BUYER BEWARE We purchased a $1000 clock form Always Home and it was installed on March 7th. The clock does not work correctly and will cost and will cost $2,000 to repair. When I called and spoke to Angela she said there was nothing she could do and that it was my issue to resolve. She also informed me that people "who leave negative reviews are the people who have problems". I found her to be unreasonable and condescending when I was speaking to her. She insulted me and said I was not mature enough to have a conversation with her. It sounds to me like Angela is used to having unhappy clients. Very bad customer service! There are so many wonderful antique stores in the Triangle area that proudly stand behind the merchandise they sell. I would not shop at her store. read more

If you are looking to consign, I would definitely look elsewhere. In November, I brought in several decorative items and was given no receipt because apparently they do not have an online system and could not take the time to provide something in writing. (I should have walked away, but alas, I did not.) I was told that I would NOT be notified if the items sold and that the items would be held for 3 months before being donated. (Alternatively, I could also pick them up at this time.) If the items DID sell, I would be mailed a check to my home address, but of course would have no way of knowing if this was in progress. So, I marked my calendar to physically return to the store to check on things. This, in and of itself, is ridiculous. They really need to upgrade to an online system. When I returned in January, I was told that two of the items had sold on December 22 and that I should receive a check for $42. (Let me say here that while I understand the risks of consigning, this amount was far below what I could have sold them for online even with their 50% cut, but that fault lies with me.) Again, please look elsewhere if you are looking to get a fair amount on your items. I was informed that the check would be mailed in the next few days. I finally received a check for $38 on January 27, over a month after the items supposedly sold, with a $4 surcharge for a check fee! A check fee for ONE check, which I had no choice in accepting as it was my only option. I realize it is only $4, but on top of their outdated policies and procedures, low selling prices and delay in paying, I will definitely look elsewhere to consign in the future. I hope that my story saves someone else from making a mistake. read more

I recently downsized and moved. I always liked this store and had bought a few items there, so decided to try consigning with them. They took two things that I offered. I was able to deliver the items to the store, so can't speak about a pick-up process. Within a few months, I received two checks in the mail; I was very pleased with the proceeds. Most importantly, I was impressed in that the process was seamless and I never had to contact them to ask if my items had sold, or follow up to actually get paid. Always Home is by far my favorite consignment shop in the area! I've bought several classic wooden furniture pieces from there. They also have a large collection of Waterford glasses in complete sets. Their items are very high quality in good condition, and as a result their prices are a bit higher than some of the other stores. Additionally, they don't decrease the prices based on the length of time an item has been on the floor, because the owners say they price things to sell from the beginning. This means items also move quickly, so if I have my eye on something I usually buy it immediately or put it on hold rather than risk it being sold. The staff have an amazing eye for staging rooms. I'd love for them to furnish and decorate my whole house! I get great ideas just from walking around the store. They will help you load up furniture into your car and also offer delivery for a fee. Home Depot is located a few minutes down 15-501, so I've also rented a truck for the hour to transport furniture home in a more cost-effective way when it didn't fit in my car. read more

This is the only place I've encountered in town that is not abiding by the county mask mandate. And I don't mean that they're not policing customers. I mean that NO ONE staffing the store is wearing a mask. I don't care what they're selling if they don't care enough about their customers to act responsibly. As was mentioned in the last review, consignment stores will not always have what you're looking for first try. However, Always Home's selection and consistent item turnover raises the chances of success, and strolling through the shop is always a pleasure. Much of the furniture is placed in mini floorplans, making it easy to imagine how these pieces would look in your own home, and showing off the shop's design chops. The selection we saw skewed rather traditional/transitional, but there were quite a few contemporary and mid century modern pieces on display. Besides that, the prices felt very reasonable for consignment furniture, and the owner was extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend Almost Home to anyone willing to seek out consignment finds! read more

Reviews indicate that from a buying perspective "Always Home" has a good reputation. However, the consignment part of the business is dreadful. I contacted Angela Mann via email with photos of a sofa. She responded quickly and stated she was very interested and would have to visit me to view it before having it picked up. She asked me to call her the next day to arrange this. I contacted her and left a voicemail. A week later, I received an email from her stating she never got my voicemail but that she was still interested and thought she could get the process done by the end of the week and she would call me the next day. Never heard from her again. Upscale consigning is a competitive business and she's not the only show in town. Don't waste your time with this one. read more

Consigned 2 beautiful wingback chairs of my mom's at Always Home Furniture Consignment LAST JULY A YEAR AGO in 2018. They went into storage, not out on the floor. I kept checking by, still in storage. They stayed in storage for 9 months. Called them today July 30, 2019, to pick up chairs and they had donated them to Pennies for Change on July 17. Went to Pennies for Change in desperation - they had sold immediately. What in the world? They wouldn't sell in 3 months and yet they were sold in one week at the other place? I'm hugely saddened over this. These were very nice wingback chairs-high end French style. They have a 90 day policy where I knew they would donate but after all that time, and I did keep checking by... my donation receipt from Always Home says they received the chairs on March 4, 2019. THIS IS A LIE!!! They received them July 2nd, 2018. I missed getting my chairs by 10 days. What in the world??? My mom passed away last year in 2018, so this is heartbreaking. Why can't they let someone know when they put something out on the floor if they keep it in storage indefinitely? Why can't they let someone know they are getting ready to donate the items? Angela Mann said they were beautiful chairs, and yes they were. She also told me she could not possibly call everyone about their items. Why not? It takes 30 seconds. I am heartbroken over this. NEVER EVER CONSIGN WITH THESE THIEVES! No communication whatsoever. I feel like I was hood-winked, but the worst thing is that I missed getting my chairs by days. Someone now has my mother's beautiful chairs. I wonder if there are deals made by consignment merchants between each other that we don't even know about? Stay away from these people. Never consign-there are things we have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. Heartbroken. Angela, as you told me on the phone today, none of the items in the store are yours. I don't write many reviews, but really do need to give this store a long overdue pat on the back. For openers, they have stayed true to their mission, selling only consigned items. This keeps their selection varied and interesting, and I have found many very high-end items at bargain prices. It's not just a shop to pop into once and you've seen it all. It is a shop that I keep coming back to, because I know I'll find something different every time I do. Also, they put a great deal of effort and imagination into how their items are displayed. Greg has such a keen eye for display, I have consulted him about several items we bought for our home. In fact, I have had three different decorators in, but I have kept coming back around to Greg for his advice, and he has been spot-on. This leads me to their customer service in general; it is second to none. They are a small business and have a small staff, yet, every time I have been in, I have been greeted, and can see that they make a great effort to spend as much time as possible with each customer. When we first started stopping into their shop, we always looked terrible - fresh from running our dogs at the Duke Trail and pulling up in our "dog van". They did not know us at all, but treated us like royalty, all the same. Angela is too busy to read her emails or return phone calls (having sent at least 3 emails and made a phone call--none of them were responded to.) When we were in the store several months ago, we showed Greg pictures of our Clayton Marcus sofa and loveseat and he was excited about it --he said it was one of the best furniture companies and that his father had worked for them for several years--so go figure why you cannot get a response from Always Home. What an amazing place! I have been going here for years. These folks are the very best, and wonderful people. I have furnished my house, my mother's house, my son's house while he attends medical school, and I have taken many things there to pass on to others (which have sold so well). I LOVE Angela, Greg, and everyone else there. The prices are amazing both as a consigner and as a buyer. I bought a grandfather clock there that was appraised at three times I bought it for there, and many other similar treasures. They move so many things! Bought an antique children's secretary desk here. It is a lovely solid wood piece! When I got it home and my son sat on the chair, I realized that it is really rickety. My husband and I visited this store. We walked around to browse and walked pass many people who worked there and were not greeted by any of them. If there is one thing I hate it is poor customer service. If a company wants to do business with me, they can at least have the common courtesy to greet me when I come in or when I'm in their presence. I needed a queen size bed and cedar chest for a new bedroom and was shopping in retail stores where prices were very high for less than quality merchandise. A friend recommended Always Home, located at 4221 Garrett Road, right off 15-501. When I drove into the parking lot, featured in front of the store was a very lovely queen size bed frame in solid cherry and in perfect condition. I bought this immediately. Entering the shop, I found quality merchandise, gently used at a most reasonable price. The owner and manager were both knowledgeable and helpful, so much so that I left with everything I needed and a few charming touches for my new home, all for under $500. The manager stored my purchases until I move into my new location when he will deliver them and set them up for me. I will return to Always Home to buy gifts for Christmas, birthdays and just to shop for myself. This was a fantastic experience! read more
