Well I had 3 pairs pants to be hemmed that I paid $25 each for each and $16 each for alteration. First they were done too long then they were done too short. Looking at the hem the 1st time a lot of fabric was left there but the second hem there is not enough fabric to take them elsewhere for adjustment and the cut was all jagged inside the hem. Lesson learned I should have spend the extra money for pants that fit because now I will have to donate them and am out of pocket for $123.00. read more

The hem looks exactly like the original hem did. Ms. Alvina did a wonderful job on my dress!! It was all blue sequence with a small train. I had the length hemmed and waist and hips taken in. Alvina's is fantastic! I brought in 4 pairs of jeans and they were all done to perfection. The lengths were all correct, they matched the thread color, and they were able to be done by when I needed them. If you plan on wearing any garment with heels or dress shoes, I would definitely suggest bringing them with you. They only accept cash or check, and payment is due when you drop off your items. This slight inconvenience is totally negated by how reasonable the prices are! The only reason I'm only giving them 4 stars is because I haven't brought in anything complicated yet. I do plan on taking in a blouse that needs to be brought in a bit so I'll update after I see how that works out. read more

I found Alvina's through Yelp. I brought in a tuxedo that was several sizes too big for my son. They got the job done on time. They did what they said they were going to do. The tux turned out great. She even knew he was still going to grow so left a little room for that. She tried to keep my son in mind while working. I felt like she treated the job like she was doing a job for her family. The shop is clean; everyone was friendly and welcoming. I usually don't use a tailor so I have no idea if the price is comparable. I will use Alvina's again if the needs comes up. read more

My experience here was not so pleasant. I came into her shop to discuss getting my wedding gown altered. One of the main things I didn't like was being treated rudely. I asked if I could get my sleeves (only my sleeves) altered and she told me it would be over $125. I thought that was a little too much, but then she said anywhere else it would cost more and kept trying to get me out the door when she realized I thought it cost too much. I actually found another place that was very welcoming when I walked in and charged me $60 with a bustle included! I don't think I would go back there, I do not like how I was treated. read more

Recently I took some clothes to get altered and decided the pricing is reasonable, for there time spent on my clothes and the experience they have. I was very HAPPY to see how my clothes came out in the end. I Honestly recommend that you go to Alvina's Tailor Shop with what ever you need. You can get your clothes done for a decent price,and it comes out perfect and basically brand new instead of going somewhere for cheap and your clothes turn out terrible. Alvina and Melody are not only talented at what they do, they are also so very thoughtful! I took a difficult silk jumpsuit in that had to be totally reconstructed. Not only does it now fit beautifully, it was completely altered and ready much earlier than expected. Melody was determined, that even in spite of prom and wedding timing, she wanted to complete the jumpsuit so it would be ready for an upcoming trip we were taking the following week. I wasn't counting on having it because of the degree of alterations needed and was fine with their estimated completion time. Melody and Alvina called the day before we were leaving to say it was ready! Amazing and so over and above expectations! They are reasonable and very skilled-they do excellent, quality work and are professional and friendly. Highly recommend them for all your sewing needs. They had previously done two lettermans and quoted a much more reasonable cost than other shops and did a great job on those, as well!
