My girlfriend and the friend we made

This was a blast! Everyone here was so friendly, it made me feel like a part of the family. I found them on groupon originally, so I called to discuss details. They price matched me, which was good because if I wanted to cancel I could, whereas with groupon, I cant. Originally, I booked the 29th of November, which got canceled due to rain. The man who called was beyond friendly and helpful assisting in the reschedule. Our pilot was John, and he was full of fun facts. He flew us seamlessly and kept us entertained on board. He also told us how many basketballs fit in the balloon! John landed the balloon so smoothly! To be honest, I was expecting tip over going into the flight. We then participated in a post flight tradition, drinking champagne. Afterwards, we went to the petting zoo where my girlfriend and I made friends with a calf. The lady at the zoo also gave us chocolates! All in all, this was great and would love to go again! Oh yeah, the lady taking pictures was so attentive, I was amazed! Thank you all!

after we got ourselves out of the ditch when the balloon tipped us over. notice we landed before the sunset too.

My sweet boyfriend surprised me with my bucketlist activity of hot air balloon for the day of my birthday, it was a special experience but really could have gone a lot better if the company had a better set up and service. For the money we spent on our private experience, we did not get the experience we expected due to no fault of the weather or the balloon ride. Overall the hot air ballon ride was stunning and serene, the weather was beautiful and we were up in the air in our private balloon (yes, thank you boyfriend! for spending extra for the lovely private experience). but our guide Mike was strange from the beginning and really could have been better catered to us more as it is a special experience for us and not like him who " flies every day" like it's just another day at the job. Mike was a bit sarcastic and pointed from the beginning when he try to locate us from the 10+ group and about 5 cars away's distance over the sounds of fire blowing hot air and several balloons inflating. We saw that he was looking for us from the distance so we went over to check, he made comments already like "you guys don't seem so sure about what you are doing here" and proceeded to be short when he was telling us about when/how to get on the balloon (rushing safety instructions?) while all the chaos is happening with the simultaneous launch of 6 different balloons. it was an unnecessarily stressful start and we are just trying to have a special birthday evening doing something I have always wanted to do. I felt like we were pleasant and did nothing to have invited this sort of attitude right from the beginning, and it really dampen the experience for the rest of the ride as we were just trying to not cause any more irritation to Mike as he's the balloon pilot and my bf was a little nervous with the flight going up 2-3 thousand feet in the air. Prior to landing, Mike had said be prepared to brace ourselves as we touch ground, which is understandable as we were 3 people in a basket attached to a hot air balloon floating in the air (and not on a disneyland ride as he had bitterly said several times, which was definitely not about us). We landed well on the uneven hill next to a hiking trail in Poway and everything was fine until when Mike and another guy started to deflate and collect the balloon while we are still inside the basket. The balloon had already started to fall sideways in the air (with our basket still attached) and as we have no idea what happens next, we did what we were told and stayed in the basket against our better judgement that the balloon might drag and flip the basket over with us inside. We, again, tried to be respectful and asked Mike, who is now out of the basket trying to deflate the balloon, he said " no, don't get out of the basket" so we stayed in, and eventually was tipped over with the basket. The 2 of us fell forward and half way out of the basket into the ditch hitting his head on the flame blower, scraping his legs and me hitting my shoulders and landing in the scratchy sharp bushes covered in sticky plants and thorns. In retrospective, why would anyone think it was a good idea to stay in the basket when the balloon is pulling the basket forward on an sloped hill? In shock and checking on each other, we managed to climb out of the now upside down basket from the side of the hill and got ourselves to the back of the truck that's supposed to bring us back with the balloon. There we missed the sunset that was supposed to the special moment because we 1) landed the balloon before sunset 2) we were in the valley where you don't see the horizon 3) we were concerned with our surrounding. From this point on, we were told to sit by the truck with our little togo box of babybel cheese and a couple of those halloween Hershey chocolates with our champagne on the back of the truck while I was getting eaten alive by the mosquitos and trying to pick all the thorny plants off from my entire back side and hair. I went home with 8 itchy big bug bites all over my body and my boyfriend with bump in the head and bleeding shin. My sweet boyfriend had added a special bunch of roses and that was really nice, but Mike had left it in the front seat of the truck where he was and this birthday girl went home starving, sober with 8 big swollen bug bites and no roses that we had paid extra for :( We did tip Mike as we felt like he must've been angry with someone else before us, and he did do the work in flying the balloon safely. But overall my once-of-a-lifetime experience would have been truly enjoyable if the two of us had gotten a more pleasant thoughtful service and support throughout the evening. I don't know if riders from other balloons had a better experience but I assume they did, especially the balloons that were still in the air at sunset. For the money we paid for the private basket for 2, I really expected more thorough and quality of an experience other than just the balloon ride.

Fantastic. That sums it up. The whole crew did an amazing job after having to cancel the original trip in Del Mar, due to weather conditions. I was able to reschedule immediately to the morning after in Temecula. I can't imagine Del Mar being any better than the experience I had. Thank you again to the entire crew! A day my new fiancé and I will never forget!

Had an amazing Delmar evening flight with our crew (1 pilot and 2 staff) who were knowledgeable, friendly and on time. There were total of 10 people in the balloon and the crew made sure all were comfortable. Amazing experience and definitely recommend it.

Amazing! The service and skills shown was very impressive. This was such a great experience. I was scared at first but once we got up I felt completly safe. It was so quite and breath taking! I would recommend this for anyone. The team was so awesome! They made it fun and provided us with details of the area. It was really cool yo see other balloons go up at the same time as us. Made for some amazing photos. Great trip and awesome memories made for my friends 35th birthday!

These guys are the real deal and offered an incredible experience! Communication was great letting us know suggested clothing to wear prior to our adventure and also throughout the evening so we knew what to expect. We met off the 5 in Cardiff at 4:30pm on a hot, summer Sunday. After using the restroom (there isn't one available after this point), they drove us in comfortable vans to a couple of spots to check the wind- they take this part seriously with the precious cargo they had in tow (11 people split up between three vans). We went to two different locations and after deciding the launch area, they set up the balloons, while we were offered water, soda or Champagne. Three beautiful balloons were flying today and all the guys from the drivers, to the basket runners/catchers to the pilots worked very hard getting them ready. It was fascinating to watch. Soon we were called to climb on and then we were up and away, seamlessly, floating over Rancho Santa Fe and Del Mar. Amazing is an understatement! Pilot Ryan and Jacob were pros and navigated the balloon with ease. We floated with the clouds for over an hour and of course, it went by way too quickly but, it was really worth it. Nate and Nathanael were there at landing to catch our basket and Ryan explained the history of ballooning over a champagne toast when the sun was setting. Although this was on my bucket list for over two decades and I feel extremely grateful for the opportunity, I think a sunrise ride in Temecula may be in order to compare the am vs pm experiences. Time will tell. Thanks so much, team Compass for making my birthday so fun and memorable!

We got there and checked in and the other party also got settled before scheduled time at 5:30am. But it was delayed because they couldn't find the other ballon truck. We then drove to a field and waited but it wasn't a spot to launch. We then had to drive to another spot. By the time we were up in the air, it was already 6:30 after the sunrise. The main point of this ride is to see sunrise. I was very disappointed. We got up at 3am to drive there and we didn't even get to see sunrise up high. We were up in the air for about an hour. It was nice to see a little bit of golden sun and it was pretty seeing the city up high. However, that wasn't the attraction for me to stay up there for an hour. I wanted to see sunrise. This ride turned out to be not as expected. The owner (i think) Dylan was nice though. We got a glass of mimosa after the ride.

Pilot Denni (the owner of the company with almost 40 years of pilot experience) was great and landed in the same place we took off, which is likened to a hole in one in golf. The whole experience was less than 3hrs. The ride itself lasted about an hour. We were transported to and from the launch and landing sites. They took some pictures for us and provided a balloon ride certificate at the end with discounts for local wineries and businesses. Mimosas and a bag of snacks were provided at the end. It was actually a lot more calm and peaceful than I thought it would be! Even my friend, who's afraid of heights, did it! Sure, she was pretty scared at first and stayed close to the center of the basket, avoiding to look out and down, but she started feeling more comfortable the longer we were in the sky. We booked on their website and used the promo code "Groupon" for a discounted price of about $180 per person. The meeting point was in the parking lot of a shopping center in Temecula at 5:30am. There, they went over some rules, info about hot air ballooning and there was a photographer/videographer, Wesly Cajuste, selling packages for stills and a video. He has a drone that follows the balloon. My friends and I decided to go for it since it was our first time and it was a special occasion (friend's birthday). We were very happy with the way the video and the photos came out. Then, a couple shuttle vans took us to where they were setting up the hot air balloons, which varies depending on the wind. Before getting in the basket, we got to go in the balloon while they were inflating it. It was chilly in the morning, but it gets pretty warm being under the propane tank, so hats and layers are suggested. We were 4 groups of 4 and were assigned to a huge balloon with 4 separate compartments we were snug in. The knowledgeable and experienced pilot, Brian, was in the middle. I read that the baskets have doors but we had to climb in ours. The ride was about an hour long and we had a spectacular view of Temecula valley. I was a little nervous about the landing, but Brian is clearly a pro and did a magnificent job with a smooth landing on an open field. No mimosas in the air since there are no restrooms, but they busted out the Crooks when we got out! The website said breakfast, but they actually just give out ziplocked bags of snacks. Lol! Totally not necessary. The balloon ride was the ultimate highlight! They also give a certificate, which includes a list of wineries you can get discounts at for having done the hot air experience.
