I've been to the Virgin Islands 5 times and used Amalie 4 times. They are hands down the best car rental company I've ever used. It's easy to book a car, no waiting in line, prompt transportation from the airport to their lot and they'll have someone at the airport to take your car. The Jeeps are all low mileage and in pristine condition Great customer service and the people that work for them are super friendly and seem to enjoy working for the company. If you're going to St. John to stay don't be afraid of the car ferry it's easy to use. Get food on St. Thomas (it will cost 3x as much on St. John). Taxis to the passenger ferry are expensive and charge for your bags. The Jeeps on St. John are older and cost more. We always rent from Amalie hit Cost U Less and take the car ferry over. read more

I am a season traveler and this is hands down the best car rental experience I have had from any company in any location anywhere. What's particularly impressive is that service in the Virgin Islands generally stinks. It's slow, and many of the people seem annoyed with tourists. Not only was the pricing a lot less than most other people, but they actually met me right outside the gate, and then when I went to drop off my car, I pulled up right at the baggage drop off and they were sitting there waiting for me. No shuttle, nothing. Also, it was the fastest that I have ever been processed into my car, and processed out of my car. Wow. Just wow. I read bad experience posts about other rental companies on TripAdvisor during my research for our stay last week and went with Amalie because their TripAdvisor reviews were all good. Boy was I glad I did. I reserved online but they require a phone call for the credit card info and the phone call was pleasant. When we arrived for our 1 week stay, they met us right at exit of the terminal with a sign holding our name. They text me the morning of our departure with a polite text asking us what time we planned to be at the airport. The same gentleman who handed off the perfect condition Jeep met us at the curbside. He was so professional and polite. I wish I could have gotten his name because his service was excellent. It's also important to know that not all rental companies will let you take their vehicles on the car ferry to St. John but Amalie does. I'm sure it's because the terrain is pretty steep and narrow there. read more

We had a really great experience with this company. They met us at the baggage carousel in the airport as promised and took us right to our brand new Jeep Wrangler (1,800 miles), gave us a quick tutorial of the vehicle, Amy handed us a map with clear arrows to our car ferry destination, and we were on our way. Vehicle was perfect -absolutely no problems. On our return we decided to go to the airport a little early and texted Amy to let her know, and she had a guy waiting for us at the curb when we got there. Super service, great vehicle! You pay just a little more for this level of service, but for us, it was very worth it. We saw a lot of other rental jeeps around and many had bald tires and the whole vehicles looked quite worn. We just got back from St Thomas and I would highly suggest this car company. We rented a 4x4 Jeep Wrangler 4 door. It had to be only a year or two old and was in great condition. We had a toddler with us and they were able to add a car seat for a very fair price which was big help to not have to worry about bringing ours with us. Pickup was easy, they pick you up in front of baggage claim and when you drop the car off you just bring it to the arrivals area and a employee picks the car up there. Can't recommend highly enough! We had a wonderful experience with Amalie Car Rental. We rented on St Thomas and then headed over to St John for the week on the car barge. Amy was very communicative and eliminated any feeling of loose ends needing to be tied. The text messages from the company were invaluable! They provide text instructions prior to landing. Arriving at the airport in St Thomas we were greeted by an employee with an iPad with our name on it. My husband spent a few minutes getting important info and inspecting the jeep and we were on our way! The morning of departure we received a text message with drop off instructions at the airport. We rented two brand new 2020 Jeep Wranglers (5 seaters and ample room for luggage) from Amalie for our travel party of 5 couples. The Amalie associate was waiting outside baggage claim with our name on a sign. We drove a few minutes to the car rental parking lots to inspect the vehicles, sign the paperwork, get a St Thomas map - including directions to the St John car ferry. We were back with our travel group at the airport within 20 minutes, loaded the luggage right outside baggage claim and off we went. The car ferry was a scenic 25 minute ride, essentially following the main road. The St John Car Ferry was $35 each way and much more economical vs. taking a cab to the ferry and moving all of our luggage to the more crowded people ferry. Our luggage stayed in the Jeeps until we reached our villa on St John. Upon departure, we simply pulled up to the airport arrival / departure curb and were waived down by the Amalie associates. Super convenient and thoroughly enjoyed the Jeeps on the steep and winding St John roads. Excellent service and Jeeps from Amalie! read more

My family just spent 7 days on St. John USVI and rented 3 jeeps from this company. Best on the island, whether renting on St Thomas or St. John. They picked us up at St Thomas airport with three brand new jeeps, all with just a few thousand miles. Took ferry to St John and went from there. Had one minor issue with one Jeep on St. John and they swapped out with another new Jeep that day on St. John! Met there representative at check in at St. Thomas and went on our way. I received really great service from Amalie Car Rental on a recent trip. The car was waiting for us upon arrival outside the terminal. Brand new cool colored jeep. Their pricing was competitive with the others I looked at. The jeep was exactly what we needed for some of the crazy hills and turns on St. Thomas and St. John. Amy worked with me on several Covid related contingencies and I was able to extend my rental with nothing more than an email exchange. Drop off was made easier than even National Rental Car here in the mainland in that they were just waiting for me at the terminal. Swapped out the keys and car and off I went. We had an easy and enjoyable experience with this company from start to finish. To reserve our Jeep, we easily submitted the form on their website and then called them about a week later to give credit card information over the phone. Amy was pleasant and helpful. That same day, we received an email confirmation for our Jeep. The day prior to our trip, I emailed Amy to confirm our reservation which she said was all set. The day of arrival, Amy texted us to let us know someone would be waiting outside the airport for us. Sure enough, an Amalie Car Rental representative was waiting with our name in hand. They took us in their courtesy van over to their rental lot where we signed our rental agreement and got right into our Jeep which was clean and appeared almost brand new. We had no issues taking our car over to St John on the ferry. WOW This was the very best experience I have ever had with a car rental company. They offered a brand new vehicle. We rented a 2-Door Jeep Wrangler 2-Door 2 Passengers (Only) 4 Wheel Drive, Automatic Hardtop (Not Removable) If you want to talk about excellent service and easy pickup and delivery this is the company to look for. We arrived at 11 pm to the airport on St Thomas USVI. The car was waiting for us with the keys in it and our agreement was located in the glovebox. They charged us for the vehicle the day before we showed up. Confirmed the reservation via text. Let us know via text where to find the car and all the information we needed. We took it on the ferry to St John and spent 2 weeks on the island. When we returned the car they sent us a text message the morning of our departure to find out if everything was ok and when we would like them to meet us at the airport. They were there to wave us in with a handshake and a smile right on time! They reviewed the car and said thank you and drove off. These guys do an incredible job and I have used them several times. I tied he cheap route and it was a hassle and a junk car that smelled. Amalie has all new jeeps, we rented the 4 door 4 wheel drive. We arrived at the ferry dock and they left the car there for me right at the door.
