She was able to do the camp without me being by her side, which is something I worried from my past experience on her zoom meetings. She occasionally asked for help finding her materials which took a couple mins out of my time. She enjoyed it so much we decided to sign her up for the second week, Explore Hawaii. For this camp she did need help yesterday, building her volcano, and today, making the volcano explode. The teacher emailed us before hand to let us know they would need our help for about 15-20 mins with the time. It was fun to see her reaction during the explosion of the volcano. We all enjoyed it. I highly recommend Camp Captivate. The teachers are super engaging, lots of arts and crafts to keep them busy and the content is age appropriate. We inquired directly with CD for our date and time and she guided us thru the booking process. There was a last minute mixup but CD made every effort to offer us a successfull party....and CD definitely delivered. On the day of our party, we arrived early to a wonderful birthday party setup in the outdoor back patio, decorated nook and and an intimate upstairs studio for our party guests. To be honest, the setup she provided was exactly how we prefer. We booked the "It's Elemental" and "Animal Adaptations" camps for our twin boys and "Castles and Catapults" and "Explore Hawaii" camps for our daughter in February. They were thrilled about the summer camps, and we glad to see how much they were looking for to them. Then, the COVID-19 pandemic took over everyone's lives. Like many parents in the Bay Area, my wife and I had to juggle not only watching but teaching our children as well as juggle work. My wife and I are both healthcare workers albeit working in different hospitals and different fields (radiology versus nursing). We hoped that things would go back to normal, but that was quickly dashed away when the school was closed down for the remainder of the school year and the lockdown was extended. We knew that they'd need the summer camps more than ever. Unfortunately, Camp Captivate had to cancel their physical camps. The owner of Camp Captivate, Ildiko Stennis, helped me with the refund. We received gift cards that we could use for future camps because we hadn't notified them that we wanted to be reimbursed. I spoke with Mrs. Stennis about our situation, and she was very understanding. She removed the funds from the gift cards and did a full refund to my credit card. She was empathetic and friendly, and I really appreciated her help. I know for sure that my wife and I will be signing up our children for Camp Captivate when things go back to normal.

Took two classes here and had very different experiences…read more The first class I went to was a resin workshop with Punky Power Productions and it was fun, engaging, and interactive. The instructor was very fun and really willing to help out and inspire. 5 stars. The second workshop i took, just this Sunday, was not great at all. It was a mosaic class and it might as well have been self led. The instructor gave us a brief 3-5 min tutorial on how to place the tiles and then did nothing else except sorted tiles the whole time. She never came around to see how we were doing or if we needed help. We had to keep asking her to come over if we had a question and she didn't really offer too much. She never told us what color we could use, and kept coming over and collecting the extra tiles as we were working. She didn't help us finish up and left before we were done. It was super disappointing.

Even now, with our children in their teens, we go - although now we rent extra cabins and have them bring friends, since friends are where all the action is when you're a teenager. We spend most of our time playing in the river! My kids like to float down on inner tubes. The river is shallow so we do hit some rocks and have lost some tubes but the smiles are totally worth it! Each day is packed with optional activities from gold panning, fishing and camp fire! (Kids favorite camp song hi my name is Joe! And of course there are smores!) Ryan and Michael (aka Parker) remain my kids favorite Counselors so glad they were there again! This year we got to meet Ryan's family and hope his brother will Be a counselor next year! Such nice people!!! That is what is great about camp Everyone is so relaxed and friendly! The accommodations are a wooden structure with a tarp (bring something to hang over the openings as they don't close all the way) and cots. The bathrooms are camp bathrooms- don't expect to much from them! The food is decent for camp food! This year they improved service by having two lines! Woot woot! My only complaint would be the bees - they are everywhere. We saw two kids get stung. Jenna is doing a fantastic job and works her tail off! We love love the animal ambassador show! Each year we have learned so much! Added July- 2018! Just got back from camp! Another great year! My kids are already planning what we need to bring for next year! Even the smoke from the Fereguson didn't slow us down! We hiked to Cascade which was a hike but beautiful water falls! We also hiked to nearby Rainbow pools- two of my kids jumped from the big rock!
