We booked a maternity/newborn package with Jessica. During our maternity and newborn session she seemed liked she needed a lot of guidance from her colleague and seemed unsure of what shots to take. She gave me the impression that she didn't know what she was doing and it seemed unprofessional. We received our maternity photos within the timeframe she mentioned but it took more than a month for us to receive our newborn photos. On top of that, she got my baby's name wrong on the gallery. It was a completely different name even though I texted it to her! Our package also included birth announcements which she designed but it took even longer for us to receive them! I had to remind her about them more than once! She didn't consult with us on the design, she just kind of did her own thing with it. I would've liked to see a proof or something before she finished it. When I finally got them I wasn't completely satisfied with them but at that point I didn't want to deal with returning and redesigning them. Overall, I liked how our pictures turned out but I don't think I would book her again.

Pros: The process is very efficient - you get in and out pretty quickly. She allowed us to share our ideas and engaged us in decision-making for poses and props. Cons: The business model is not transparent about pricing at all. You can't find prices for packages on the website, and when I called in prior to putting in a deposit to hold my session, the employee, while friendly, spewed a bunch of package names and prices that just left us confused. It wasn't until I asked a bunch of questions that I finally learned that I could purchase pictures "a la carte". Once we got to the studio, finished up our session, and saw our pictures (which were okay, not amazing), it happened again- information vomit that left us confused about what we were really getting, but nothing in writing for us to wrap our brains around. Then, when I kept asking questions for clarification, the manager came and informed the photographer who worked with us that she was mistaken; one of the packages did not come with a frame but with ten printed photos. I didn't feel like we needed a frame, so we were okay with that package (not elated because it was a lot more expensive than I had expected for such a quick shoot and few prints), but it felt shady because the photographer genuinely seemed confused that the frame was not included in the package. We received the prints, which were not even cut, and then later saw the invoice, which said that a frame is a part of the package. Was the manager lying so that we would get the package instead of purchasing pictures a la carte? In the end, I guess it worked out because we got more prints, but I think Picture People, as a business, needs to be more transparent and clear about prices.
