They intentionally invest in the kids' character too. At the end of each class they do a short character lesson on things like humility, obedience, and other life lessons. As a parent, I really appreciate that they're helping build both confidence and character. Within just a couple of weeks, I noticed a huge difference in my son. He used to be nervous about things like the monkey bars, and now he's climbing, hanging, and excited to try new obstacles. It's been really fun to watch that confidence carry over into everyday life outside of class. My daughter also did a trial of the Sidekicks class for 2-3 year olds, and she absolutely loved it. It was the perfect mix of movement, exploration, and play for her age. Both of my kids have tried gymnastics, and while they enjoyed it, this has been a completely different experience. The classes change every week, so they're never doing the exact same thing twice. The obstacle layouts are always different, which keeps the kids engaged and excited to come back. Between the monkey bars, running walls, balance obstacles, rope swings, and everything in between, there's always a new challenge. Another thing I really like is that the kids are evaluated on their skills and can continue progressing through different levels. It gives them something to work toward while still making it all about having fun. Last thing, they have huge windows for the parents viewing area and they have a play section for the siblings. Our 3 year old daughter has fun with magnifies and blocks while her older brother is in class. We took the plunge and signed up for the full year this year and it was the best decision I made this year in regards to activities and schools. They do now offer 1/2 year options, which we would have signed up for last year had it been an option. Our teacher is excellent! She really connects with all of the kids and has a calm gentle demeanor when explaining various things we see out in nature. The locations and duration are both perfect! We go to places we have been to before from time to time but always see new things. The class size is perfect for the families to really get to know each other. I really like the community piece of it, everyone seemed welcoming and it didn't feel like we were outsiders joining an already established community at all. The detailed emails Pam sends out every week offer attire suggestions, which I love! While this is the activity I look forward to every week, we still have transition issues and we are regularly a few minutes late and I have never heard anything negative from our teacher about it, which I really appreciate. Being a mom is hard enough, having a community that is welcoming and supportive makes all the difference.

Obviously, I was not there all day, but it seemed like the instructors just threw buckets of Legos in front of the kids and let them go at it. Despite doing both the morning and afternoon themed camps, my son couldn't tell me anything that he made that day. (which was in contrast from the details I got from him doing other camps such as Galileo, as well as another Lego based camp through the city of Sunnyvale earlier that summer) The camp counselors had zero amount of energy or enthusiasm, not even bothering to fake it during drop off times . There were often children crying during pick up or drop off that were completely ignored. I felt so bad for those kids . I had not seen such disinterested teen counselors at any of the other camps we did the last few years. The last straw came when one day my husband picked up my son early and two girls were wheeling my son in a cart with no base that were used to transport the bins . It was literally a medical disaster waiting to happen. As soon as my husband made his presence known the camp counselors looked at the girls and muttered "oh uh guys um how'd you get the carts? " This camp was not only boring, poorly staffed, but also was just unsafe. If your child is not 100% independent, this is a horrible camp to choose.
