My lesson was taught by Téa (sp?) and she was a great, patient teacher. I did the Ironman session which I think was 30 minutes in the water. The equipment worked very well and with the relatively long lesson I got comfortable enough with it to learn a trick or two - dolphin dives and stuff. I always felt safe during the lesson, and Téa gauged my comfort level and encouraged me to try different tricks that I didn't initially feel comfortable with and made the lesson SO much more fun as a result. This review is for the overall experience, We walked in the place and mark, the trainer, was already waiting. Welcomes us and directly ask, " you ready?" We were like, hell yeah. Thinking there's a video training session, he just ask if we've seen the videos on YouTube. I replied," of course!" And that's it with training videos... Hahaha, we walked to the spot and instructed two things, technically got our wet suits and gear and few pointers while in the water. Easy instructions. Overall, mark was patient and always positive. My 16-year old son was googling jetpacking places in San Diego when he came across Aquatic Aviation. We made him choose something less expensive on their site so he requested flyboarding instead. His twin brother wanted in on it too. Mark and Hannah were extremely helpful over the phone, price matching a Groupon offer and adding extra time for one of our sons. Online waivers were convenient and easy to submit. Their brand new office where they showed a brief instructional video was easy to find (red brick building 2nd floor) and just down the street from the H&M launching pad. Hannah was super patient with explaining and teaching our sons how to flyboard for their first time...assuming superman position to get out into more open waters, balancing using toe/heel movement (snowboarding skills came in handy), and simple spin tricks. One son's longest flight lasted about 40 seconds before plunging him into the water, the other one stayed up for almost 8 minutes a couple of times. My husband and I were able to follow them down to the other end of the dock to record. This was an unforgettable experience for our sons! read more

Wife got my best friend and I a private lesson and it was an amazing experience thanks to Mark, our awesome instructor! He was super patient with us and taught us well. My best friend chose the flyboard, the recommended starting gear, and was very successful with it. I was stubborn and chose the jetpack even though it is NOT recommended and it was very difficult to be able to balance with it but due to Mark's extreme patience, was able to fly by the end of our private lesson. Amazing instructors made for an amazing time! Full disclosure -- my boyfriend and I were in a fight before getting to our lesson. We were late and overall not in the best of spirits. The guides were happy to get us back on track time wise (they didn't have anyone after us) and we headed out the water. I have never been super coordinated with board sports and our instructor did an amazing job teaching me how to flyyyy! He had such a good attitude, smiled the whole time and kept me confident that I would learn how to get up there and then stay up there. My boyfriend had the best time ever (this was part of his birthday gift) and needless to say we weren't in an argument far before we left (lol). We came here with a Groupon for a 1 hour hoverboard/flyboard session that I bought my boyfriend for his birthday. No complaints! The staff was super friendly, even when our GPS took us a block away, someone came out from the office and waved us down when we were close. That was a lifesaver! We had Mark as the instructor, and he was awesome. Very informative, and he even let us switch from the hoverboard to the flyboard last minute. We thought that the 1 hour would be short, but even including the class, by the end of the session, he was super worn out. It's a lot of work for your legs and feet, so be prepared for that! If I were just reviewing the instruction and the overall experience, it would be three stars because my brother-in-law (to whom we gifted this via Groupon for his birthday), was injured. We felt the instruction was somewhat rushed. However, my two star rating is more for their business policy. We had gifted my brother-in-law the 4 person package, however, two members from our party were unable to make it because approximately two hours before our appointment time, we received a call from the nursing home where my husband's grandmother was that she was in "decline" and we should go say our goodbyes and be with her. Therefore, my husband and myself (the other two party members), were unable to participate in our booking. My brother-in-law explained the unforeseen circumstance to the staff at Aquatic Aviation and they were unwilling to work with him in either offering more time, or putting the cost of the two missing people toward ANYTHING else. I find it completely calloused that this company refused to work with us with something as unpredictable as the decline of an elderly grandparent. Incidentally, my husband's grandmother passed away an hour and a half ago, and it was good that we spent her last moments with her. I really expected more compassion when trying to explain our situation as to why two members of our party couldn't attend. read more

When I got to the docks with the instructor I was pleasantly surprised when I bumped into an old lady in her late 50s, coming out of the water and radiating happiness from all over her face, saying what an amazing experience it was for her. At that moment all my fears went away and knew it was going to be great. Indeed it was such a fun and great experience! It looks scarier and tougher than what it really is. The staff is super friendly and helpful, they really walk you through the whole thing by the hand. We took my girlfriend's daughter to Aquatic Aviation as a present for 16th birthday. We were ready to see her go flyboarding when she noticed that Aquatic Aviation also offered hoverboarding. My sister likes to find birthday presents that are simultaneously fun and hilarious, so she gave my roommate and me our first lessons at Aquatic Aviation. We weren't quite sure what to expect, but took their recommendation on starting with flyboarding when we called in to schedule. We arrived half an hour early as instructed to park and check in at the office, watched a short orientation video, and followed our instructor to their dock where we geared up. Each flyboard operates with a jetski, so we went one at a time and were able to watch and video each other. Our instructor Shane was amazingly patient and gave us helpful tips through the two way communications helmet while looking out for our safety with fall height, power level, and distance from hard objects. I'm pretty klutzy but was still able to fly by the end of my lesson. It was pretty fun floating in the air and looking around from a new perspective! My roommate was much better and started practicing little spin tricks almost right away. We had a great time and are already planning to bring some friends next time! read more

I'm poor and I would do this again in a heart beat. They teach you how to do fly in like two seconds. My brother and I had Paul and Andrew to instruct us. They were both really cool and enthusiastic about us getting the hang of it. Watching videos of it beforehand is really useful. They said a 70yo recently tried it and was able to get it down quickly. When we got to the dock before our reservation there was a 12yo gliding across the water so I think it's doable for most people. The water/weather was COLD since we went at 6pm when it is pretty breezy. In addition, you're dunking in and out of the ocean so our bodies were pretty much hypothermic and we were still completely stoked! Flyboarding is an amazing experience. Bucket list. read more
