Case in point: my grandmother was never one for smiling. I cannot find a photo of her in which she was really, genuinely smiling. But she had one of the most hilarious, unexpected (though not always dignified) laughs when she found something funny. I was sold on the extra photographer because their explanation was one would be aimed at us, and one at guests for the same events (to get a fuller picture). Nope, many of our shots were two photographers from different angles. We did their online form and hired them just a few months before our wedding. Somehow they told us the two we selected as our top photographers were available. I kinda feel like it was not true and just propaganda. I just wanted a few photos that I can print and show around my home. I spent $500 after the wedding to take more photos. Also, part of my anger is that my family is latino, and dark skinned. Nearly all of the photos did not include my family. I gave them a list of 4-5 people that were important to us and to get photos (my dad, my aunt). I have one photo of my aunt where she's the focus (she was my mother figure growing up) and she's looking from the side, and I have I believe 3 of my dad. I'm not sure how this happened, but I do have one of my dad that I just love. I asked for about two dozen to get edited one way or another and they tried to charge me just to do that thing you see online where only one color is highlighted in a photo and the rest is greyscale. I couldn't believe the audacity that to do that to just two photos they would charge me. There's free online software, but when you spend around $1k for photographers, you'd think they could spend a short amount of time. Pros: quick turnaround on engagement photos, good engagement photos, friendly Cons: treated me like they were doing me a favor, second photographer was not noticeably adding a benefit, poor photo quality (I'll attach some of the ones they sent me), did not take photos of two of the people I asked to be highlighted, didn't take many photos of the dark skinned people at my wedding. This is one of the most expensive photographers we sought a quote from, so I expected better. In response to my post, Seppi wishes I had reached out to him sooner. I emailed him multiple times regarding not the quality and costs. No offer for reshoot, refund were offered. His response is dose genius. After posting this a coworker told me her friends had the same experience of disappointment with this studio.

There are certainly a dime a dozen photographers who specialize in all sorts of special events, but many of them aren't in the same league as these pros. Capturing the moment is a skill best practiced by the photographers of PPS. Like many before me, I took part in a series of wedding shots (as one of many groomsman) during the summer time and the results that came of it were simply spectacular. Initially I didn't think much of the photographers as they didn't seem to be extremely demanding for our poses, have a vocal sense of direction, and they weren't lugging around much equipment. But after seeing the photos they took post processing, it really is about the person behind the lens, as opposed to the lens itself. They were organized, flexible with large groups of folks, great at composition, and even had a plan for an itinerary of photo taking throughout the day. Not all of us were made to be models, but they did a stellar job of showcasing everyone's best sides. If it were simply about the portfolio, they'd get the job any day. But what made the experience complete, was the fun loving, professional attitude that they managed to incorporate throughout the entire process. Bravo Powers!

The photos were all candid, and real! Bryan had a way of capturing real identities of people. After spending over an hour looking through his work, we called him that evening to book straight away. As an out-of-town couple, we scheduled a few Skype conversations with Bryan so he could get to know us and our style, as well as for us to confirm that he would match our needs. When we flew out to Oregon a few months before the wedding we met for coffee with Bryan to review a draft schedule and create a basic shot list. Bryan was attentive, supportive, and extremely thoughtful -- he put out mind at ease throughout the entire wedding process. On the day of, Bryan had already coordinated with the other vendors to make sure that we didn't need to arrange any logistics during the ceremony or reception. Bryan and his assistant Hannah were excellent at turning what can be a tired and awkward situation (posed photos), into a truly enjoyable and relaxing experience. All this being said above, we waited until we received our photos -- which by our respective parents' standards took "far too long" (2-3 months). However, we were confident that the wait, which Bryan fully disclosed early-on, would be worth it. After the initial 100+ photos (of more than 1,100 taken that day), were posted to his blog, we confirmed that our photographer choice could not have been better. Bryan's work still makes my jaw drop. We are able to relive the day throughout countless moments through all of his candid work. We continue to receive complements on the beautiful pictures from our friends and family, with many of our twenty-something friends saying that they will call Bryan for their weddings. After we received the remaining photos online and via mail on DVD, we asked Bryan to change a few photos from B/W to color, which he did at no charge and within a week of our request. I'm still moony eyed over his artistry that takes wedding photos to a level of an editorial spread or contemporary piece and respect him so much, but we just couldn't pull $ together in time at the cost of other priorities (because I'm so frugal) our entire budget is $10k and Bryan's pricing was $2k to start so we were looking at $3000-$3500 for what we wanted. When it came down to it, I just couldn't spend that kind of $ and wimped out. If you want to look at amazing wedding photos, graphic prints, and awesome urban backdrops, look no further. Honestly his pricing is a bargain considering you have full right and get so many images plus a second shooter and the photo gallery that's already touched up. When you divide his cost by the image number, plus the time to correct the photos and add them to the gallery, it's clear to see he deserves every penny. He's throwing in the terrific for free! We are doing a fri-sun event so it was hard to figure out the hours and such. Eventually we went with someone at a much lower price tag who was willing to be there the whole time. I hope I get to work with him someday! I guess we'll have to get family pics or something.
