After my initial experience, I contacted the salon on April 14 to request a refund and give them an opportunity to resolve this directly. I asked to speak with Amanda Maddox but was told she was unavailable. The manager, Kalyn, took my call. I explained the situation and offered to provide photos. Her response was that they had already seen the images online. They later returned my call and declined to offer any resolution. I asked whether the extensions appeared to be properly installed, and was told that since two of their stylists felt they looked fine, that was the salon's position. The manager also stated she was not a stylist and could not comment on the quality of the work. At that point, it became clear there would be no accountability or attempt to make this right. My takeaway: if something looks off, feels off, and multiple outside professionals confirm it, trust your instincts and address it immediately-because in this case, there was no willingness to revisit or resolve the issue later. read more

I made an appointment with Abbie McCarter to add some medium lowlights to break up my blonde highlights that were getting a little too heavy. I'm giving a one star because while the Amanda Maddox salon itself is beautiful, high end, and has great energetic atmosphere, my actual service was a disaster. I had a full consult the day before to map out exactly what I wanted and despite all my reiterating my needs for a slow transition and keeping some of my prepaid highlights many times during the appointment, the stylist completely ignored the plan and had a mind of her own. I walked out with a horribly different color than I wanted, only to be told by her that she " made it look better "instead of acknowledging the mistake. To make matters worse, the salon does not allow any refunds. They offered to fix it but that leaves you questioning "do you really want to return to the scene of the crime?". I booked a level three and I brought a friend who booked a level one stylist. My friend came out much happier and satisfied with her level one stylist. I've been going to this salon for many, many years. I can't believe I was duped for so long. Zero respect for Amanda. after 5 attempts by my stylist over 6 months to give me dimension with chunky, dramatic, dark lowllights and light hi light, i asked to go back to blonde at my last visit. but yet again, fail. I was over it. 6 tries and well over $1000, was enough grace. I ended up with a darker base than I've ever had before, and dark highlights that just blended. no accountability by the stylist for STILL not giving me what I was asking for, and Amanda, the manager/owner said she wasn't available to talk to me. Wouldn't take 5 minutes to see if there was anything they could do to make it right or even apologize! she wasn't even there! so by duped, I mean that I continued to go to this salon for years and years thinking they actually cared about their work and took pride in what they were sending out into the world. I went to this salon yesterday & saw Ashley. I asked for a blunt hair cut just below my shoulders. My hair is thin and straight so it's typically very easy to work with. Ashley was extremely nice but unfortunately I got an awful hair cut. My hair is an inch above my shoulders & not only that but their are large uneven chunks of hair where she didn't cut correctly & my hair is uneven in the back. I can't wear my hair down now and it barely all fits into a pony tail. High end, salon prices, strip mall clips quality services. Had a balayage I was very happy with six weeks prior. I went in for a root touch up and conditioning treatment. The stylist told me she was also going to use a toner to even out what she felt was a brassy color. Well even it out she did! My hair is now all over dark brown with no highlights! I scheduled an appointment to have it fixed and the stylist reached out to me to see what was going on. I explained the situation to her and she basically called me a liar and that if I didn't like the way that she was doing my hair, I needed to let her know during the service not after. I then sent her a picture of what my hair now looks like and she admitted that she had made a mistake. I did not go back to get it fixed because after being called a liar, I didn't feel like I could trust the stylist. In addition, I asked for a texture spray to help hold curl, and she sold me a spray oil that actually straightened my hair. When I tried to return it, I could only get store credit, even though I called them the next day to let them know I would be returning the product. Apparently only the owner can make decisions on refunds to customers and she's never there. In listening to the stylists, it seems most of them have recently graduated from cosmetology school. Know that is the level of service that Amanda Maddox salon provides. The front desk staff is incredibly rude and unprofessional. This is not a high end salon, the stylist have little to no actual experience and clearly don't know the difference between hair spray, texture spray, and dry shampoo. A couple of weeks ago my great aunt and grandmother wanted to get haircuts - of course appointments are hard to make with their age - I called Amanda Maddox because this is where I get my haircuts - days before Christmas and they squeezed 3 haircuts and styles in. We each had a great experience but I was so touched at how well the staff treated my grandmother and great aunt. I recently moved to the local area. I have bombshell brand hair extensions. I informed the salon of this when I scheduled my appointment for a color and a move up. I've had extensions for over three years and I've never had a problem. While the stylus was nice and friendly and the facility is clean and stylish, I will be canceling all future appointments. The stylist did the move up within two days hair chunks started falling out of my extensions. I went back shortly after to have them taken a look at and they blamed the brand. In an effort to give the salon a second chance knowing I was new to town, I had my next move up scheduled today. Including a root touchup I was there for five hours. I think this is excessive and unnecessary. In addition, while this move up was slightly better, as it was tighter and felt more secure, I had to go back into the chair because one West was not anchored properly. After I paid and tipped and mentioned this, I was informed by the salon manager that they didn't work with this brand of extensions. That information would have been incredibly helpful $1200 ago. Transformed and loving it! After moving to Knoxville from Miami only a couple of months ago, I was dreading trying to find a new salon. After hunting around on Yelp and checking IG, I finally decided to give Amanda Maddox Salon a try. I called on a Thursday, and the friendly and professional receptionist found an opening for me that very Saturday. The space is immaculate, inviting and appointed with all sorts of new equipment. The staff was just as friendly and service-oriented in person as the receptionist had been over the phone. The highlight of my visit was my experience with stylist Karla, and she is the real reason I will definitely be back! She is a skilled stylist and nailed my desired color and cut based off of a picture I showed her. Equally as important, Karla asked all the right questions during our consultation and the results proved that she was really listening. I've received a consultation from another salon and was told I need a correction after this terrible "balayage" I received at this salon. All I wanted was my money back so I could go to another salon to fix what this place gave me and I was told that their clients are their walking advertisement. So I went in for a second time and was left worse. Theres a huge gap where no color was added. Spots that don't have blending. Odd starting places of color, the color is orangey something I did not ask for. One of the other stylists came over to the girl working on my hair to talk about other clients. I also felt the unfriendly stares from some of the other girls all because I was unhappy with my hair and theres no justifying making someone uncomfortable because they didn't like your service. I also walked out of the salon with my hair drenched so that I wouldn't have to pay for it to be dried. This was like a punishment for not liking what had been done the 1st time. I waited for almost 3 years to have my natural hair colored. I am actually embarrassed at how bad my hair is currently and have to wait another month for a correction. I have been getting my hair done at Amanda Maddox salon for several years now. Maureen is my stylist and she is THE BEST! I always leave the salon feeling beautiful and fresh! She once spent a whole extra hour with me to get my color/balayage just right to make sure I was happy when I left the salon! (My hair doesn't always react to color like it should.) She also gave me some advice about a new hair tool I was trying out at home. She's honest about what she thinks would work for my hair texture, and is overall a super talented and knowledgeable stylist! I also recently had my nails done there by Lexie. Upon entry, I was greeted warmly by the receptionist and was given a full tour of the grounds and offered several times refreshments and snacks. I then received a full consultation with my scheduled stylist Melissa Alley and went through the entire process of what I was happy with about my hair and what changes I would like to see, which was wonderful! The end product was nothing short of perfection and throughout the whole process, she gave me tips and tricks on how to better manage my hair to achieve that perfect look.
