So I went in to get my hair colored. The stylist was friendly at first but when I noticed how she was doing my hair I complained (pretty nicely considering). When she was done my hair was pink and yellow. When I went to check out they charged me full price and the owner said I wasn't allowed to come back, even to fix what the stylist had done. I had to go to another salon to get it fixed for $200. They said no amount of toner could fix it and they had to spend 2 hours trying to get the pink and yellow out. As a woman, nice hair is not cheap. Cheap hair is not nice. Dry shampoo is like coffee but for hair. And you can only have it so much. After relocating to the Denver metro area, I needed to find a salon that carried Aveda products to replicate the color my previous stylist perfected. I researched and read reviews from fellow Yelpers. Located in a strip mall nestled between Starbucks and a liquor shop, you won't be thirsty for sure while you are getting your hair done! Super easy to get appointments and they offer an online/texting system for appointment setting and cancellations. I figured Chaele is their most popular stylist from the reviews. There is no doubt after working with her for several months now. She is friendly, kind, a master stylist and happy she is venturing off to start up her own spot. I will be following her as a loyal and big fan of her work. The only reason it is short a star is that pricing was not very clear. On all several appointments, my services went from $85 to almost $400. I realize that a root touch up and a balayage will vary in price. I prefer not to have sticker shock when forking over the card. I think giving a run down or having services and prices available for review before checking out would definitely be welcomed by clients. I still would recommend the salon as I noticed several of the other stylists craft their magic. They say it is what is on the inside that counts, I agree. But I would just make an appointment here at Altitude Salon just in case. read more

FYI about fees! I kindly texted to let them know I was sick and should I wear a mask or reschedule? They told me NOT to come in AND they charged me 50%. I thought I did the right thing by letting them know and hoped they would negotiate their fee. I loved getting my haircut there. Such a bummer they don't consider your circumstances. I've visited this salon for various men's cuts since moving to Colorado in 2015 and I've never been disappointed. In that time, I've had my hair cut by a half dozen of the stylists at all different levels - junior, master, etc. - and they're all exceptional at their craft. That said, when the new ownership took over in 2022, they took it to a whole different level of awesome. The vibes: immaculate. The execution: top notch. The experience: unrivaled. I've heard (and seen!) too many horror stories from my friends & family that tried other salons/barbers. You can do everything right (get a consultation first, bring your stylist a snack, have a picture ready, tip them, and come back to have the stylist fix it the next day in good faith) and still walk away looking totally busted. If you have a thicker hair texture or want a hair cut that is considered technically difficult (basically if you want anything other than utah curls or a karen asymmetrical pixie) this is not the salon for you. They have a tiered system with the most experienced (and expensive) stylists on top- do not let this fool you, I went with the most experienced stylist and I very much still regret the decision to have my hair cut here. One last thing- she made me feel bad about sharing feedback when I tried to have her fix it. Her attitude made it clear she didn't care about how I felt about the haircut I was paying her to give me. All in all I do not recommend based on the haircut and the customer experience. read more

The first cut I had here was basic basic, and okay. The next one involved a lot more technique, and I walked out with certifiably one of the worst haircuts I have ever received in my life. I specifically said that I didn't want it too short, I didn't want a bob/to look like a bell, and that I wanted it point-cut. I walked out with hair slightly below my ears, a bob, with no point cut. As a reference point, it was supposed to be at my shoulders in the back and angled forward to be much longer in the front. It is literally inches shorter with no angle cut. They were able to get me in same day with a more advanced stylist to try to fix this mess. However, even a week later, it is just horrid. Uneven, several inches too short. I can't get it into any decent style. Not straight, not flipped out, not curly....it's so uneven in the back as compared to the sides and front, there is little salvation. A few positives are there is enough parking, the salon is clean, employees are friendly, and it's easy to book online. But the real sticking point is if you walk out of there with a horrid haircut, that's going to take months to grow out, what's the point in going in the first place? I strongly strongly recommend if you have any sort of average to above average technique required with your cut to either book with a highest level stylist here, and good luck, because I'm not even sure that's going to work out, or go someplace else. read more

Just called to reschedule an appointment for tomorrow at Altitude Salon as I lost a tooth filling. I was told by the receptionist that they now had a 48 hr. cancellation fee. 50% of service cost for rescheduling and 100%, if no show. I have been a client of Altitude Salon for around 7 years. I called La Tierra in Highlands Ranch and their policy is similar but only if you cancel same day which is understandable. Now I know why Altitude wants to keep your CC on file. While I understand the struggles a business might have, gouging your long term customers isn't the answer. I kept my appointment as my dentist was able to fit me in today by jiggling their schedule. read more

I am new to the Denver area, looking for a new stylist/salon. I have always liked Aveda products so I thought I would be in good hands. However my experience was less than good. It took 4 hours for a highlight and trim. I understand we all have to learn however I told the receptionist I am picky about my hair, and I am very blond. So she scheduled me with a level 1 stylist. My hair has breakage and different colors as my hair processed at different times since it took the stylist so long to foil my hair. I have made calls to the salon and get a return call once every week and a half as we are playing phone tag. I just want my money back. It was very expensive and it is not worthy of the over $200 price tag. read more

After having a bad experience with a salon in Parker, I was realllly scared to try a new salon but I was in desperate need of a cut and color. I decided to go with Altitude based on the good reviews and was randomly matched up with Kristina. She is the bomb.com! She's very thorough and takes her time with coloring and cutting your hair plus she smells really nice. I have a lot of hair so I'm used to stylists just rushing through, but she did a really fabulous job on my all over color, highlights and cut. I am SO extremely happy I found this salon and Kristina. I found this location on yelp. I stopped in, very easy to make appt, they referred me to Ally. She did a fantastic job. I am from NC and usually see a stylist at Tanas, so I am used to going to a salon and not places like super cuts, etc. (no offense but you get what you pay for). I am very picking about my haircuts and sensitive to a lot of hair products. Ally is not only a stylist but also a certified barber, and she is also extremely knowledgeable about product, which they told me when I made the appt. I have been going to Ashley for a year and half with just color only, when I am in Colorado,( I live in New York) . She kept telling me what I needed.. Well I trusted her and she did a whole head balayaged, thinned my much needed thick hair and a cut. After a friend of mine had a good experience at this salon with Andrew I decided to give it a try since I'm new to the area. He did take the time to listen to the type of color I prefer when we started the appointment. I am pleased with the allover color of red that he formulated for me and the cut is overall pretty good. But that is where what I'm happy about ends and is the reason why I am not giving the salon fewer stars. Andrew was about 15 minutes late for my appointment. Not a huge deal. I showed him some pictures of colors and cuts I liked and he showed me color swatches. I pointed out the swatches I liked and how I wanted them slightly different. I was very clear with him that because my hair is naturally a dirty blond, it takes color very well and that I did *not* want the highlights he was adding to be blond. (I realize that bleach = blond which is why I specifically told him not to lift them too much and that they would need to be toned and to be honest, the "highlighted" color I request was the same color as the color I came in with so lowlights would have been more appropriate.) All stylists approach things slightly differently so setting that aside, he asked if I wanted natural or "chunky" highlights. I told him that normally I prefer natural but we could try a few chunky as long as they were peekaboo. Foils went in first. I asked him how he was going to cover my roots with the foils so close to my head. He said that he does it all the time. Fair enough, I'm not a stylist. Allover color went on and some of this color went in between foils. I told him that coloring my hairline roots was particularly important to me. When he washed my hair and toned it he became a little uneasy. I thought perhaps it was that he had a client waiting because he didn't anticipate how long it would take to do my hair (being a newer stylist perhaps learning how long it will take him to finish various services). He began asking me to come back in a week to tone my again because the highlights were going to be "too blond" which they are after he toned them but the real problem is that you can see my roots in ENTIRE sections of my hair! In addition to that the highlights are not "chunky" as peekaboo - they are PANELS of blond. In addition to leaving my roots showing all over the place and panels of blond that I did not ask for, I really felt like my hair was just a wig on a mannequin to him. My hair was pulled so much and my head was pushed around so much I left with a migraine. I've been having my hair colored from blond to red for over 20 years and this has to be the worst experience I've ever had. Granted, this is one stylist in a salon but considering that I paid $150 with a $20 discount for this service, I would not go back - not even for the color correction. I expect that an owner of the salon should be well aware of which stylists still need supervision for certain services and that either those stylists get the needed supervision or are not allowed to perform those services. read more

I went here from a friend's recommendation to see Jessica for a cut. When I called on Saturday afternoon no one answered so I left a message, no one called me back that day but I got a call back on Tuesday to schedule my appointment. When I arrived, I was greeted warmly asked to sign-in and offered water or hot tea. I opted for the hot tea which was wonderful on that chilly day. It is a small cozy salon, well lit and appeared clean. They played "oldies" music 50's through 70's stuff, which I like. There was a tree for me to hang my heavy coat on and magazines to read while I waited a few minutes because I was early. Jessica was very friendly. I appreciate that she had experience with the type of cut I get. I have very short hair but it is also thick, making it difficult to find experienced stylists that can make it look the way I want it. She also provided a short neck and shoulder massage which was a nice touch. It's an Aveda salon so that is the only products used, however when I told her what I use she did not talk negatively about the competitors brand. She knew a lot about hair and did make a few recommendations on products but was not pushy. I was very pleased with the final result, purchased some shampoo and already scheduled my next appointment. read more
