They have some cool tropical birds on their front entryway that are always fun to chat with! We have taken numerous guests here and always find the staff to be super friendly and the airboat drivers knowledgeable. It is a fun and educational ride for people of all ages and the cost is reasonable. There are other airboat operators who do the fast twists and turns in the mangroves, but I personally like this ride on Lake Trafford. Highly recommend!

She explained to me that in this summer heat 10am was the best tour to take as 11am it would be getting too hot and we would see less gators. She also said since it was a slow season we would get 5% off- even better! So the 5 of us drove the 1 hour drive (getting three teen boys up and out early on vacation is not the easiest task). When we checked in they said they were down 1 tour guide / captain. We were very understanding as they said the captain was not feeling well - so we were fine with it! And asked if we could take the 11am tour and he would give us a discount. Well the discount was the 5% she already quoted me over the phone. We finally got on our way at 11:30. I guess we were expecting the airboat to go fast- my mistake for not asking. Also this tour does not have the headsets so captain can speak to you. They do provide headphone to cancel the noise. Captain Fred was a nice enough man- however we would have appreciated him telling us a little more than 2 species of birds and slowing down when a gator appeared. We were curious about the traps that were in the water and also saw two fisherman in the center of the pond. No mention of any of that. While we quickly realized it being too hot for the gators to come to surface- that is not the problem of the tour guide or company- we would have enjoyed a little speed or something to make up for the lack of gators. I googled tackle shops and Captain Ted's Tackle was closest. I was a little nervous that whoever worked there would have little patience with a newby. The owner Jeff greeted me right away and then spent the next 30 minutes asking questions and listening to me as I told him where I was fishing (off the dock) and checking out the rod and reel I had been using. He was patient and took his time with me even when another customer came in. He set me up with the correct fishing line , hooks and lures. He even took the time to show me how to correctly tie the right knots to tie for the lines. He even gave me his card with the phone number in case I had any future questions. Supporting locals businesses is crucial and I can promise you that I won't buy anything related to fishing anywhere but Captain Ted's Tackle. That's a promise.

He took all the time in the world to answer questions and help us get the right equipment and learn to use it. The price wa incredibly affordable. I had to go back the next day because my son had an "accident" and he replaced the pole at no cost. He is a sweetheart and really knows and enjoys his business. A tackle + coffee shop. Interesting concept! I tried a hot pumpkin spice latte (excellent), a sausage burrito (pretty good) and a chocolate muffin (excellent). I walked away impressed! I was so impressed with their coffee that I returned to buy a coffee and burrito for my mechanic when he arrived. They have a loyalty card that you punch when ordering a coffee and every 10th coffee is free. I'm looking forward to filling that card up. I haven't been an active fisherman in a long time but their selection of lures and supplies was excellent. They also have live bait.
