Went in for a blowout and what a joke. The stylist was 20 minutes late, which didn't seem to bother anyone. She did not know how to do a blowout. There is a big difference between a wash and dry and a blowout. The receptionist can't be bothered to ask how everything went, so I just paid and left. Totally unprofessional employees. I have been going to Brooke for over 11 years now. She has done my color, highlights, cuts etc. and even did my hair for my wedding. She always listens to my requests and does a great job at satisfying them. She stays up-to-date and educated on all the newest styles, techniques and products. I've been seeing Brooke for over five years, which includes when I lived 2,000 miles away in Seattle, Washington, and now living in the city of Chicago. The primary reason I'm loyal to Brooke is because she is a fantastic and well-educated stylist. I have particularly long, thick, and coarse hair, and Brooke knows exactly what to do with it to avoid a head full of frizzy, out-of-control hair. I'm literally afraid to let anyone else cut it. Secondly, Brooke (and other stylists) reserve time at the outset of your appointment to consult with you in regards to your current likes, dislikes, and changes you'd like see made. This is important because it shows me Brooke is listening carefully and will address my concerns. I never walk out unhappy with my cut, likely for this reason. Finally, everyone I've ever encountered at the front desk is helpful and courteous. Most of the receptionists even remember my name, and always ensure my appointment is booked with enough time (especially because I come in from the city). It's also worth noting that the salon itself is clean, bright and well-decorated. I appreciate that they sell some of the best haircare products on the market, including Aveda, Redkin, and Pureology. Amato is an upscale salon that rivals any in the city of Chicago, and the prices are more than fair considering the quality of service. I highly recommend you give it a try if you're on the hunt for your "forever" stylist. read more

Awesome place from receptionist to stylist! If you're new, the front desk person takes the time to explain about the salon and stylists. Once placed with a stylist they take the time to ask you questions about your hair: likes, dislikes, styling, color etc. before they even touch your hair. They listen and they are happy to suggest or work with your desires. Could not be happier! This place is professional and customer service oriented. You will not be disappointed read more

I am extremely disappointed with the service here. I got my hair dyed on Dec. 28, 2018. My hair is barely below my shoulders. It took over 2 hours to have my hair dyed! I was then allowed to leave with dye all over the outline of my forehead and on both ears. To top it all off, I was charged an extra length fee (+$22). My hair is not long at all!! I questioned this in the survey they sent me and I specifically sent a message to them a month later via their online contact section after not getting a reply. I have still yet to hear anything back. I will never be going back here with this service! read more

I was determined to get my hair cut one Monday night and my normal salon closes by 5 so I was fortunate enough to get an appointment. I explained what I wanted to have done and she did a fabulous job on my cut. They have a $25 off coupon for new clients on their website and even though I couldn't print it, they still honored it. Couldn't have been nicer and I was very pleased-fast forward after I washed it and blowed it dry I realized it was noticeably shorter on one side than the other. I went in again and it was fixed. Then I wanted to have my color done and got someone else. My hair was carmelly brown when I went in and I explained that I wanted my hair slightly darker to eliminate my summer highlights. I got Kardashian blackish-it was so drastic and because there is so much strong lighting in the salon, I really didn't realize it until I got home and realized I looked goth! not really my look. I waited a few days to see if I could get used to it-I couldn't and went back in to have it re-done. She kept trying to get me to agree to highlights-I started to get irritate because I just wanted the color I originally came in for-not highlighted black hair. We re-did the color-it's still not what I wanted but is better than where we started but not the way you want to look after having your hair done. read more
