On 12/29 I lost the keys to my work truck (I am self employed and perform mobile service). Ampm locksmith came out 12/30 and made two new keys and flashed the cpu to recognize them. One key was defective and I had it remade and flashed a little over a month ago. Two weeks ago my truck refused to start. I found my original key and it also did not work. I had it towed to a shop and they said it was an immobilizer issue and they couldn't fix it, they needed the locksmith to fix. I waited a week for ampm to come back out and they never did (although they said they did). I had the truck towed to the Toyota dealer and my truck was fixed there. I was promised by ampm locksmith a lifetime warranty on the keys. They did not uphold their promise and my business has suffered from it. I requested my money back for the defective product they sold me ($447.02) and for the $160.00 Ashton Auto in Dublin charged for the diagnosis. They only offered to pay the $160. They said there is no way the keys are four months old, they are too worn. I work 7 days a week and the keys are taken in and out of my pocket at least 30 times a day. They are cheap knock off keys that left me stranded and I want my money back. I was very displeased on their decision to say they no longer have a lifetime warranty and to keep their promise. read more

I used to live in San Ramon. When I locked myself out of my house, AMPM came quickly. I now live in San Francisco. When I need anything more than a key made, I drive to San Ramon. I have a 2007 Honda. The automatic locking, unlocking mechanisms on my keys malfunction occasionally. Honda charges several hundred dollars to reprogram them. AMPM gets them working quickly and for less than $100. If you have a key problem, go to AMPM. Their service is even worth a 60+ mile round trip. read more

It's a difficult time to get anyone to come out on short notice, but the really nice lady I spoke with at AM PM Locksmiths was able to dispatch a technician to my place in Dublin within 20 minutes. I found out my front door lock interior knob fell off the lock this afternoon and could not lock my door from inside. I rushed to the nearby AMPM locksmith for urgent repair. The gentleman in the store was very helpful and immediately started to work on my lock, and was able to fix my lock quickly. He also made good adjustment and lubrication of my over 20 years old Baldwin lock. The repair cost was also very reasonable. We had them over the rekey a house we just moved into. We wanted to replace two door knobs and add a deadbolt. One of the two wasn't replaced and they replaced a different set of door knobs that were perfectly fine for $180. They replaced the wrong locks in our home then when we called to ask why perfectly good knobs were replaced they said knobs should only last 5 years and the house was 10 years old. I called to ask that one of their experts confirm that the locks they removed were truly deteriorated in some way and they said they'd call back and never did. They even said "we believe in service" and never even responded. Oh, and after they installed the new keys, they didn't actually hand over the keys. When they returned we were told the boss was angry that the invoice for $500 was under-billed by $80 and we needed to pay that too. Seriously? read more

These guys are great! I am quite surprised to see a few negative reviews; however, I believe that my review has more credence as I own a multi-unit rental property and have enjoyed their excellent service several times over the last few years. If they did indeed have a single lame employee, I hope that that has sorted itself out by now. I once recommended AMPM to a picky coworker who doesn't suffer fools gladly, and she too has been delighted with their service. The good folks there have always politely answered my inquisitive (and non-revenue generating) questions as well. I am generally fine with bringing the locksets to AMPM to be rekeyed, and any locksmith should be able to do that work without drama (as does AMPM), but it is the unusual challenges that test a company's service. One of those things is a fancy lockset made by XXX that has been modified to accept a tumbler made by YYY so that this lock can take the same key as the others in the house. And to make life more interesting, modifications to the ornate door and the lock hardware require the use of special tools that I don't have in my thousand dollar plus pile of tools, and this engineer hasn't figured out how to improvise a solution. What is cool is that they have (on multiple occasions) come out and rekeyed that Frankenstein of a lock, and charged me nothing more than their going rate. Nice! Another experience a while back had to do with my reposession of a property from some problem children who (briefly) all left at once and gave me a small window of opportunity. I called AMPM and told them that I needed them there *NOW,* and I didn't care if they were in their underwear or it would cost me a thousand dollars; I just needed them there ***RIGHT NOW!*** Wow; they got there faster than the cops had I called '911,' and again, they didn't charge me any more than their going rate for emergency service. :-) The last thing that I want to mention is that their storefront isn't just an ugly counter; they have a water cooler, comfy chairs, and a variety of cool and useful stuff for sale. When I was recently there, I showed up less than one minute before closing time, but the owner satisfied my several requests, saving me a later trip. Oh, I expressed admiration for a silly trinket, and he threw it in for free. I apologize for this review being so long, but in my experience, these guys are tops. read more

Purchased two keys for a Ford in Sept. 2014. Within a week one of the keys completely popped open, battery, computer chip, everything fell out. We were given a new key. After a couple weeks, that one failed as well (lost its programming). We were given another key. Again, after a few weeks that one lost its programming and the key fell out of the fob. They finally replaced that one with a Ford key. That one still works. Fast forward to June 2015. The second key they made us back in September lost its programming and the key came out of the fob when parking the car. Went back with a copy of the receipt and the bad key. After fiddling around for 45 min., they said to come back in a week. Did so. After 30 min. they tried to tell me my old key was fine. I pulled the key right out of the fob. They scrambled to find a replacement and couldn't. Finally, after an hour I walked out. We're out $130 and will NEVER go back. If you want a spare key that works, go to your dealership or find a different locksmith. read more

I recently had to replace the lock on my frond door. The house is 20+ years old and the old lock has been beat to hell over the years. I called one locksmith in Danville who just said it will be $500 bucks and then practically hung up on me. Not exactly the way to win hearts and minds. I mean, I understand, dealing with the public and people trying to chisel you for few bucks does get annoying - I'm self-employed, I sell stuff, but still how hard it is to be friendly on the phone? Okay, enough about the crappy locksmith in Danville, who's name rhymes with "Dad's".. AMPM is awesome. The guy had the part i needed and came out at 5pm and stayed until 6:30pm installing my new locks. He made me extra keys for free and he even came back and gave me my money back when i accidentally over paid him. An honest man. This guy is a good businessman and you should use him if you ever need locks fixed. I also noticed that they do electronic keys for BMW, MRBZ, and other european and import makes. They are way cheaper than the dealership so i'll probably hit them up for that as well. Oh and one more thing, they sell safes! If i can convince the better half to let me have a gun, i'm definitely going to buy one of those things - especially the one with the thumb-print identification that is way too sweet. read more

Called yesterday, said they'd call back. Didn't. Called again, said they'd be here at 10am today. They weren't. Called them at 10:30, they were disrespectful on the phone. Made excuses. Gave us a 40 minute wait time. Finally got here, estimated it to take 1 hour. 2 and half hours later, they can't fix the mistake. They won't answer our questions. The mechanic, who we understood was just doing his best & couldn't fix it, was rude when we asked him how much longer it would be (past the estimated time). Then, instead of asking us if we wanted our car towed (the reason we picked his service instead of someone else's was that they specifically said it didn't need to be towed & could fix in our parking garage), or discussing with us at all, he called his manager, and said they needed to tow our car. When we said we'd rather tow through our insurance, and that's why we picked them (who agreed to fixing it in the garage without towing), he became verbally hostile with my fiancé. I called his manager, assuming he would want to know the horrible overall experience we had in order to improve customer service. Instead he yelled at me, argued that our car shouldn't be having the issue he agreed he could rectify, & told me I shouldn't expect his mechanic to answer our questions. read more

Superb service to rectify a number of problems created over a number of years: a Weslock handleset for which there was no replacement needed to be gutted and have new hardware installed; some minor pain-in-the-a$$ adjustments to a number of door locks, new handle sets, and dead bolts installed that needed fine tuning; and, a patio slider latch/lock mechanism needed repair. We were serviced by Miguel, an absolute expert at his trade. He attacked each problem with skill and was finished in a very short while. Repair costs were more than reasonable. This is the second or third time we've used AM PM; if you're local and they can service your locksmithing needs there are none better. read more

I think they are awesome. As it turns out, you can go to these guys, or to the dealer. Not to many options getting a smart key made. You have to understand a little about getting a smart key made to understand it's not that easy. If you can get done what you set out to accomplish, your shouldn't complain because it cost you a hundred dollars, that is the cost of doing business. They have a truck, computer they use to duplicate smart keys, and labor. Get over thinking your supposed to get something for nothing. My daughter has used this company each time she moves into a new home. They come out and rekey everything. She has been very happy with the speed, friendliness, and quality of their work. Do you live in a condo/apt complex where they give you pool and mailbox keys that are imprinted "do not duplicate?" Well this is the place to go. I had lost my extra mailbox and pool key. Management wanted to charge me $25 for lost keys. AMPM's cost for duplicating two keys was less than $10. On another visit, I needed an extra front door key. Absolutely terrible. I came in to get my BMW key duplicated and the guy took 2 HOURS of my time just to make a key that DID NOT WORK and he STILL CHARGED ME $50. He told me "yeah but you took our time and now you have an extra key." What a load of crap. You took my time as well and didn't produce a functioning key and took my money along with it. read more

The only reason I'm giving a 4 star instead of a 5 is because the first person they sent over was late and didn't call me. However, once I called Chida to ask about the guy not showing up, he personally came over to my house within 10 minutes and re-keyed my new house as well as replaced the front door lock. Chida was very informative, and told me that my front door lock could've been picked in less than 2 minutes! (No, I will not tell you my new address. :p) His prices are reasonable and he's a very nice person. Great service - and I will call him when I want to add a deadbolt to the front door as well as some add locks at my office building. Highly recommend! read more

I have driven by the San Ramon office located on Crow Canyon for many years. Recently had the key fob on my 2012 Honda Civic die. These newer car keys are great for theft prevention but quite another story when they go out on you. Anyways, took a chance on a walk-in visit today on my lunch break from work. Pressed for time, the person who greeted me says "have a seat won't be long". There was additional time involved as I asked them to create another spare key (involves coding not just cutting a new key these days). Anyhoo. Got out of there with 2 fully functional key fobs and back to work in less than an hour. Reasonable price. Fully recommend. read more

The ignition cylinder on my 2001 Toyota was having problems turning. The car could not be started easily. The dealer quote was high, but he let slip that they were only going to call a locksmith. So instead of paying for a locksmith with markup, I called AMPM. They fixed the ignition cylinder. The same key works in all locks. And they reprogrammed my key fobs, all for less than half of what the Toyota dealer estimated. read more

Dropped an ignition cylinder off with old and new keys at the store to be rekeyed and was told it would take 45 mins so I went and killed some time I can back and was told the key was too badly worn out and is understandable so I happened to have the extra key that was perfect I gave it the guy then he said come back tomorrow to pick it up so I come back the next day and was told it didn't get done and I could pick it up Monday at 10 thankfully I called before going down to the store on Monday because they still haven't got to it ...the point is it takes 20 mins to rekey and old cylinder it's not from a modern vehicle the problem is they don't commit to what they say I guess I should have read more of the reviews I suggest finding someone else next time . read more

I needed a second key for My daughters Honda and had a fob Blank that needed cut and programmed. Went to AMPM and had them prepare the new key using my good key to cut the new. The blank I had would not work. The owner after some effort with my blank tweaking and polishing to get it to work used a brand new name brand blank to try again. Again using my key (which works perfectly in all locks and ignition) as the guide to cut second key would not work. He called the dealer and got the cut code and used a 3rd Name brand blank to cut and program. This key worked! I don't believe there was any error on AMPMs part and the final cost was just a very small bit over 50% of quotes I received from other businesses. Great Service. Very Nice people. Got to my project very quickly. I will definitely us AMPM for my locksmith needs in the future. read more
