Yet, like most people in Halifax, I can't always afford the exuberant prices of exclusive brands carried by stores like Duggers. The Suitor was the best of both worlds. I was able to find the modern look and style I was looking for, and the pricing was perfect! The store is owned and operated by a Master Tailor who provides custom fittings for anything you buy. I bought a Calvin Klein suit with a french-cuffed Sean John shirt. I didn't like how the shirt looked on me and wanted a more 'slim fit' look. He took my measurements and custom-fitted the shirt within 24 hours. This little hidden gem of a store works mainly on word of mouth and has been for several years now. They can custom make a suit for you in any style you desire. Regardless of your body type, if you like the look of a particular luxury brand (like a Hugo, Canali, or Zegna suit), bring a picture and they'll make a suit for you just like it... but for a fraction of the price!

I have brought all forms of clothing to her, from casual dresses, to dress pants, to jeans, to bridal gowns, to suits. As well as, brought clothing to be dry cleaned. The service is always amazing, timely, prices are fair and the fit of the clothing is always what I wanted. Janice is extremely friendly and kind and over the years she has made an effort to build and grow a rapport, which I really appreciate. Janice provides quality work, very knowledgeable and able to work with you and guide you on what's best for the fit of your clothing. I no longer live downtown Halifax, but any alterations, tailoring or dry clean needed, I only make my way to Janice. I strongly recommend. Keep up the great work Janice!!!

No anchoring done, paid a lot in cash. Hard to believe this job was done by a real tailor, I suspect they have inexperienced people in the back doing their work. Taking my coat to another tailor, will make sure this time that an actual tailor does the work and if he/she advises me of how this work was done, I will let you know. It is extremely affordable and he makes each experience enjoyable. This is my second time coming to him, and he had my coat ready by lunch time and today, he has to completely change everything - new velcro and a new panel and it'll be ready by the end of the day. The service I get is incomparable. When someone treats you like family - you stick with them. It's also so much easier when the service is Grade A! I'd recommend them to everyone - and I do :)

The man working was very professional and I was able to try on my pants in a little changing room so he could pin the correct length. The quality of the work done was great. The only reason I'm only giving 4 stars out of 5 is that I was told my pants would be finished two days later by 11am (I said I could pick them up in two days before noon, or I could get them the following week as there was no rush). I arrived to pick them up at 11:35am while on my way to work, and I ended up having to wait 5 minutes while he finished one of my pants in front of me. It wasn't a big deal, but if I I had come at 11am when he said they would be done then I would have waited 40 minutes or I would have had to come back to get my pants on another day. I would recommend this tailor, but I would suggest giving them more time to finish your items, even if they sound confident that they will have it done in a couple of days.

Sana is the lovely proprietress, and she greets everyone with a smile and can-do attitude. I have had multiple pairs of jeans hemmed here, and zippers replaced on items from skirts to my favourite wool winter jacket. Sana will put a rush on anything you need if necessary, though I have never needed anything quickly. She is capable and pleasant to deal with. Replacing a small zipper will run you around $8-10 and having some small alterations done will likely be around $10-$20. You can ask at the time if you're concerned about cost, though I have always found it to be very reasonable and much better than messing it up myself! You can also pay when you drop your items off or when you pick them up. There's a curtained off dressing room if you need to put on trousers before hemming or get advice on other alterations. I highly recommend this place as it's efficient and inexpensive!

I have to say that I've waited almost 6 months to write this review because I was just too angry to write it before - it wouldn't have been fair and I wouldn't have given the good and the bad. But here it is now... I needed some quick-ish work done on my dress. It had to be taken in 2 sizes (woohoo, weight loss!!). I had 3 weeks until I needed it back. The woman there said no problem, and "not expensive to do!". In retrospect I should have asked for an estimate but when someone says "not expensive" I anticipate it won't be expensive. So I went in, tried it on for her and she proceeded to pin it for me. The whole time we were doing that we kept getting interrupted by other customers coming to get their orders. I know she's running a business but when I'm standing in the middle of a tiny store, where everyone can see me, with half my dress pinned and I'm holding the other half up, I don't want to wait 10 minutes for you to serve someone who came after me. Take the two minutes, pin my dress, and THEN serve them. After that she gave me a slip, said 2 weeks and I went off. Two weeks later I came back to try on my dress. Well, it was too tight. Not too tight that I couldn't fit but tighter than I wanted. No matter, it wasn't a huge deal. She then proceeded to tell me how it was "much more work" than she anticipated and she had to "take it all apart" to take it in. And it would be "a bit more". By this point I was just ready to be done so I told her that was fine and asked what I owed. Brace yourself... $140. That is neither "not expensive" or "a bit more" than not expensive. That's almost what I paid for the dress itself!! I couldn't do anything except tell her I was disappointed and pay. She had my dress, she had done the work and now I owed her the money. I took my dress and left. On the day of the wedding it did look beautiful but had I known what a headache it was going to be and how expensive she was going to be I would have taken it somewhere else. I will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone. Ever.

I took it to multiple tailors and they turned me away; I then took it to Vogue Men's Wear & Tailoring as my last resort thinking this store was going to not want to take it on either. Well I was shocked, they took the dress without thinking twice, measured me right away and the dress was done within two weeks! It was perfectly done, I mean perfect!! The length was the exactly as we talked and measured. I can't begin to express the Gratitude as a Bride to have my dress fit me perfectly on one of my most important days of my life!! Also my Husbands suit and his grooms men suits were on time, mint condition and were perfect fits as well!!! The gentleman there (Nick) is very talented and precise, the quality of the clothing I saw for men are top of the line material and the prices are amazing! I buy for my husband there all the time!
