I have to update my previous review, because just when I thought I couldn't like this salon more, I do! I went back to see Alisa to get more red in my hair and so that she could put some layers in. I am extremely happy with the finished product. But, more importantly, I also had the chance to try out their spa! I got a French mani for a wedding I was going to, and Angel was very nice and very anal about the tips on my nails. She kept taking the polish off and redoing it until it was perfect. I was happy about that, because if I'm going to pay good money to get my nails done, they'd better look better than what I could do at home! She also gave me a 10% off coupon for a facial or pedicure for the next time I visit the salon. I'll have to make an appointment to see her and Alisa again in a couple months! read more

I have been coming to Ambiance Salon and Spa for years and Imelda always makes me look young and beautiful. I always get tons of compliments after Imelda does my hair and long after she's done my hair. Recently, she was booked up so I had Vanessa cut and style me and again, I came out looking FABULOUS! She did an outstanding job on my hair, and it's not easy because my hair is very gragile, and she still managed to make me gorgeous. I also brought my son along and he had a cut and style and was so handsome with his new "do". My only unhappy part is that I can't go to Ambiance every day. I would never go elsewhere. Couples Massage: I should have posted a review years ago. My wife and I have been getting couples massages for at least five years. Every massage we have ever had at ambiance has been wonderful. The room for the couples massage is on the third floor. It is a comforting and inviting. Over the years we have had different masseuses and they have all been fantastic. For the last two years we have had Geri and Kim. Outstanding, outstanding, outstanding. Geri and Kim are so nice and we are treated like we are part of the family. My wife always gets Geri. My wife can handle a deeper massage and Geri always gives her a perfect massage. My wife always comes away feeling relaxed and renewed. Kim has been my masseuse. She quickly figured out the type of massage that I like. I am always amazed at how relaxed I am after the massage. It is a perfect way to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or just a Saturday afternoon date. read more

We booked a spa Day for myself and my boyfriends mom and sister. We all got the Body & Soul package and received a massage, manicure and pedicure. Kim did my massage and it was AWESOME. I was a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding this past weekend and all the bridesmaids got their hair and make up done at Ambiance. This has been the mother of the bride's salon for years and I can see why. The salon and clean and welcoming. No pretention, but you can tell that there is a lot of time and money put into the salon. There is water, tea and coffee for the taking and it just has a nice, almost homey, feeling. Elysa/Alesa (olive skin, dark eyes/hair) did my make up and while I don't normally wear any sort of foundation or powder on my face, it didn't feel cakey to me like it has when I've gotten my make up done at other places. The make up looked natural and absolutely beautiful on all the girls. She asked me what I normally wore and didn't do anything over the top -- each time she wanted to add something else to my face that she was unsure of, she asked me first. I trusted her to do a great job and she definitely delivered. Donna did all the girls' hair and she did an absolutely fantastic job. I cannot tell you enough how much I LOVED my hair. I was the last to go and basically gave her free reign to do whatever she wanted, so long as my bangs were swept to the side and the rest was pulled back. She was quick and effificient and it stayed put most of the night (though that may have been the can of hairspray in my hair...). I absolutely recommend this salon to anyone in the area. Donna did an updo for me for my wedding in December. I LOVED it. Donna listened to exactly what I wanted, and even better, made lots of suggestions to make sure it was perfect. Here are all the reasons why Donna is amazing for an up do: 1. She explains all of the steps of the process as she does your hair. This includes the products she is using and what their purpose is . 2. She is alllll business. She is friendly, but not like other experiences I've had where I feel like the conversation distracts from the focus on the hair. 3. She is just as excited about loving the style as you are. Not only does she want the customer happy, she wants to make sure her work is perfect. There's something great about someone who takes such pride in their job. 4. She makes sure it is extra secure. I've had several up dos that have fallen out or frizzed quickly. After a day or running around and dancing at the reception, that bad boy didn't move at all. 5. She priced me perfectly at my trial up do which I really appreciated. I can't say enough good things. I was very disappointed in my hair, the color, the cut and when I got home I realized I have an orange spot on my root. People seem nice enough, not overly friendly, but not snotty. I just wasn't pleased at all with my hair and wouldn't want to go back. I just had the most amazing prenatal massage with Jerry (Geri? Am not sure of spelling). I am 38 weeks pregnant and she has me feeling better than I have in literally months. I've had friends complain about prenatal massages they've had at other places/with other people - that the masseuse was not willing to really get "in there" or that it was like being petted more than massaged for the masseuse's hesitation. Not Jerry! She was amazing. She gave a good, strong, deep, and confident massage while still being mindful of a few delicate areas. In the few minutes we spends chatting I could tell she was a positive, warm soul. I would highly recommend her for a massage of any type, but especially for a true prenatal message. read more

I was the maid of honor in my sister's wedding. My sister called me to tell me that this salon had a great package and I was really excited that there were 14 of us going to all get manis and pedis the day before the wedding and we could bring drinks with us. It sounded fantastic. However when we arrived someone had forgotten to put our booking in the calendar and so they were extremely understaffed. They did the best they could with the staff that they had, but they didn't give us a full pedicure they basically just painted our nails. Which also would have been fine until it came time to pay. We brought them 14 girls worth of business and they weren't able to give us any sort of deal. So they didn't give us full pedicures but charged us for the whole thing and then "included the tip" because there were so many of us but instead of having us tip $5 per person they had us tip $5 per service so we eached were required to tip an additional $10 on top of paying for a full mani and pedi. It was ridiculous and I was furious that they rushed us through the whole process and then when they were finished had an attitude about it. They should have been apologizing up and down for having screwed up in the first place. I will not be bring my business back to this place, and I will also be letting all my friends know how poor the service was! read more

I had my hair dyed platinum blonde and was very pleased with the results. I had a mixture of highlights and 9 months of roots so it was not the easiest task to get it all one color, but I thought the stylist did a great job. The girl sitting next to me came in with blonde and purple hair that turned green when it was bleached. But her stylist was able to get it all back to a nice blonde color. The prices were reasonable for a good salon. I would recommend it. read more

I would give "negative stars" if I could. Lack of professionalism, and care about the customer doesn't look to be part of their practice. I was assisted by Donna who suggested me to have a different service than the one I had in mind (costing twice as much) It did not work at all, and she blamed it on my type of hair! She saw it natural the first time! I went to talk to the owner, who pretended she didn't even see me waiting for half an hour in the front desk right on her face, she was on the phone, and when I requested my money back, since Donna finally said she wouldn't re-apply the product in my hair (which at first she said to wait for 2 days, than 2 weeks, 2 more weeks), she refused do to anything. I didn't even know she was the owner, I asked to speak to the manager she didn't say anything, I asked to speak to the owner, she didn't say anything.I was charged US$295 for a "service" that didn't work, besides the US$30.00 tip to Donna. She also refused to give me their license number. The worst experience! I highly do not recommend this place. read more

I went for the first time for a Brazilian wax. After talking to the front desk telling them I have never been there but I have had them before. After explaining that it has been about 2 mos since my last one due to an operation the person told me had to "prepare" to be waxed and not to shave. I got there early and still waited close to 20 mins for the girl Donna to show up. After talking for less then 5 mins she informs me since she has never waxed me before she may not be able to do a Brazilian..SO IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN THERE BEFORE DONT GO THINKING YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU WANT. I was super dissatisfied with my service. I came in asking for a beautiful blonde balayage and was talking to my stylist and as the bleach was processing in my hair she told me that she's one of the only women in this Salon that do Balayage because of the fact that they don't get trained in balayage. While my bleach was processing she began to tell me that she just looks up techniques on YouTube and tries them out on her clients and it usually works out. I have naturally curly hair and usually never curl or wear product in my hair but she insisted to put five different products into my hair so that I wouldn't notice it didn't look like how I asked it to. I knew I was screwed when she told me that she learned to do Balayage off of YouTube and her reason was because training was too expensive but I believe that you pay for what you get and damn did I pay for what I got. I frequently go there on Fridays for my hair and makeup. I was going to put a great review about the staff. I looked through the previous reviews and I caught attention to Christine B. OMG!!! I was actually in the lobby when the bridal party walked in for their nail party several months ago. As I sat trying not to listen but clearly sounded to me that the bride that was supposed to set up the appts and failed to call back with the credit card to secure the date and didn't follow thru with names and services they needed. As the staff was trying to decide what to do...I was in shocked to also hear that a couple bridesmaids also complaining near me in the lobby about the bride herself that it was most likely that the messed up the their appts due to the bride's previous mistakes. I felt so bad for the staff because they were put under a lot of pressure to try to make this work even though there was no appt. and ontop of that they were about to leave for the day. That's why I love going there because they always seemed to accommodate even under the worst cases. I've witnessed countless parties there while I was getting my hair done. They definitely know what their doing. Oh well, sometimes you get a person that doesn't pay attention to their own details for their wedding and Ambiance went down for the blame. I'm so glad I saw her review. I still will refer all my friends there and they are thoroughly pleased!!! I love all their work on Facebook that's how my friend's felt good about going there. I booked my bridal party at Ambiance last week. I had 6 girls, myself, flower girl and my mom all getting their hair and make up done. I will say that the stylists did a fantastic job, everyone looked fantastic. The first problem that we had with them is that I told the receptionists and stylists that I wanted myself, my mom and my maid of honor to be done first so that we could head back to the house first to meet the photographer. They kept taking other bridesmaids to do hair and make up and my maid of honor was one the last ones done because a specific stylists wanted to do her hair. The second major problems came when the it was time to pay the bill. I told them that we would all be on one bill, but the mother of the flower girl paid for her hair and tipped the stylist. Well when I went to pay, I also paid for the flower girls hair because they didn't inform me of this. They also did not inform me about their 20% tipping policy with larger policies. I do not have a problem with the policy, but the receptionists should be aware of this policy. Instead, my girls said they would take care of the tips so they went and starter to give tips to their stylists but when we were about to leave someone came up and said that wasn't the policy and we couldn't do tips that way. We had already given all the stylists their tips and the receptionists had told us to do this. Like I said everyone looked great but they were so disorganized on the business end, it just added unnecessary stress to my day. read more

i went for a cut after having a great experience getting a facial and mani/pedi. i dislike my haircut a great deal. honestly its the worst i've ever had. i showed a photo of what kind of cut i was going for to the stylist and she looked at it for about a second and then she proceeded to give me a haircut that was nothing like the photo. i told her that i wanted a really low maintenance hairstyle (wash and go), and was trying to grow out my bangs, but she proceeded to give me a cut with really short layers that need to be blown dry and styled carefully which i can't stand doing! and now i not only am growing out my bangs but i now have to grow out these awful layers. i can barely fit it into a pony tail, which is now what i have to do every day to feel normal. i'm so bummed. wanted to like this place but unfortunately have to give it a major thumbs down in the hair department. i'll go back to Juju in the city and pay twice as much, but at least they will listen to the me and give me the cut i asked for. read more
