Amadiz Cigar Shop What a great time! The next time you are on City Island in the Bronx, save an hour to enjoy a cigar at Amadiz. Great selection, very fair prices. This cigar lounge comes complete with lots of comfortable leather chairs, cigar art, big screen TVs to watch the game, and salsa music to set the right tone. The crowd is very friendly, but I have yet to be in a cigar lounge where this was not so. Looks like quite a few regular customers, always a good sign. The owner, Humberto Amadiz, explained that his family makes their own label in the Dominican Republic. The blend is of both Dominican leaves and Ecuadorian leaves. The next time I am there I will try one and update this report. The shop is on City Island Avenue, between Beach Street and Bowne Street, right across from Seafood City. Not to be missed! read more

Totally enjoying this cigar, however the person who sold it to me was extremely uninviting. I am a fan of aromatic cigars, particularly coffee or chocolate type of cigars... however, I am open to full bodied cigars... he was very difficult with his suggestions as I was asking him. I ended up getting this cigar, not due to his recommendation because he really had none. I felt like he just wanted to get my husband and myself out of there. It was extremely disappointing as we are new to the island and seeking a local place to buy our cigars aside from the place we are members to near Yankee stadium. This is not our first rodeo, he was passive aggressive and gross is attitude. I work in customer service and he was a disgusting person to deal with. I will definitely visit again, but not at the daytime hours. read more

WARNING! If you drive to fast you will miss it. As you drive into city island, on your left side not to far from Seafood City, you will find this place. It's an excellent little gem on City Island, not to mention its the only cigar lounge/ store on the island. Excellent selection of premium & hand rolled cigars (on site). The specialize in Dominican cigars, but a good portion of their premium stuff is from honduras and nicaragua. They do sell flavored cigars like vanilla, cherry, etc. for the beginners The leather chairs are "seasoned" but also takes a beating from the salty sandy air. Not to big on entertaining a crowd with a television, but their floor has a capacity of 30+ people. No big offers or sales on bundles, just face value. But like most city island attendees, you are there for a fish seafood or the drinks. if you are a cigar aficionado, like myself, you will be pleased with their selection. I am going to just purchase a couple of cigars, headed down to the pier, by myself a drink, and light my Arthuro Fuente or Gloria Cubana. read more

Nice little spot to relax and chill. Comfortable leather chairs and couches. They have some pretty good surrounding restaurants to get food at. And the prices are responsible. A friend of mine had an event there to sell Rojas cigars. It's a bit of a hustle getting here from the subway. Remember to take the tunnel painted in graffiti. I love this place every time I'm in New York me and my buddies make it a point to visit, bring a 6 pack and sit in their comfortable leather couches! When you walk in its a little intimidating because there are always a bunch of regulars hanging out, who draw the attention of the staff so you feel like you don't want to ask a question. If you do have a question however, just ask and they are really polite! When we sat down to smoke it was relaxing and everyone who walked in and out greeted us upon coming in and leaving! This is a great cigar shop by far. It is in a prime location where you can eat great seafood, also you can enjoy the golf driving range only 1/2 mile down the road, and then stop off for a cigar. Second the owner and the employees are very courteous and assist with any questions. Third the atmosphere is a true cigar shop with sports on the plasmas and comfortable furniture. Enjoy some espresso or a Snapple. I never been to the cigar club on the other side but I have popped my head and it seems like a cool place to sit back and lit up. read more

Sometimes when I forget to bring cigars to CI I always go to Amadiz they have a good selection, it's a little small for a lounge but thats ok.....just make sure you check your cigars for freshness I got caught out there once and got a bad cigar because I was rushing......Amadiz is a nice place but the only problem I have is that a couple of times I went there to get cigars there were kids in there and smoke blowing all over the place.......that needs to change read more
