The quality of the food was amazing and they were able to accommodate people in our group who are vegetarian. The sauces were delicious! Big Foot is the real deal- the only thing missing from Granville County's (perhaps the Triangle's?)…read morebest (I'd say only) purveyor of whole hog barbecue is a brick-and-mortar location, but that's not a deal-breaker for me. Big Foot makes what old timers sit around and talk about when they discuss their archetypal pig-pickin', that is to say: slow-cooked (locally-farmed) whole hog, on charcoal and wood smoke, served chopped with plenty of bark, with sides that make sense. The ribs are country-style: thick, still juicy, with a bit of snap, and with a perfect bone-to-lean ratio. They do bird, too, and do it surprisingly well. Their smoked chickens are moist and delicious, and perfect for Sunday dinner. Want a real treat? Try their smoked chicken salad on some Strong Arm focaccia one afternoon. Sauces vary to please the discerning BBQ palate, but there's nothing over-the-top. This isn't competition barbecue, it's barbecue that people line up for on Sunday afternoon, it's the kind of barbecue that people seek out when they are driving through Granville County on the way home from Virginia, because if you know, you know (and want). Kelly and team sometimes go off piste with some more creative sides, but again, they make sense, like the barbecue/collards/sometimes Mac-and-cheese egg rolls that show up in a catering spread. You should always choose their fantastic string beans (get anything green on the side, for that matter). Big Foot pops up in the Triangle, so be on the lookout- it's authentic, pork-and-smoke-forward North Carolina barbecue, a whole-hog experience that will not disappoint. Until there's a brick and mortar, you can find their next service on Instagram and Facebook.

Soul food (when done right) is expensive, time consuming, but most importantly a labor of love. Our Kale's Kitchen food didn't taste like business. It was something akin to what you would expect granny to serve Sunday after service. Our orders of Turkey Wing, and Stuffed Chicken were each accompanied with green beans and mac and cheese. I also ordered a side of yams. The Turkey Wing was tender and flavorful. The green beans (from a can, I believe) were cooked in a broth of some kind and well seasoned. Mac and cheese buttery and loaded with a mild cheese(s). The stuffed chicken is a very large breast stuff with a more complex cheese mixture similar to perhaps an artichoke dip. Yams thick not watery and well seasoned. Very, very, very good! Fun fact: I used to really be out here ordering from these Instagram chefs and Kales Kitchen was one of them. I think it was a 10 meal prep for less than $100.00. We had a quality issue and she was quick to respond and resolve and I love to see the growth. With that being said, you will have to be flexible. They are still working through process issues. However, for me, the food justified the inconvenience. Considering all the hype that isn't an easy feat. Soul Food 4.7

Was excited to try a new place but beware, their hours vary by day. I arrived where their website…read moresaid they were open till 3:59am only to be told they closed at 8:30pm on a Saturday... I was also told the menu changes daily... whenever I'm on this side of town maybe I'll give them a try but I won't go out of my way to visit a place that says download Instagram to see if they're open/what they have for the day. You're a restaurant with a website wasting a domain ... at least ATTEMPT to keep that accurate! Also, to clarify: If you check sanitation scores like I do - they used to be listed as KALE'S KITCHEN but are now listed as KALES AT JOE'S DINER. They do have a good grade though!! Just something to be aware of if you check places frequently like I do.

The articles all state that Duke's Mayo (my favorite brand) is running pop ups in 4 locations in your area to try their sauces on some amazing chicken, based on recipes by some fancy chef. Just pick a sauce, your choice of tenders, nuggests, or a chicken sandwich. Add large "sea salted" waffle fries for $3.69. And an optional 2 more Duke's sauces for free. Also available is Duke's merchandise including branded hats, socks, and ful size bottles of their sauces. DO Y'ALL KNOW YOU'RE LISTENING TO THESE SUPPOSED IG INFLUENCERS TOO DAMN MUCH?! THAT'S PDQ CHICKEN & FRIES. NOT A DAMN GHOST KITCHEN. AND PDQ USES SOME OF THESE SAUCES TO BEGIN WITH. DUKE'S IS EVEN HIGHLIGHTED ON THEIR MENU. Now, that said. If you like PDQ, go ahead and try it. The tenders I got were about $1.30 less on promotion pricing when I searched Duke's Sauce Shack on DoorDash, then on the regular PDQ menu. There is also a $3 off delivery promo that popped up. So since I've never had a hankering for PDQ, I said well let me try it anyway so I know. Now I know...I'll just stick with Bojangles or Popeyes,... thank you. And I'm fine with that. But if you THINK some fancy chef from Duke's is standing inside a PDQ cooking you something special, you done bumped your damn head. Always do your research people.

I hoped I could find someone for a spell that would make delicious, healthy food that would also give my wife some extra free time. A double win. Chef Kristen has knocked that goal out of the park. First she met with us to get a really detailed understanding of our preferences and feelings on specific ingredients. Then she creates a set of menu choices we can review and select from. Next she sends us shopping list we can modify based on what we have in the pantry and she picks up the rest. That's all there is to it. But that's just the process. What about the food? Holy God. You can see from her website that the food is visually stunning. But the taste is just sensational. We are not vegetarian or vegan, but we have enjoyed trying out this diet during our time with Chef Kristen and the flavors and sensations she is able to render from plant-based ingredients (ex: lentil meatballs you will swear have meat in them) show a real mastery of technique. She has also changed my opinion on a number of previously polarizing ingredients. I'm looking at you mushrooms! Lastly, she's just extremely nice and easy to work with. She gets to know your family and enjoys sharing stories and hearing feedback on the food. We're so glad to have found her and our whole family, including our 9 year-old son give her the highest recommendation.
