In the world famous Arthur Avenue retail market sits a brilliant and quaint cigar shop known as La Casa Grande. As soon as you enter the market your eye will be drawn to the three or four employees rolling out a wide variety of quality cigars. I'll be the first to admit my cigar knowledge is limited, but I won't deny that I love a good cigar every here and there. I usually purchase my stogies from Tony at Hardwicke's off of Monument Circle, but on this particular day, I couldn't resist the hand-rolled (right in front of me) cigars at La Casa. The cashier directed us to the drier room with a baggy in which we could select three for $10 - not shabby! One for pops. Two for moi. He then informed me that they keep crazy-busy in the summer months with events like weddings and golf outings in which they roll on-site. How neat would that be? The cherry on top was that I was able to purchase cheese, plants, oils, produce and cigars all under one roof. What more could a girl ask for? read more

My experience with LCG Cigars: I initially ordered the Maduro "bullets. After a couple days of not receiving a tracking number I called and was told over the phone that the system wasn't working and they couldn't look up my order. I call again the next day and then was told that they were too busy to look up my order and to call back. After about two weeks I call to follow up and someone took down my name and number to pass along about my order. I was then left a voicemail from LCG saying that the "bullets" mold wouldn't be in for months but also there haven't been many cigar makers on duty so the order was also delayed because of that. Finally someone offers to send the maduro torpedos instead and I agree. Today I received the CT torpedoes that don't appear to be all that fresh. A poor showing from what I think may be a great cigar maker with a wreck of a admin/shipping department. Buyer beware, if it's listed on the website it may not be actually available to order and they will still charge your card the amount. read more

My father had a tobacco plantation and visiting La Casa Grande brought back nostalgic memories of tobacco leaves and the rolling of cigars. The people rolling the cigars are very friendly and consented to my taking a pictures of them. I no longer smoke but I could not leave without buying a half dozen cigars for my brother. They were very reasonably priced and of good quality. I'm sure that I'll be going back again and bringing family with me next time. read more

I thought through the yelp postings that one could pick the tobacco and watch the rollers hand-roll your cigars right in front of you. When in fact that isn't the case. The hand rollers are rolling the cigars to put in the humidor room not your individual cigars...was disappointed in that bought 2 cigars for my father but otherwise what is the point in going to this establishment when you can get a cigar anywhere in NYC. Unfortunately, my fiancé and I were sooo busy with all the wedding things that we didn't get to stop by their table...however all of our guest raved about them!!! The cigars are then placed in the humidor room to ensure freshness. You will see the rollers rolling cigars all day long. If they're out of your pleasure they will roll it for you while you wait. I just went to an event at oheka castle where they had La Casa Grande hand rolling cigars. It was the most amazing thing i have ever seen! My husband tipped the girl assitant to give us a few extra cigars and he gave them to his clients and colleagues at the firm and everyone loved them! I heard the company was actually featured on the Sopranos too. I would deffinately recommend them. However i have not had a chance to check out the actual store yet.
