Lousy venue and UNBELIEVABLY rude staff. I went with a few friends one night, and they wouldn't accept my U.S. passport card as acceptable i.d. (which it is). They told me "we've never seen this type of i.d. so we can't take it". NOTE: I have gotten into bars and bought alcohol with a U.S. passport card. My male friend, who was waiting inside, came by and asked what the problem was like a normal nice friend would, and the bouncer was SO RUDE to him, saying, "Hey man, this isn't your problem, stay out of it." Aside from the obnoxious staff, the place is very dirty with a sticky floor. If you want to have the worst bar experience of your life, I suggest Amber Inn. read more

Been around from the 70's, because I was there- but I bet it was there in the 50's or 60's. The bar stools are the same. Classic dive bar where everyone knows everyone during the week. Can't believe it's still there! These places are few and far between, I remember crazy funny times there. read more

If you are in Doylestown and want to go to an unpretentious bar this is your only choice. Been to the bar many times. It's a classic. If you don't smoke and don't like to be around people who do go somewhere else. There are plenty of other places to go. Every time I've been there the people were friendly and never had a problem. I just got home exhausted from laughing and enjoying a couple Cold tastes with a group of regular folks telling unique, one-of-a-kind stories. The colorful stories were weaved by an all star cast, hosted by Vinnie, with guest stars including Yosemite Sam, Bouncing Bob, Zoot Suit Ryan, the M&M's, GVS George, Dan thee Music Man Faulkenstein, Buster Posey and Dino Mike. This bar has not changed in the last 25 years. Mostly biker-type regulars from Q-town or Souderton and a few D-town long-timers. Nice people in a dark and smoky bar (Hooray - you actually still smoke here). Cheap drinks and easy access to the rest of town. Not my thing - but OK in a pinch. Nothing bas changed here in 30 years, decor is 1970s, carpet on walls, wood paneling, of course heavily smoke covered. Clientele is " conspiracy loving, " non educated , but hard working blue collar. Upstairs is updated, and atmosphere is less " rough". Good place 2 go if you dont have any clean shirts. read more

The Amber is a dark, dingy bar with ugly wood paneling and dirty carpet on the walls (yes, carpet on the walls). The older patrons are each missing a few teeth and wearing Harley Davidson T-shirts. And the younger patrons wear heavy metal band T-shirts. And everyone looks like they could (and would, if given the chance) kick your ass. But Doylestown's dive bar has a special place in my heart. A friend of mine has rented an apartment down the street from The Amber for the last few years. And after we play poker at his place (usually one Friday every other month), we walk down to The Amber, and buy some cheap drinks and shoot some pool. We like The Amber because... well, as rough-and-tumble as everyone looks, the other patrons are generally pretty cool people. The Amber is a laid-back bar where you can feel comfortable in jeans and a T-shirt. And you don't have to deal with the stupid kids from DelVal. read more

This review is just for the downstairs bar (for newbies the Amber has a smaller lounge, more "upscale" on the second floor). The Amber Inn is a smokey, dirty, windowless, basement, pit of a dive bar and I love it. Ask most locals who are sober and look respectable and the mention of the "Amber Inn" will result in looks of horror and disgust. It has taken decades to build that reputation and that's awesome. Weeknights are townie nights, with crusty locals getting tooted up, and the occasional just 21 stragglers who don't know the ways of the Amber (aka Slamber). There is a kitchen, but lets be real, no one is there for the food. Weekends are a little bit of a different story, the bar can be packed, bad karaoke can be heard, and the crowd is generally a younger group - maybe 22 - 40. Love the Amber. read more

If you want a hometown bar where everyone knows your name, this is your place. I'm 22 and went here with my mom a few times and used to go as a child for sodas with cherries from the great bartender Suzy. The people there are nice and like a good selection of southern rock and blues. If you'er not from the area it may seem scary to first but after a nice beer and a few wings you'll soon realize it's a great place and a landmark bar in Doylestown. read more

This place is pretty cool. Laid back, a bit of a dive, but sometimes that's what we're looking for.....watched a Phillies game here, and the bartender spent most of the night playing Wii on a different TV, occasionally glancing over to see if we needed refills. Good mid-week hang. read more

Food is so so at best but you pay for top notch grub , dark and dingy basement bar, very smokey when I was there.. Definitely won't go again.. O and on my way out after asking where I was going some drunk female ask if i could give her a ride home . I told the bartender and she found someone to take her home.. Petty sure she would have puked in my car. read more

Great little spot in Doylestown, drinks are reasonably priced and the food is good. The staff is very nice and welcoming and very laid back. The only negative really is they could use a little more parking. Would definitely recommend! read more

Yeah,it's your typical dive bar. you can smoke(a plus...I'm a smoker),play pool and they have a pretty good selection of beer on tap(well,when I was there anyway!). I love a good dive bar and this isn't the worst one i have been to! the people were friendly and service was great. I would definitely go back again! read more

The atmosphere is friendly. Bartenders are on the ball. Hostess' very sociable. Drinks just right. Food is "bar food", but everything is tasty and soups are hot.. Recommended when your in Doylestown and want a quick, friendly stopover for lunch or evening banter. read more
