However, we couldn't be more disappointed. They have several long trails through the woods where you've got these gorgeous ridge climbs. Problem is, they don't allow dogs on any of them. They have one small trail called Milkweed, that is dog-friendly. But it was barely half a mile, and a large part of that was just on mowed grass. Once we got into the woods, we loved it, but it was basically over as soon as it began. That isn't nearly enough for a dog or a person to have a nice walk. It's insulting when they have several miles of gorgeous trails they could open up for people like us. I understand some people don't like dogs, and they try to have a place for them to hike. But why reserve multiple trails for these people? They're surely in the minority. Most people like or at least are tolerant of dogs. Yes this park seems to cater to them, when I'm certain most people in or near Carroll have dogs. I wish there was a petition or something we could do to get them to open up a serious trail that's dog friendly. One non-dog trail is enough. Open the rest for those of us who love nature and our pets. Shame on Chestnut Ridge for this bias against dog owners.

On 10/22/25....(two hours after I posted a one star review on Yelp and Google), Ethan left me a…read morevoice message. He stated there are two Specialized Como Turbo e-bikes at his BikeSource shop on Sawmill Road. Ironically, this was the last day I could purchase a new ebike before leaving town. I wasn't born yesterday. His phone message was a CYA attempt to appease BikeSource management that he reached out to a complaining, potential customer. What about the TWELVE DAYS I lost of valuable vacation time waiting for an ebike to be shipped to BikeSource? I can't get those days back to cycle in Ohio. Hopefully, Ethan does better with future ebike customers. I'll never set foot in that store again that's for sure!

IMO I actually bought the bicycle from the manger Will. He was great by the way and helped me dial it in with customizing it. They had the color I wanted in stock but I wanted to add the custom brown wall tires with the reflective stripe so they had to order them. This was not a problem, considering it was the 2st week of February. About a week and a half later Ethan called and said my bike was ready for pick up. When I got there and inspected the bike, I noticed a very small scratch on the bike and handle bar. I was really quiet and didn't know what to say? I felt kinda bummed, ya know? Ethan asked me if everything was alright and I showed him two minor flaws and explained to him I'm kinda OCD and he took a look and immediately was willing to rectify the situation. Very empathetic the entire time, he offered to order another one or discount this one a little if needed be. Most people couldn't care less but I asked him if it wouldn't be too much trouble if I got another one. Needless to say, another week later and I received a phone call saying the bike was ready. The fact that Ethan went above and beyond and understood how I felt without even really saying anything to him spoke volumes to me on how Bike Source employee(s) takes care of their customers. Ethan was super cool the entire experience and I loved showing up and they had the pedals on and all ready for me to ride was awesome. The fact my bike is little custom than stock is also really cool.

My biggest complaint is their snowmaking and grooming, which pales in comparison to their neighbors at snowtrails. Even with the addition of a massive fleet of TechnoAlpin fan guns this year, there was still sparse coverage on 2 of their main hills (off the double chair) after plenty of cold temp days. The groupon deals, and the lack of the crowds right now are both reasons why I would give them 4 stars. The staff was also generally happy, seemed like a "family run" kind of place. The potential lies in the terrain. They have a good glade run cut, and a natural snow trail that runs along a narrow ridge that is fun. If they cut more trails into the trees they would have a lot of variety fast. Watch out for icy sidewalks and parking lots for now.

New equipment is great but the food is horrible and only one lift open on Christmas break. Under new ownership and breaking ground for a ton of timeshares to be built in the next year I could only expect for this place to give you something fun to do in the middle of what the heck is there to do in Ohio! However, this is a great place to learn and practice. Keep an eye on Groupon to see about deals with this place and it may be worth the ride for you.

It means they ride. It's a place with folks that care. Ok, that's enough. You know I am old now. I'm also a Dad of a kid with cerebral palsy that got setup on an amazing two wheel trailer that allows him to pedal and be a part of the family. I'm also a husband of a wife training for an Ironman. And yeah, you can buy all the stuff you need on Amazon, but here a seasoned cyclist that has rode and trained the pros, will take time to explain even the smallest of questions about seat position. I first met Dan when he was supporting GOBA and saw his talent and care then, some 20 years ago. He and his staff at Breakaway don't just do it well, they do their best. Dan was able to diagnose and solve tire issues on my '85 Bridgestone Touring. It has an odd tire size, 27 1/4 Schrader. Best, Breakaway found a C&O Canal path tire for my upcoming trip. I just picked up my '22 LOOK 795, in for a firmware update and resync. Kevin is now installing half stepper cranks on two Christmas presents, Cannondale T 700's. This tuning and general going over & spiffing, will include fresh brake pads. They'll also put on C&O tires. Breakaway Cycling is one of the reasons Delaware is the place to live.
