As someone who has been…read moregoing to gyms for years I needed a change in my workout plan and this was just what I needed. Something challenging yet fun. I just took 2 classes here with Makenna and Sammi. Everyone here is super nice and the location is steps away from the beach. Parking is not hard at all as there is plenty. Not to mention there is a ton of shops around.

The studio was super clean, well-ventilated, and organized. She gave me a quick tour and helped me pick out my equipment since I was new. The class was a full hour, and was shaking by the end of the warmup, it is an incredibly leg heavy workout. The chair sits similarly destroyed me. Arm and core work came after leg, and I was much more comfortable doing those, but the barre leg movements were challenging for me. My legs ached for days after, but I will definitely be back! Pro tip for this barre3 location specifically, it's only a few blocks away from Wayfarer Bakery and Bird Rock. I strongly recommend pre-ordering for both places and just setting the pickup time for after your class! There are many beaches and cliffs in the area where you can sit and eat. Breakfast with a view after a good workout, what more do you need!?

This is a women owned business & I cannot be more proud of Erika & Leeann for doing what they do, what they've accomplished, & what is yet to come! This studio isn't your typical Barre studio, they really do teach more than just Barre, but also connecting to your mind, body, & soul. I love the fact this studio is not a chain, which makes it more special because it locally owned & their technique is impressive! I noticed there is never more than 10 people in the class, which is a plus! The instructors are able to concentrate on helping everyone with their forms & it becomes more personal compared going to a chain. I love the fact that every class/workout is different! The esthetics of the studio is what makes it different as well. Everything from the scents to décor, it gives a good energy & it literally doesn't make you feel like you're at a typical gym or workout space. All the women who work in the studio really do put in all their efforts to make everyone special & feel so welcomed. Try a class & you won't regret it!

Class sizes are small and Erika and LeeAnn are amazing instructors! One thing so unique about this studio is Erika makes sure your form is correct so that you don't hurt yourself. After I mentioned I was having back issues to Erika after class, she spent some time with me to make sure my form was correct and I haven't had any issues since! So appreciative of Erika and the Barre and Bay Wreath community. I hadn't taken barre classes previously and was very weak when I first started, but I always felt welcome. Love coming to classes here and can really see the difference in how strong I'm getting!! Can't wait for my next class!!

As we ended the session with some stretching, I felt extremely accomplished. I highly recommend taking a few sessions with Maggie, regardless of fitness level. It took me all 3 classes to finally understand what PVOLVE is. Their signature classes utilize a lot of proprietary props and accessories like the p ball (a resistance band that holds a ball that you put on almost like a belt or pair of pants). They do have a weighted training class that does involve light weights (up to 15 lbs). The movements are described as functional. As the instructors teach, they often describe how the movement mimics a movement you'd do in your everyday life like picking up something of the side of the bed or closing the door. There are foundational positions that you frequently work out of involving small, but effective movements. As someone whose done all sorts of group fitness classes, I can honestly say it isn't quite like anything else. While there are components that mimic barre or pilates, it's different. There are a lot of inverted positions in which one foot might be facing forward while the other is moving inward. That was unique and felt a little difficult to get used to, but the instructors are very attentive in helping you get it right. I especially enjoyed Maggie. She was so friendly and I took her classes twice! If you're a first timer, know that you do wear athletic shoes here. They have a nice locker room and changing area. You pick up your basket of props and drop them off at the end of class. Overall, I really enjoyed the classes. I think this studio would be especially great for those recovering for an injury as it feels slightly similar to physical therapy. It's highly accessible and there was a wide age range of participants in the class. The only thing that would prevent me from continuing to come here is the cost. The monthly unlimited membership is $400/month. It's a great workout, but that's a really high cost, even in comparison to many other group fitness studios. The benefit is that it does come with access to their at home classes, but it's still difficult to justify. A single drop-in class is $45. I really enjoyed the class and hope I can find a way to come to another class!

But you are more interested, probably, in what I don't like: Rocco Ragano. He's a Nia instructor who titters when the class makes mistakes based on "assumptions", which means we assume he was about to do the same thing again and followed that instinct, when he's instead changing it up without any verbal communication. He is a classically trained dancer besides, so his choreography is overly complicated, and he's talented enough that he can't comprehend or assist people who aren't already proficient--not traits you want in a teacher. Imagine trying to learn basic math from a astrophysicist who has an internalized understanding of numbers, and can't imagine why you don't just get it: he's the Nia equivalent of that. And there's a touch of malice too; he seems to delight in the mistakes of his students, even when the mistakes are due to his poor leadership. I was so frustrated and ashamed that I didn't stay for his cool-down. I left in the middle of another overly complicated routine, with just 7 minutes of class left--I couldn't endure any more of him. When I walked out the door, he was smiling smugly in the mirror, like it was an accomplishment to distort the meaning and purpose of Nia to the point that a student *who truly enjoys it* has a miserable experience, gives up and goes home. Other instructors though, are marvelous, helpful, and even inspiring. I would avoid that man, unless you are already a Nia and dance star. Otherwise, prepare to be alienated.

Mo was our class instructor, and she was very patient, as most of us had never taken Pilates before (I was one of them). We learned the basics on exercises to strengthen our core muscles, with and without the equipment. My favorite part of the class was using the equipment to stretch my legs and back. Mo was a great instructor and was very sweet. As a reward for our hard work, she brought small bottles of champagne and sparkling water and cookies for us. That was very thoughtful of her! If you live near this area, I highly recommend Club Pilates. The place is clean and the equipment is new. It smells fresh and is very tidy. Don't have workout clothes? Not a problem! They have a display of clothing and gripping socks for sale at a decent price. They offer a complimentary 30-minute introductory class if you are new. Come check it out!

One incident involved a member being removed from the studio in a way that felt discriminatory, with comments made about her "smelling like strong spices," which I found incredibly inappropriate. I also saw situations where members' cards continued to be charged even after issues or cancellations were raised. From my perspective, the way management handled these situations felt dishonest and unfair to members. It's unfortunate because the instructors and staff who actually run the classes are wonderful and create a great workout environment. My issue is specifically with the regional manager, Marlena, and how situations with employees and members were handled. I hope corporate takes a closer look at what's happening here, because the instructors and members deserve better leadership.
