Amaro's has been our favorite place for a long time now. We were sooo excited one was coming to cowlitz county!! The food was excellent, service was absolutely perfect, and the dining room looks gorgeous! It's also so spacious in there. We both got the house salad, fried chicken with honey butter, mashed potatoes, and coleslaw. Literally ALWAYS a hit! So happy that we can come here way more often. PLEASE check them out! By far the best restaurant in our area. They also let us know that they not only have happy hour from 2-5pm but 9-10pm as well. And DO NOT skip dessert!!! All of their desserts are phenomenal but our favorite happens to be the ricotta donuts with caramel and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. read more

This place is FANTASTIC! I only wish this restaurant was in our town and that we didn't have to wait until one of our trips to Mt. Saint Helens to visit! The ambience is eclectic and colorful and the staff is wonderful! The food...oh the food...it's worth the drive just for the food alone! The drinks were expertly concocted and our waitress was attentive, professional and helpful (concerning both the menu and the area). We ordered the Crispy Pork Belly and the Salt and Pepper Calamari as our starters. The Crispy Pork Belly was absolutely delicious! It was sweet, savory and salty with the perfect offset of kimchi'd bokchoy. It was so good that I could have ordered more. The salt and pepper calamari was expertly battered and fried. These chefs know their "crunch". The batter was light and not overwhelming in the slightest yet perfectly crunchy. The "aioli" sauce had just the perfect blend of other seasonings to compliment the calamari. For our main meal, my husband ordered the Fried Chicken and I ordered the Halibut Picatta. First of all, the portion sizes are not light and the flavor? SPOT ON! My mouth and my tummy were deliriously happy! The fried chicken reads as "fried chicken breast" on the menu...which made me think it might be dry so I didn't order it. I am so glad my husband did though! It was tender and juicy with savory seasoning that made me think of the KFC seasoning back in the 70's (when it used to be good). The chicken appeared butterfly filleted and was accompanied by what tasted like wild clover honey for dipping. Fantastic choice! The chicken's "wing men" were mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese (which were just as addictive). The Halibut Piccata was beautifully done in traditional piccata style...except for one thing: the capers are ground into the sauce instead of the traditional way of letting them roll around all over the place like little out of control balls. The halibut was fresh (not something you expect from a restaurant in this area), light and sat atop a bed of sautéed, well seasoned zucchini. The whole dish was absolutely perfect. And next time, I'm getting the fried chicken...because after a few bites...I'm addicted! And, just as we were about to ask for the dessert menu, we were presented with a plate of donut holes with a side of caramel sauce (just for being first time customers). We had joked about seeing donuts on the menu, as we aren't donut connoisseurs nor do we normally even like them....but..... These weren't normal donut fare. Yes, they were rolled in light sugar but just one look and one whiff confirmed these weren't normal at all. They were fresh out of the oven. They had a satisfying slight outer crisp that revealed a soft center of doughy goodness inside. The caramel sauce wasn't made out of a jar from Safeway...and if it was, I want the chef's number because the whole thing was simply magic. I am a picky Karen and I know food. I also know excellent customer service when I experience it. These guys are getting a five star review and they deserve it. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear Amaro's Table listed next to the words "Welcome to Flavortown" anytime soon. We'll be back. read more

My spouse and I dined here at the recommendation of a friend and local restaurateur. The experience began well with the wonderful hostess that greeted us. Dialog was professional and courteous, but also light and friendly. I requested menu recommendations and was provided with sincere answers and quick beverages. Our server was a delight. Our hopes for service and warm-yet-professional interaction were exceeded. The manager stopped by the table to offer an introduction and further improved the already splendid experience. We ordered an Italian red, the Feudo Montoio nero d'avola, with a shared concession that we'd adjust the rest of our appetites to pair with the wine. Soon after the lovely bottle service, a neatly plated starter of ricotta, fig, and toast arrives. And we're off! The appetizer was delicious. We realized, as we paired it with the Sicilian wine, that the flavor was a bit too subtle. The manager noticed our chat and stopped by to check in, offering whatever we needed to further delight; which was wonderful. However, I was enthused to try everything as the chef suggested in this, my first trip. So, I resisted the temptation to triple-up on the balsamic vinegar as a buttress against the mighty vino. Having accepted our commitment to big flavors, the menu filet and season ribs were selected as tribute. For my part, the ribs were scrumptious. When I prepare them myself, I braise them until the meat and bones could at most be thought of as 'cuddling'. Then I glaze them in copious spiced glucose. Their generous portion of ribs were, texturally, better. Every bit as tender as my robust braising approach, but with just enough tension to barely stick to the bone. I do think there was room on the palate for additional seasoning in the glaze. While delicious, it had a chain-store-bought BBQ sauce aesthetic. Still, I loved them because I'm not crazy. Before I speak of my spouse's perfect filet and absurdly delicious potatoes, let us talk of mac & cheese. Dear lord their mac & cheese should be under FDA restrictions. The pasta was cooked to ever-so-slightly al dente perfection. That perfect texture with the cheese flavors was the belle of the ball. Everything was good! Don't get me wrong. But the mac & cheese was undefeated. Stay away if you have any history of addiction to awesome things. As alluded to, the filet was fantastic. We can prepare a mean filet at home, but I confess... theirs was better. The potatoes preparation is a perfect pairing. The green beans, for me, were the least impressive part of the meal. (We were trying each other's foods, as one does.) They were over salted and too soft. My other half enjoyed them as a compliment to the filet, but admitted they were the least impressive item. Which reminds me, the coleslaw was - in its way - a hero. It was the most precise, simple, boring coleslaw I've had in ages. Which was the perfect southern-side-salad complement to the otherwise interesting set of flavors. The servings are sized with a nod towards the traditional, local grills and eateries. We packed up most of the foods for take home. Pushing onto dessert with a dark and smooth decaf, the sparse remaining space in our stomachs squared off against the house favorite doughnuts and crème brûlée. Both were excellent. The latter was a textbook example of its kind. The former was interesting. And made more so by the coffee pairing. The integrated ricotta is apparent in the doughnut's texture, but I could only detect the flavor with the coffee pairing. (It's there, right at the end of the bite. Trust me.) They were proffered with caramel, which is not typically my preference. And I respect that pairing. But the three I took home I tried with every dessert condiment I had laying around. For me, the correct answer is not liquid, but a heavy dusting of Turkish spice blends. In closing, go here. It's expensive but you know where the money is going. And it's worth it. Take your date, partner, spouse, family, or team here to memorably connect. Take your time. Talk to the people who are helping you, listen to their advice, and tip them well. We had a very pleasant dinner tonight (Sunday evening) at Amaro's in Castle Rock. For our anniversary, we normally go to Olympia for dinner, but after seeing the review for Amaro's, we decided to give it a try. We were not sorry. We felt genuine care for our comfort and pleasure from the time we entered the restaurant. The restaurant was somewhat noisy, and the hostess asked if we'd like to sit in the lounge where it was more quiet. We chose the lounge and enjoyed the comfortable seating, relative quiet and the musical choices that were playing. Sergai was a very attentive server. Our meals were delicious and appropriately sized; we ordered desserts to take home. The costs were less than similar meals in Olympia, and we didn't have to drive the 2 hour round trip. I wish Yelp allowed half-stars. I think our experience was more accurately a 3.5 than it was a 4 - but I'll opt to give them the benefit of the doubt and go with the higher rating. We went in on a Saturday afternoon, about 12-1230, for lunch. The dining area was pretty barren. Not sure if we missed the rush, or if they just aren't staying busy. But the renovations they've done since having taken over the old Parker's restaurant are nice improvements! A much cleaner and more modern vibe. We liked that a lot. However, it was freezing inside, which made for an uncomfortable lunch. The server appeared quickly to take our order, which was great! But after bringing our drinks over shortly thereafter, the food took forever to show up. When it finally did, it was underwhelming in appearance (given their pricing). I felt like it looked like a sandwich you'd see at any Applebee's or Sizzler. Luckily, it tasted better than it looked. So, I can't beat them up too bad over appearance alone. It would have been appreciated to have seen our waiter more than twice during the meal. But overall, it was still a nice meal. I'm not convinced Castle Rock was the right location for this style of restaurant, with their menu options and prices. But, I wouldn't tell someone not to go. I'd just recommend taking a jacket and expect a wait to receive your food. read more

We chose this place at random needing something to eat after visiting the Mount St. Helen's visitors center and it was fantastic!! Great service and great food. We came in for a late lunch and landed during their happy hour. We ordered drinks and a few things off of their happy hour menu. We ordered Caesar salad, chicken fingers, Herb Chicken sandwich, and my husband ordered the rib eye. Everything tasted fresh and was well seasoned. We also had dessert - their ricotta donuts were delicious and so was their Key lime pie. I highly recommend this place and would come back if we are ever in the area. Every staff member was friendly as we engaged them in conversation (we just like to ask questions about the menu and ingredients and such when visiting someplace new). The place was clean and well decorated and has an upscale, casual vibe. We felt underdressed coming in, but they were very welcoming. Excellent food with attention to detail on flavor! I had a wonderful halibut dish with a light but perfectly enhanced sauce, garlic rice and zucchini that was all perfectly cooked and hot when it came to the table. So impressed with Valerie our server, professional and courteous who took time to explain the menu as a first time customer and reviewed the specials of the evening. Very attentive while allowing us time to enjoy each course and check in with us on our approval of the food. Offered a full explanation of wine choices to pair with our meal and desert was the perfect finish with their special ricotta donuts to dip into a chocolaty/caramel sauce. A must have! First night open here in Castle Rock. Beautiful remodel, reception hostess prompt and pleasant. Excellent menu choices, seriously something for every palate. The menu items are locally sourced when possible and the quality of the food reflects this. I felt the price's were on point and the portions generous. I enjoyed the pork chop with chutney as well as the house side salad which was a meal in itself. Our food came out quickly and was hot and delicious. Our server was pleasant knowledgeable and prompt our table never lacking or in need. I anticipated some hiccups due to opening night but instead was treated to top tier hospitality. Since they opened in Nov of 2024 we have patronized them many times. Thankfully, Longview area now has this excellent fine dining which we lacked for years. Food is delightful, they have a terrific menu. The fried chicken is amazing. Service is always kind and professional.
