Only been to Pilates a few times. Really nervous going into this class all on my lonesome. Everyone was pretty friendly and instructor asked everyone's name in the beginning and was offering verbal adjustments to help out throughout the class! Took an all levels class. HARD but totally got a GREAT workout. They offer adjustments for more beginner levels, or tips on how to push yourself even further. Clean, and cute set up. Definitely going to come again. Hoping it'll become my regular studio!! read more

This was the very first Pilates studio I tried in San Diego through ClassPass. It's located upstairs next to a threading business. My instructor was Summer and let me say I will only go to a class if she's instructing it. I somehow got lucky and was the only one who booked during my session so I essentially got a 1-1 without paying for the fee. Summer is so sweet and i love her energy. She's really good at helping correct your form so you don't get hurt. The only complaint I have is that the machines can be a little squeaky but that's a minor thing. I highly recommend this studio with Summer. And it's one of the only three Pilates studios that I frequent often. read more

I wouldn't recommend simply in the fact that the instructor decided to push her political views at the end of the class. It was my friends birthday and she wanted to start on a good note and had it completely ruined. I don't want to thank Trump periodt. And if someone wants to good for them. Vida Pilates was the first experience I ever had with Pilates. I chose this studio because all we really needed were grip socks and everything else is provided. This small studio was intimate and super clean. They also have very high quality equipment. I used my class pass to book an evening class. If you have never done Pilates...warning...it is brutal. I lift weights in the gym regularly but I have never had my booty burn as much as this. It's very creative how the reformer can work out pretty much your entire body. This is NOT a rest day activity haha. I'm very glad I chose to have my first experience here as it was really fun. The instructor was really kind and great at explaining how to move. This studio is stunning. I'm visiting from Seattle and most studios for Pilates are sterile and boring. This is far from that. The best part here is actually the teacher. She was filling in and visiting from Brazil. She kicked our ass and had us putting our head and feet in the o rings. but had a real energy about her she made the class go by quickly. The class was almost exclusively reformer based which is my preference. I do not wanna be up on the wall or doing weird things with the ball standing up on the machine. I am very picky with Pilates classes and teachers that I like. And she was able to describe what we needed to do without talking too much. 100% would return read more

My friend introduced me to this studio and I'm so glad she did! It's a beautiful space with great instructors. Every class I've taken has been challenging yet grounding. I've taken maybe 20+ reformer classes before trying Vida, and I haven't yet felt like their classes are too easy or overwhelming - just perfect. I'm not the super athletic girl wearing a perfectly matching Lulu outfit, so I appreciate that it's a diverse group of people taking classes here. Huge bonus that the A/C is great here for those of us that don't love heated classes! read more

If you're worry about parking you shouldn't, there are plenty of space is here. This place is fairly small only maybe 10 people are able to fit comfortably. The instructor I had was very nice, and I think she was the best Pilates instructors I've had. There were a lot of first timer at this class and she went slow and explained every move to us. I think this was the only Pilates class start started and ended with light stretches. I didn't think the class was hard, but it was definitely a great work out, and I would love to come back . read more

I took a class with Marianna and it was Amazinggg !! This was actually my first ever Pilates class so i was a bit nervous going in. It's a small studio with two "sets" of carriages/two different places. As far as the class for a beginner i loved it! She came over and helped each person when you were struggling and would demonstrate how to use the carriage correctly. I felt such a goood burn after the class, throughly enjoyed myself. I've been going to Vida Pilates for quite some time now (thanks ClassPass for getting me hooked!!) and I absolutely love it! I initially started going to Pilates as a way to get more active after I had a SI joint fusion surgery and severe lumbar disc degeneration, and the instructors here helped me slowly transition into becoming active again. I usually go to Bia's classes and they're always a blast She's a wonderful instructor that's very attentive to what injuries you might have, and is good at modifying the workout to prevent injury while still pushing you to grow stronger. I have been coming twice weekly to pilates classes at Vida for 2 years now and my body has dramatically changed! I am thin and fit after years of lethargy and no momentum! It is amazing how Summer Twist can, with only a few pieces of equipment, vary the class routine every time! in such a fashion that one gets comfortably familiar but is consistently challenged to learn and to try more. When I lived in San Diego, I was a regular at Vida's first location in Downtown La Jolla. I recently visited the newer University City location twice when I was in town over the holidays. I was able to drop in because this location is on ClassPass. This location is awesome because they have two separate rooms where classes happen simultaneously with different instructors. That means that you are less likely to run into the problem of a class filling up. All the equipment is in excellent shape including the Allegro-style reformers. They have cardio reformer classes (my favorite, since you get both heart-racing intensity as well as core, leg, and arm strengthening exercises) in addition to the majority of calmer (but challenging!) reformer classes. The class sizes are small and the instructors are great about correcting your form if needed. I highly recommend Ian Isles as an instructor as he is engaging, motivating, and funny! Parking here is much easier than at the La Jolla location, since it's in a mini mall complex anchored by Sprouts. If I lived in San Diego still, I would definitely make this place my go-to for reformer pilates. Vida seems to have a secret sauce for experienced and friendly instructors, classes that do more of what I want them to do (such as more jumpboard in the cardio classes), and a welcoming culture that I don't find at other pilates studios. read more

Vida Pilates UC lovin'.~ Pilates is such a great workout and I love coming here to this studio as it is more smaller and intimate being half the size of the other main studio I go to. The location has ample parking (a bit easier to park than their other location) and is in the same shopping center as Sprouts right above Starbucks. Vida Pilates UC studio is clean, fresh, and modern with restrooms outside, water inside, and cubbies to place your belongings. Booking the class is very easy to do online and is required to reserve your reformer board because of the limited number of spaces. When I first went to Vida at the end of October I tried the *Reformer Fitness* class taught by Marcia which was a great workout. The class incorporates cardio in the mix while using the reformer board along with using weights and the ball at times. I loved the workout and it was my first time also trying the jump board attached to the end of the the reformer. Marcia is a sweetheart and great at giving instruction while at the same time correcting form if needed. Since then I've been back a few times to the UC and LJ locations. The only gripe I have was a class being cancelled on me once which was done the morning of, but other than that a good option for Pilates. :) read more

I've been coming to Vida since it was Chakra back in the day, and it is a FANTASTIC place to get a workout! From reformer pilates to Zumba and dance classes this place has it going on! The instructors here are fantastic. Ian Isles always has me smiling with the best music and funny quips - even during the most pain-in-the-A workouts! He's very knowledgeable about pilates, a total sweetheart to boot and you'll leave his classes with a spring in your step! Arleen Ramos, Zumba Instructor Extraordinaire, has awesome energy and a talent for making sure everyone gets their best dance workout! She also teaches us new and more nuanced salsa steps which is really cool. Arleen is also a stellar employee just across the way at Governor Animal Clinic (where I take my pup!). I don't know how she cares for all those awesome dogs and cats - and still gives us 110% in Zumba class after her long workday! She's amazing! Marcia Gambrel on Fridays is killer! I've done a lot of workouts in my time (Barry's Bootcamp, Sculpt, etc) and nothing was like the workout I did with Marcia a few Friday's back - I burst a blood vessel in my eye! Damn! That was hardcore! (And had me coming back!) Ana Septa is one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet! And once she knows what you're capable of - she'll set you up for an awesome workout - and will challenge your mind and body with creative exercises! Tracy Hirschfeld is by-the-book classical pilates. If you're just wading into the pilates craze - or trying to work on your technique, she's your gal! Tracy gives very detailed cues and will make sure your form is top-notch! Caleigh Meyer is straight-up all business! She knows all the ins and out of pilates and her classes have a well-built flow that will challenge you! My friends Eddie and Andrea are superfans of Caleigh! Lastly, I haven't taken her class yet, but my Zumba pal Paula also teaches here - and she has stellar energy - and the most amazing arms that just don't quit! Can't wait to try her class sometime soon! And Laura Rutledge has been on Maternity Leave but she is one of my most favorite instructors on the planet. Seriously, she really delivers an awesome class and makes sure to give you adjustments and fine-tune your practice so that you get the most effective workout possible. I love this place so much because the instructors are the best! They challenge me and always make it fun with energetic music. The exercises are always well planned, with variations for your skill level. The small studio is so welcoming, like a small tropical oasis with plenty of light, big windows on a 2nd floor, and tropical plants. Customer service was not great all. I sent an email regarding passed I purchased before the pandemic and when I finally get a reply I was told I had to use my pass in 15 days or lose it. By the time I read my email I was already in day 2 of 15. That exchange confirmed that I should not be spending my money at this business. The instructors are great but watch out when you buy those passes they will get you. I like supporting local businesses around me but their business practice turned me off. read more

Been coming here for about 1.5 years and I'm here to stay. Studio's bright and clean, and the location's great if you live in UTC/Clairemont area. Starbucks just downstairs, and a Sprouts in the same shopping center so you can go grocery shopping afterwards :) Importantly, classes are fun, and helped a lot with strength building. I used to have a chronic-ish upper back/shoulder stiffness from spending a lot of time at the computer. A lot of that was corrected after about half a year of going here. Classes are max ~14 people, so instructors are able to go around and give a bit of personal attention and check your form, especially if you let them know that you're new. I would encourage new clients to try classes with several different instructors to find a good fit, because the level of class difficulty can vary. Bia and Adriana are my favorite instructors - they always bring new moves that are challenging, really encourage you to push through, and classes are very energetic. read more
