As soon as our flight arrived in St. Thomas, the receptionist was calling my wife and inquiring where we were. The receptionist was rude and bothered that we were picking up after hours. When we arrived to STJ car rental we were greeted by the same receptionist. We signed our paperwork and received our vehicle. The vehicle was clean and we had no complaints. Per the rental policy, the vehicle's gas tank needs to be filled upon return. We had an early flight out of St. Thomas and an even earlier ferry ride from St. John. Since the gas station didn't open until 7AM, we elected to fill the vehicle the night before. When we dropped the vehicle off at STJ car rental, the vehicle was full of gas... however, I noticed a $34 charge on my credit card from St. John Car Rentals a few days later. There is a $20 fee for an unfilled gas tank per the rental policy, as well as the cost to fill the tank... A gallon of gas on the island is upwards of $7. This tells me that St. John Car Rental charged me $34 for two gallons of gas. I could understand if a quarter of a tank was gone but $34 is a money grab. There are better rental options on the island.

With that information, I called to confirm with a credit card the next day, and then received another email confirming my reservation. For pick-up, we called Conrad Sutton from our villa, and they came to pick us up and drive us to their location! Our driver was prompt and very friendly. Once at their location, check out was pretty straightforward, a matter of completing paperwork, and showing our drivers licenses. We then did a full inspection of our rental car, noting all the dings and marks to the car prior to our taking possession. Everything my husband and I pointed out was documented on a sheet of paper, and we were given a copy. One great bonus of renting through Conrad Sutton was the ability to park in their lot whenever we drove to Cruz Bay. We used this more than once, when having dinner in town or shopping. They are very conveniently located just around the corner from Wharfside Village, and down the street from Rhumb Lines and Longboard. One time we parked and a Conrad Sutton employee was cleaning out a recently returned vehicle. He re-parked our car for us so we'd have a better spot upon our return, and even vacuumed out the car for us! Returning the car was easy, and there were no hidden mystery charges or gotchas. We made sure we thoroughly vacuumed out the car ourselves after several more days at the beach, and returned the car with a full tank of gas, both per the rental agreement. Overall, we had a great experience with Conrad Sutton, and I will be renting from them again the next time I'm in St. John. Recommended.

We made a last minute (2-3 days prior to arrival) reservation with the staff and was surprised that a Jeep was even available during Carnival week. The phone reservation was quick and courteous, and when we arrived at the ferry, two gentlemen were there to pick us up at the promised time. All prior damages to the rental was noted and communicated with us, and we were off on our way. Per return, we couldn't find exactly where to return the rental so instead the staff on location helped us anyway to finish up processing the rental; they even complimentary drove us to the ferry with our luggage. Customer service was impeccable and will definitely rent from their company again when we return to USVI!

It was a very easy, short walk to the rental from the ferry. The representative who worked with us was super nice and welcoming. She did a walk-through of the jeep with us prior to us signing the papers; she found a few minor issues with the rental and took note of it. Besides that, the jeep looked pristine. Return was also really easy; we just returned the keys and went off on our merry way. There were no hidden fees or extra charges. Just follow the rules (keep the car clean and free of sand, don't remove the top, and return on time) and you'll be a happy customer.

We rented from the 11th to the 15th of June, and we loved our little lime green Jeep Wrangler. On day three, we went to leave where we were parked, and the door didn't unlock at first, and then the Jeep wouldn't start. We panicked a bit but looked up the emergency start with a Faab and took it immediately back to the lot. The young lady was super helpful and pleasant and said it was probably the battery. She switched it out, and it worked fine the remaining two days. When we went to return it this morning, the attendant noticed the Faab was not being responsive again. Long story short, they said based on the rental agreement that we were responsible for the key Faab ($650), even though we returned it, had it inspected, and changed. By their own admission, there was no evidence of water or damage (because there wasn't). They also stated that the Faab was new and no one had rented it but us since being replaced. The owner was on the phone and basically told the young lady that this is a business, and they had to recoup "something," so they charged us $150. I pushed back, saying you're assuming our fault, but I could also say that the Faab itself was defective, and we were the unlucky renters. At the end of the day, they charged us the $150 because they had our card, and the nice young lady turned passive-aggressive to defend her job due to her boss's pressure, I'm assuming. So we will not rent here again when we visit St. John's, and you should beware as well!
