I have been taking Pilates for about 6 years now, and a few months ago, I started working with Alyssa Jones. Alyssa is one of the best Pilates instructors you will find anywhere, and we are very lucky that she happens to live in Pacific Grove. I moved to this area about 3 years ago from the suburbs of New York, and one of the things I found lacking in the area was really good fitness instructors. However, when I took Pilates sessions with Alyssa, I quickly realized she was excellent. She knew Pilates inside out. If I could give Alyssa a million stars, I would! To say that she is dedicated, knowledgeable, and passionate about Pilates would be an extreme understatement. Besides the pleasure of having had Alyssa Jones as a STOTT PILATES Instructional Trainer for my Pilates certification courses, I also personally sought her out for private Pilates sessions for my own practice. Alyssa Jones is as good as it gets! As a fairly new Pilates convert, I find working with Alyssa extremely rewarding! I am stronger, toned and feel better after my sessions with her. In fact, my husband started taking his own one-on-one private sessions with Alyssa, too. He no longer has back spasms from his desk work. When planning my trips to the Peninsula, after booking flights and lodging my next call is to Alyssa to get my sessions scheduled. Even though I regularly do pilates in Dallas, I try to find a studio when traveling as it's a great way to learn new things. Finding Alyssa was a HUGE gift. She is perfectionist about form & cueing (impt to me) and quickly learns a client's limitations and goals so she can develop a program that is challenging yet fun. Her background gives her a deep understanding of body mechanics and what's necessary to "turn on" muscle groups so that the body is strengthened and properly aligned. (After back & neck surgeries this is critical so I can keep hiking, cycling, and practicing yoga.) The worst thing is I can't take her home with me. Alyssa is the BEST, most delightful pilates teacher. Her verbal and tactile cues are so helpful and easy to follow, and she always has a modification handy to either advance an exercise or make it appropriate for a particular injury. I've had the benefit of Alyssa's instruction many years ago to rehabilitate a sciatic nerve injury and doing private sessions. That was over 10 years ago.
