My cutter, Holland cut the whole back of my "growing longer" hair to whisker length, a pixie cut that I had said no to. One side , too, the other side to 1 inch. I've been meaning to write this review. I had my hair dyed by someone that probably never had dyed hair before she left me drenched in dye mind you it was BLACK. The stylist did not put my hair up how stylist usually do She left me looking like the ring movie for 40 MINUTES. My necklace turned black my face was black it was AWFUL. They used to give a nice head and neck massage when washing my hair ( I happily paid their high prices because this was such a treat,) but recently the girl who's been doing my hair only does it for a few seconds and it's barely a massage. I never write bad reviews, but this my experience was very disappointing. I had an appointment with Alex for full foils back in July. The salon looked super nice, everyone seemed really friendly, except for Alex. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She kind of had an attitude from the very beginning that she didn't want to be there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I asked where I could set my bag, she pointed to the floor which was covered in hair cuttings. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I politely pointed that out, she grabbed a hair dryer and blowed it away, and didn't say a word.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I told her I just wanted my roots touch up, from my natural dirty blonde to blonde, she basically told me that would be too hard to do. I have been getting this done for about the past 15 years, at many different salons, and I didn't really understand why she couldn't do it. I've even gone to teaching schools and they have no problems putting foils in and covering the regrowth. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Another lady came by and reassessed and said it shouldn't be a problem. She was very kind and sweet, and even tried to make an excuse for Alex saying she was going on maternity leave[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. But [[HIGHLIGHT]]Alex snapped back immediately, saying she wasn't going on leave yet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Alex proceeded to do my hair, with almost zero communication for the next couple hours, except for "turn your head this way."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Once she was done, my hair looked basically the same. All my regrowth was still there, she hadn't covered it really at all. I was disappointed, but felt uncomfortable in the environment and just wanted to leave. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I followed up with an email to Cooper Alley two days later expressing my disappointment and experience. After 2 weeks I did not receive a reply, so I followed up with a phone message[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I received a text message from the manager the next day saying she was going to call me that day. She never called, but she did leave me another message saying she was going to call the next day. It's now been three weeks and she never did call me or reach out to me to try to make the situation better[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. My hair is IMPOSSIBLE to deal with. It is thick, unruly and untamable. I have struggled with haircuts my entire life until I found Cooper-Alley. Going there is an EXPERIENCE. You don't just go there and get a haircut, you go there and feel like a million bucks. It's become one of my "happy places." You put on a robe and get a relaxing shampoo and consultation and then get treated to getting exactly what you want. The salon is beautiful but the stylists are even more beautiful. I am convinced that Holland is my hair whisperer. Under Rick's tutelage, she has blossomed into the only stylist that I want coming near my wild mane. Alejandro is the same for my two teenage son's. One was thick straight hair like mine and the other has wild, curly hair. Alejandro is amazing with them and they always leave the salon beaming. I was referred to Ali Cooper, but would not recommend. I had an appointment, which was hard to get because she's "so busy" and was left waiting for over 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, I was told it would be another 10 because she was "busy." I don't know what planet a business owner is in to think that their time is more important than the customers, but that's not my planet. I left, and won't be back. Don't recommend. read more

Amazing! First time customer. I made an appointment for a highlight and a cut. First of all, the receptionist was so awesome. She was so accommodating and worked me into their schedule in time for a trip I was taking. My highlight was with Marco and was absolute perfection. Plus, he is a super sweet guy. I am very disappointed at the service this salon provided. I asked for highlights which I've been getting for many years. It's straightforward. Not at this place. I left unhappy. I showed it to an experienced colorist who said I should call and have them fix it- basically there were no highlights. I called and the owner was reluctant at first to see me. I went back again just to have 8 foils put in my hair, calling it "special effect" which must be the new phrase for what highlights are. And then... wait for it, they charged me again as though i was there for a new service! Basically, I paid like $500 for a few foils and an attitude! Wow. I get it's in a nice location but who wants to be treated in such a way? So, not recommending this salon. :( read more

Peak Marin County Snobiness. I purchased a groupon for a partial highlight. Was treated horribly and the stylist told me she would not work on my hair due to the breakage and it needing a color correction. She then recommended me a $140 haircut instead and tried to upsell expensive products to me. Should have known that the location would mean they can be snobby and charge whatever they want to the clientele in that area. What happened to treating every customer equally? Well I am Hairdresser and I asked for highlights and came out white. I had their "Color Specialists" then they tried to give me ringlets which was hysterical because My hair is short and fine. Also, After they put the bleach on my hair in foils they left for lunch. LOL I assumed, since her prices are high I might get some great highlights, never again. They also gave me a different hairdresser to do the blow dry. And she clearly did not know how to use a round brush. Anyway I hope they eventually learn. But Fine hair takes experience. Didn't process my hair properly. When I pointed out to my stylist that my roots were still the same color. She told me how she noticed that too. She told me I should have said something earlier so she wouldn't have had to dry my hair and start over. My stylist was hoping I didn't notice that she did a bad job dying my hair. ABSOLUTE WORST HAIRCUT OF MY LIFETIME!!! I called and asked for someone who could cut curly hair and was assigned Miriam. I asked to simply even up my below chin length bob and add some layers (and even brought pictures to show as example). What I left with was a misshapen horror of a pixie cut which I DIDN'T ask for. It cannot be styled because she left me NO HAIR! My holidays are ruined now as I wait for this wack-job to grow out. It didn't dawn on me till later that this place is a glorified Blow Dry Bar dealing mainly in long straight hair. I'm beyond upset and after reaching out to the salon by phone then by email, I've heard nothing back in response to their in house rating request.
