I visited Royal Organic Salon in June for what I specifically booked as a color correction. Before scheduling, I explained over the phone that my hair had been professionally dyed black (not box dye) and that I wanted to return to my natural level 7 color. During that phone call, I was given the impression that this was something they could do. However, I wasn't told until I had already arrived, was sitting in the chair, and had product applied to my hair that they would not be able to achieve my desired result. I wish I had been informed before the service began so I could have made an informed decision. Instead of a color correction, my roots ended up a completely different color from the rest of my hair, and the overall lift was minimal. My hair was left with multiple different shades--some areas were light brown, others dark brown, and some were still black. It looked almost the same as when I walked in, despite paying well over $300. I was originally quoted around $250 over the phone, so the final price was also much higher than I expected. Because I was unhappy with the results, I went to another stylist for a second opinion. They were able to achieve my desired color in a single appointment for nearly the same price. They also told me that, based on what they saw, it appeared my hair had mainly been treated with a color remover rather than receiving what they would consider a true color correction. I wish this had been explained to me beforehand so I could have made a more informed decision about moving forward. About a week later, I contacted the salon to see if I could receive a partial refund. Unfortunately, that experience was even more disappointing. The manager was very rude, accused me of lying, demanded photo evidence, and referenced reviewing their security camera footage, saying I looked happy during my appointment. Like many people, I wasn't comfortable telling my stylist I disliked my hair while still sitting in the chair, especially knowing I was about to pay for the service. I also didn't fully realize how uneven the color was until I saw my hair in natural sunlight. I've included photos below to show the results. I wasn't looking for a full refund--I simply wanted the salon to acknowledge my concerns and work toward a fair resolution. Instead, I was met with a defensive response. Everyone's experience is different, but based on my experience, I won't be returning. I hope this review helps others make an informed decision before booking a color correction here. read more

UPDATE: Royal salon is in a new location and it is absolutely B-E-A-UTIFUL! The interior now matches the high end quality of service and products and because the location is much bigger, they now offer more services! From waxing to Manicures and Pedicures all of their services and products still remain organic- right down to the nail polish! If you haven't been here already- DO IT! I promise you will be back for all of your beauty needs! My review from their previous location: Indre is seriously good at what she does. I have never really had one stylist at I consistently went to- I have thin hair and there is only so much you can do to it anyways. BUT I will never go anywhere else for as long as I am in the Springs. Indre, the owner, takes definite pride in her styling and she is always consistent. I know exactly what I am going to get each time I go in. Also, she uses only organic products- shampoo, conditioner and hair color. The organic hair color lasts longer than the icky chemical stuff and it is much better for your hair. It is a little pricey, but not nothing more than you would expect to pay for a good cut and color. She also does some waxing but I have not utilized these services. Indre was amazing today! I have natural curly hair and have been disappointed in the haircuts I was getting from my salon. I also did not like the chemicals in the hair color that they used also. It was a true blessing to find this salon and get such personalized hair services. Indre spent time with me to discuss the best way to cut my hair to get my curls back. She found the perfect colors to highlight my face and give my hair the pop it needed. I have never had a stylist spend time to give me tips on how to use products to take home and get the same look the next day. This was truly a wonderful experience and my curly hair is beautiful. It is very difficult to find hair salon that uses only organic products including the coloring agents. I called my curly haired friend right after leaving today and she booked her appointment for a few weeks from now. COLOR: Getting the organic hair color is a fun process. It works through heat rather than harsher chemicals, so this was the first time I got to sit under one of those dome heat/dryer things. The color is shiny and pretty, and your hair ends up really soft. CUT: Great. I'm growing out my hair, so I asked her (Shanae) just to trim my layers. She offered to them a little shorter than normal so they'd last longer, and I wouldn't have to come back in for a cut until my hair was at the length I wanted it! (My hair is healthy and won't need a cut for split ends or anything.) I've never had a stylist offer that. She did a great job on the cut too and ended up giving me some fun bangs. BOTTOM LINE: I'd definitely go back. Everyone in the salon was friendly and open and down-to-earth. The exterior isn't fancy, but the interior--both the salon itself and the people in it--is top-notch. read more

Clean, Friendly and Professional. Went in for a men's cut and was greeted by Shane. Super nice guy sat and talked with me while I waited for my haircut (I was early for my appointment). The atmosphere is way better than any salon I've ever been too. The use of natural products really makes a difference in how a salon smells. Other salons smell horrible with the mix of chemicals and whatnot. This spot smells great! Haha, may not sound like a big deal to some but it's noticeable. Haircut turned out better than I expected and was pretty quick as well. Ashley cut my hair and was the first person ever to feel the shape of my head before starting. This salon is awesome, they are right by Wag n' wash if you have a hard time finding it. I just had the BEST haircut I've had in years, and I'm picky. I have coarse, difficult to manage hair that often ends up uneven or poorly textured. It has the right amount of body, the layers are even but still have a natural, not straight-cut look. It flows beautifully! As if that wasn't enough to make you want to try this location, about a month ago I tried somewhere else, and the result was an obviously unprofessional, uneven mess with a chunk MISSING from the middle! I came in and described what I wanted, and Lyndsey fixed the disastrous chop-job! I also got the organic Moroccan argon oil treatment, now my hair looks and smells great! You should know that I am not one to review anything. After several years of coloring my hair (applied by skilled colorists), my scalp retaliated and I could no longer continue with conventional color products. Within the last three months, my scalp became so irritated, that it became excruciating to have my color applied. I was almost in tears, thinking there may be no other options, but I researched the internet and found the Organic Color System products out of London. I called and ask their rep several questions, including referrals for salons in Colorado Springs. I must admit that I was skeptical about the results. How could an organic product meet or exceed my expectations? And then, I found the Royal Organic Salon. When I called the salon, I got Indre on the phone who answered my questions with expertise and with a level of confidence that eliminated any of my doubts. So, I booked a consultation appointment at no charge. Let me tell you--this lady knows hair and she knows color. I left the salon feeling very comfortable about booking an appointment for color, a cut, and a conditioning treatment. This was no small feat, if you knew how skeptical I was. After treatment: Wow! This is the best color I've ever had. This is THE best cut I've ever had in my life! And I compare this to NYC, where I had the most expensive treatments from the best celebrity stylists and colorists in the country, over the years. All I can say, is this: Why continue using toxic color treatments, when you have the option of organic products applied with incredible expertise? I just moved to the Springs and had had the same stylist for 8 years and the one before that was 12 years and only changed stylists because I moved. I stopped by the salon to take a look and get a feel. Indre was very kind, I made an appt for the following week. I'm very glad I did. The first reason that I checked into this salon is because it's organic. I feel that's very important. The great thing is you can feel Indre's passion for what she does. She believes in the products she uses and is extremely knowledgeable. She answered all of my questions with patience and I learned a lot from her. She has done her homework, not only on her craft but also on the products out there. Typically when I have had my hair colored by skin would either burn or itch. I had neither happen this time. My hair is half way down my back and naturally wavy prove to frizz easy so it needs to be treated gently or it can be a bushy mess. I left feeling gorgeous. Took her time and even asked for ideas and tips from the salon owner to make sure i got the best refined look i wanted . I was nervous about the highlights since I'd never had them before. All I knew was that I wanted them to look natural. My stylist, Melody, knew exactly what I meant ended up doing a fantastic job. I am SO happy with how they turned out - subtle and natural. I love my cut, too. Again, I had a vague idea of what I wanted - a long-layered cut with body and movement on the sides.
