Available are beaches, shower facilities, a playground for the little ones, a large grassy recreation area, and a gas dock with marine store. Most boat slips have a grassy area, upon which are set picnic tables and barbecue grills. There is a lot of back and forth activity as people visit each other. Club members tend to be social and friendly...many raft up together at various islands throughout the lake.

We had a fun day on Lake Winnesquam! Although still busy on a beautiful summer day, it's calmer…read morethan it's more famous, much larger, similarly named lake neighbor. NH fish and wild life have two boat launches onto a short river, right near the mouth of the lake. The ramps and a staging area to wait your turn are down a short drive, past parking. On the weekend, a 'lake host' is on hand to see that everything runs smoothly. There is no large sign telling you where the ramp is. On our visit, a small, wooden, hand painted 'Boat launch' sign had been nailed to a fence post. The entrance is two way traffic. A large NH Fish and Wildlife information board is in the staging area of the parking lot. If you are fishing, be sure to go onto the NH fish and wildlife website to get your license. Parking is for trailered vehicles only. A couple of spot, nearest the ramp are reserved for handicapped vehicles towing a trailer plus one for a handicapped van without trailer. Parking over flow for vehicles with trailers and all of those without, is on either side of Water Street. When we departed around 4pm, there were parking spots available in the lot. If you want to be sure you can park in the lot I recommend either an early arrival or after the early birds leave, later in the day. There are three porta-a-johns in the parking area, nearby the ramps, including one handicapped accessible model. On either side of the ramps is a dock where you can load and unload passengers and supplies. Head east (south?) on the river to access the lake. This is a 'no wake' area. Once out on the lake there are a couple of sandbars where boaters had anchored and were playing games. There are shallow area of the lake and a couple of public beaches where you can anchor and swim in. A few boaters had floating mats and were anchored out in the lake. Besides boats, there are a number of personal watercraft. Many boaters were waterskiing and tubing, so keep an eye out for fallen swimmers! There are also a fair number of fishermen (fisherpeople?) all around the lake in 'no wake' areas or close to shore. Definitely large enough to enjoy a day on the lake. The boats here are smaller than on other, larger lakes, so a smaller wake to deal with. There are rental properties around the lake if you want to stay nearby and watercraft rentals are available in the area. There is one marina on the lake for your fuel needs.

Mountain Pines Campground is a cute little campground. There are about 20 campsites and each…read morecampsite can fit about 2-3 tents. Each site also have a picnic table and fire pit. We stayed at campsites 18 and 19 and it was along the Baker River. They have free shower and toilet facilities, but only one shower and toilet per gender. They turn off their showers from 11pm to 7am so plan accordingly! There is also a water spout in the middle of the campground. WiFi is also available close to the check-in building. It's $10 per person, per night. Make sure to know your campsite number ahead of time. If you arrive late at night, they do not leave any notes or anything telling you where your campsite is. Also, ringing the bell does not help after hours. It's located near the side of the road so it can get annoying when cars drive past in the middle of the night. However, I don't mind staying here again. The folks here are nice. Campground is clean. It's also close to the Common Cafe and Tavern and the crags.

We've joined the boat club and this was our first day to try it out…read more Thanks to Kurt, Lance, Gunnar and Colin -- we and our guests had the best time. This is a Grade A, world class, first class experience - thank you! We could not be happier with our decision to join. The children started in the pool and hot tub while the dads got the boat and dock orientation. Moms were chilling by the pool, enjoying conversation and pool side beverages. Our boat was brand new, super clean and ready. It had all the modern features including navigation, mood lights and a wireless phone charger. The dock side changing room, showers and bathroom are super clean, well appointed and require a members' code to use. Gunnar and the dock team helped us get on board and leave the dock. We cruised directly to Meredith and loved seeing the town from the water. Then back to Akwa then out again past Governor's Island, the Witches and into the Broads. We had the lake mostly to ourselves and everyone loved the views and quiet engine. Then we sped back to Akwa for conversations, cocktails, dinner, swimming in the pool, playing volleyball, bocce and the hot tub. Our Recommendations: Lobster Roll & Calamari. This was a great day and impressed us and our guests. Everyone is looking forward to a great summer at "Our Club"

First of all, there is public docking long enough to fit a 43' boat, which is nice for us. You walk across a beach (where you could stop and take a dip) and a few people were playing ladder ball. Up the stairs is a pavilion style restaurant with exposed beams and a bar made of a sailboat! The craftsmanship is very nice. They had delicious sangria and someone in our party had a haddock sandwich, which was tasty. There was more staff on than patrons, so service was quick! This place has a really good vibe.

New at this just turn a key and away you go sport, when it came to our choice of power boats there was only one. Yes Chris Craft. Came back from the Miami Boat Show and walked into Erica Blizzards showroom in Lanconia NH we felt very welcome. Big Smiles from all, from their spotless boat yard to the amazing showroom. We purchased a beautiful new Chris Craft Launch 27. Our home in Meredith has a private slip, but we choose to store it winter and summer at Lakeport Marine. I have told my wife, sorry I didnot know of this powerboat stuff 20 years ago, sure is easy and alot of fun ! Not to forget Eric who was always there for water tests, endless questions, from the very beginning. The entire Lakeport Team is Woohoo! As good as it gets !! Thanks again.

Visiting Belmont, NH for their Old Home Day celebration we wandered onto this trail!…read more We accessed the trail on Depot Street near the intersection with Main Street in downtown Belmont. The Slippery Rock covered bridge is here (labeled on google maps as the Belmont Covered bridge). There is a fair sized dirt parking lot here. Cross the bridge, and walk up the hill on a paved path to see the old mill. It has been renovated, and parts of it burned down, but the main building still stands. There is an informational sign on Depot St near the parking lot entrance. The trail is one way, about four miles round trip, and another covered bridge is located near the other end of the trail. This trail is dirt and grass, in full sun. Part of it goes through a field where cows are grazing. Please stay on the path, keep your pups on a leash and leave the cows in peace. Four miles is a nice stretch of the legs and have two covered bridges to explore along the route is a nice addition. There are a couple of benches overlooking the river near the parking area, in the shade.
