicious than anything else we tried, it was local and sustainable, it was price competitive, and the staff was darling and caring. I had a fairly good idea of what I wanted for the meal and Bi-Rite was able to take my vision and amplify it. Instead of choosing from a list of boring options, I was able to design my wedding meal from scratch. The staff had great ideas on what ingredients should be included based on seasonality. We emailed back and forth a lot in the time leading up to the wedding and it seemed like no request went unanswered - from wine and beverage suggestions to the latest update on wild salmon availability. Food is a really important party of my life and I wanted the meal at my wedding to represent that; Michael and the Bi-Rite catering team understood this and delivered. The meal was memorable and delicious. I even had one friend who had decided to become a vegetarian right before the wedding indulge in meat for the last time at my wedding because it was so delicious and tempting. I'm not sure how I ended up with it, but in the wee hours of the morning, I broke into a Bi-Rite take home bag filled with treats for us newlyweds. This is not a review on the food, but just the process of receiving a quote. Can I give half a star? I had asked for a quote back in April(over one month ago) and after receiving emails saying they were interested in catering for my wedding and would be providing me a quote shortly--I still have yet to receive it. It had almost been 5 weeks now. I had even spoken to someone on the phone about the details of the event and followed up a couple times via email, and each time I was told that I would be getting a quote soon. I understand that people are busy and a wedding for them is probably an every day thing, but for those not in the business a wedding is the biggest deal, and brides spend lots of time researching vendors. It would have just been nice to know that they wouldn't be able to accommodate my wedding from the beginning instead of waiting weeks just to find out no one would be sending information. I'm glad to hear other people had a great experience with Bi-Rite Catering. I won't be using them for anything. read more

So the caterers we originally had planned for our office turkey day lunch cancelled on us but recommended this place. Let me say - MEH!!! The brussel sprouts are so bad, the cranberry sauce is as bad, the stuffing is soggy, and the gravy looks like some sort of grey liquid. Could not have been LESS helpful. The executive level management at my company was having a special event. Since we are located in the city, we figured we would support a local business. I made an order using the online system. Two days later, I still had not received a call or email confirmation. I called the catering line directly and it took at least 10 minutes to look up my order. Then, the woman said that the time I requested (8:30am on a Monday) was too early and I need to choose something else to order. I asked for a recommendation since I was not by a computer and do not have the menu. She told me she can not make a recommendation and I should look up the menu and call back. Needless to say. I didn't call back and we will go elsewhere. I told management about the terrible service so no one will ever use them again. read more

This review is only for wedding catering. When I called BiRite Catering on April 2014, they told me that they only accept online catering request form. I had submitted their online catering request form. After many attempt to speak to a person, they told me everything needs to be done via email. I assumed it was because they wanted to track all conversation. August 2014, 2months before my wedding, Michael called me and told me that BiRite misquoted me about a few thing and price went up significantly. Michael apologized and said he could not do anything about it. It was too late for me to find another caterer. On my wedding, they brought something different from what I ordered. When I confirmed with Michael he again apologized and said there is nothing he can do about it since the guest has consumed already. I really hope no other bride has to go through this again. As for good part, BiRite server and event manager of the day was very nice. The guest has said good things about the food. If it was for something like work events, BiRIte catering may have worked, but not on special occasion. read more

Bi-Rite recently made my event planning team and I look like heroes, so I must tout this recent triumph. We ordered around 25 quarts of all the finest flavors for an ice cream social (we had beer too; ice cream and beer are the long lost cousins of PB & J, betcha didn't know that). and hot dang it was a good idea. Additionally, in the selfish department: I have never actually been to the creamery. (Tales of the long snaking line have reached my ears). So, having large amounts of many Bi-Rite ice cream flavors brought to me gave me an opportunity to check out the bandwagon itself. The delivery was perfectly on time -- almost as perfect as the flavor splosion that is honey lavender. I knew I wanted to try it given the unusual flavor, and it was like licking the perfume counter that Aphrodite had recently spilled her new perfume on because she was startled by a honey bee that accidentally dropped a prize honeycomb on. Straight tasty licks. The catering / planning process was just as smooth and tasty as the rest of the flavors I managed to try. I was even able to order the scoops necessary to serve this cream mountain -- I bought 15 of them. The catering department made this ice cream dream easily attainable, and I highly recommend that you take advantage of the delicious sorcery that is delivery Bi-Rite ice cream. read more

I recently attended a wedding catered by Bi-Rite. It was a garden wedding, about 200 people, and all I can say is the food felt not like a caterer but like I was eating out at a nice San Francisco restaurant. After cocktail hour (loved the signature cocktails they served!) complete with oyster bar, we sat down for the meal, which was served family style. Loved that approach, the catering staff brought out platters for each table to share, so we all were able to have lots of what we wanted and skip what we weren't interested in, without the lines of a buffet setup! Amazing burrata and heirloom tomato salad (this was September in the Bay Area), succulent lamb, awesome bread basket. I also felt that the service style of the catering staff was on the money without being overly formal. My friend (the bride) apparently had lots of people come up to her and tell her they'd never had better food at a wedding! read more

We just got married in August 2011 and hired Bi-Rite Catering for our wedding reception party. Having sampled menus from several other caterers, we were blown away by the quality of Bi-Rite's offerings (from the slow roasted porchetta with summer fruit mostardo to the melon and tomato salad with goat feta, arugula, basil and balsamic vinaigrette to the local cheese and charcuterie station). And we still stayed within our budget (one legit income + one law student on federal loans)! Michael was particularly responsive throughout the process, and Susan and her team were superb at making our reception run seamlessly. Everyone on their team was super nice, very professional, and actually seemed to enjoy themselves. Many of our guests went out of their way to tell us that our buffet menu was the best wedding food they'd ever had. They went out of their way to make sure we were fed -- which for all of you planning weddings -- is a huge perk. They even packed a bag of goodies for us to devour after the reception was over. Delivery was on time, set up on the designated table, and was absolutely delicious! Our Thanksgiving work luncheon turned out spectacular! What an amazing event! Tina and the girls were absolutely fantastic! They were very well organized and kept the food coming right on time. I've worked with a lot of catering companies; their customer service was 5 star. They didn't act as though my order was too small or insignificant, which isn't the norm. I'm only giving 4 stars instead of 5 because I didn't actually taste the food. However, every person in attendance raved about how delicious everything was. We've used Bi-Rite catering several times for small events. The prices are reasonable for the quality of food. The items that ALWAYS go like a flash are the skewers. I guarantee your guests will finish the skewers. All of the skewers have tender meat and great sauces. You are getting free-range chicken, grass-fed beef, etc. The items that I don't like much are the focaccia sandwiches. They are more bread than anything else. Everything is always ready on time for pick-up or delivered punctually. You can place an order easily over the telephone. I love Bi-Rite. They did a great job at our wedding, but they were pricey. The food is about 25% of the total bill. Rentals are another 25%. Labor is around 30%. As another reviewer said, the price jumped up on us too. It went up 10%, two weeks before the event. In the end we ended up paying around $150/person. That being said, they did a *great* job at the wedding. The food was great and the staff was polite and attentive. All our guests really loved the food, and we thought Bi-Rite reflected our values very well: simple, delicious, wholesome. read more

So much potential but had some hits/misses with them: -Customer Service: awesome and friendly everyone I've interacted w/ (5 stars) -Responsiveness: really mixed - it took me 2 emails, a voicemail and even after putting in an order, the first gal never put it in the system for later retrieval. We had an event at the SF Main Library and a reception before the event/ I called Bi Rite Catering for sandwiches. They answered all my questions before my ordering. On the day of the event, they delivered the beautiful sandwiches. They were labeled for the chicken or veggie. They brought, napkins, small plates everything! Everybody loved the sandwiches!!
