Yesterday I had to google Ambiance Salon to check on their hours when I noticed the negative review from Andrea C... so I made a mental note to write a review today and set the record straight for those who may be considering a visit to Ambiance Salon... They. Are. Wonderful !! They moved in 2012 to a new location in Latham Farms, next to Allstar Wine & Spirits (how convenient!), which is more modern & up-to-date then their last location -- which was still nicer than many salons I have been to before. Every time I am there all of the clients are being taken care of by the stylists who are so friendly and make your visit comfortable. Every client leaves the salon with a huge smile on their face and looking like a million bucks. The front desk is always a pleasure to see each time I go and are always professional. I am guessing Andrea C. never checked the pricing of Ambiance's services, which are clearly indicated on their website. But keep in mind future brides, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! When I got married in May my hair, my mom's, and bridesmaids' were all impeccably done. Booked appointments for two people on a Saturday 12:30. Explained to the person taking the appointment that we were coming into town from out of state attending a wedding for a member of the immediate family and were looking for blowouts and formal styling. They called the night before to push the time back by two hours with no apology or explanation, no offer tonoht us with a different stylist- nothing. The late time was not viable for us due to the time lf the wedding which we would have been late to. My return calls that night and the following morning went directlh to voice mail. When I did finally speak to someone she didn't apologize or seem to care at all that I was now having to scramble to find availability within just a couple of hours- same day and for two people. Completely unprofessional. Would not recommend relying on this salon. Zero stars. read more

My family has gone to Ambiance for years now following the wonderful and talented stylist Amy N. We have also had massages with Kristin who is a delight and makes us feeling relaxed and rejuvenated after every session. In addition, my sister had a large bridal party come to Ambiance for their hair. Everyone was very pleased with their hairand the Salon truly rolled out the red carpet. This definitley started her wedding day right. With all that said, I 100% recommend anyone to go to Ambiance and see Amy N. or any other stylist . 5 Stars!!!!!! read more

This place is great if you want your makeup to look like a drag-queen and your hairstyle to fall out of place after 2 hours. But don't worry, if you have any complaints the stylist will let you know about the hard time you're giving them and tell you how difficult you're being. The stylist my fiance had the pleasure of dealing with couldn't be more unprofessional. I didn't hear exactly what was said during their telephone conversation, but I do know that my fiance couldn't get in more than a couple of words before the stylist interjected time after time. She went there for a trial for her wedding hair and makeup, and although she was satisfied with the hairstyle the stylist did at the time, it fell out of place after about 2 hours of driving (she wasn't even walking around/dancing, you know... stuff you do at a wedding). My fiance wasn't really happy with the makeup at all, either, but I don't think she was even able to voice her displeasure with the stylist about it in fear of being told how out of line she was about that, too. Planning a wedding is stressful. It's even more stressful when you're planning it from out of state and you're trying to get all your ducks in a row before the big day. A woman wants to look her best on her wedding day, and if she's a little stressed out or "difficult", a good stylist should be able to put her at ease and reassure her that everything is going to be perfect. Instead the stylist at Ambiance almost brought my fiance to tears the way she spoke to her with an "I'm right, you're wrong" attitude and demeanor. I'm just glad my fiance was able to gracefully let her know that she will not be needing her services in the future and hung up the phone before she could be berated further. This salon is probably a great place to recommend to your ex-girlfriend, Bruce Jenner, or anyone you feel like pranking. If MTV brings back that show Punk'd this place would make an awesome set for an episode. read more

Recently went into Ambiance and saw Cailyn for Great Lengths hair extensions. They look completely natural and feel amazing. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking to get longer or fuller hair. I absolutely LOVE my new glamorous look!! The new salon is absolutely gorgeous inside and the location is extremely convenient. All of the stylists are very knowledgable and are always friendly. I used Cailyn at ambiance salon for hair on my wedding day. It came out absolutely perfect, exactly what I had wanted! I did a half up half down style, Cailyn did tell me in advance that when you don't have it all pinned up you run the risk of weather and other things affecting how it looks after she leaves. I didn't mind, I wanted it down. Well it looked perfect all night long, we even went outside in the rain and took pictures. When we finally went to bed at 2am it still look exactly as it had when I walked down the aisle. Also, I did my trial with Cailyn the day of my rehearsal dinner, after we decided on a wedding look she did a different style for me to wear that night and I received so many compliments, it looked amazing! I have to say that I have not experienced such poor customer service in a very long time. I will never return after my treatment and I have to say the massage was nothing to write home about either. I feel bad for the owners of this business, because I know the massage therapist only rents a room and I may have chosen this place as my new spot, because I just relocated to the area and am in a desperate search for a salon and massage therapist. I had purchased a Groupon for the first time for this place. I had not printed the coupon to see any fine print before I attempted to make my appointment. I called on a Wed. nt at 6pm and they had an opening the following day at 4 or the next Friday. I took the following, but specifically asked if I could call once I saw my schedule of patients the next day if I needed to reschedule and she said "not a problem". I checked and I was fine at work. Then at like 200pm I was told my medical secretary added a 3pm appointment without even asking me. I immediately called Ambiance and told them my issue, so they rescheduled me for the other opening for next Friday. Then 2 hours later I listened to my voicemail and it was the massage therapist telling me that I have now forfeited the Groupon and would have to pay full price (after already spending $30 for a $60 massage)... I was extremely upset, because work was stressful and a long commute in the awful winters had given me tension headaches and I was in desperate need of a massage and now this was just adding even more stress and tension to the situation. I was really upset and confused. The front desk told me that I have to rescheduled before 24 hours, but I hadn't even made appt in 24 hours and noone at their place told me about this rule or else I would've just took the Friday appt in the first place. It was my medical secretary making a mistake mixed with their front desk staff making a mistake and not informing me of the rules... I just gave up, but my boyfriend was really upset, so he called the owners. They were very understanding and told him that it would be straightened out. I then got a call from Kristen that she would honor the Groupon and when could we schedule. I made the appt. Then 3 days before the appt she called me that she had a death in the family and had to reschedule. I didn't think it was a big deal, but I will be honest to tell you that I'm not sure she was even being truthful. She left her openings for the following week. We talked and I told her my availability the following week. Once she got her book at work she TEXT ME "NEXT FRIDAY AT 3PM IS FINE. AS I HAD DISCUSSED WITH YOUR BOYFRIEND, I WILL PRORATE YOUR MASSAGE.' NOT WHAT WAS AGREED UPON AT ALL!!!! I JUST WENT ANYWAYS, BECAUSE IT WAS STILL A BETTER DEAL THAN LOSING THE $30 I ALREADY SPENT THERE. It was all very sneaky and I totally understand the Groupon and rules, but your staff HAS to know the details to tell customers, so that they are informed. Although I no longer live in the Latham I still travel upstate from Brooklyn to get my cuts and color done by Chris (former owner of Progressions hair salon). I have had many cuts in colors over the past 10 years in nyc and Chris is by far the best, I'll continue to travel to see her. She's also the sweetest and HILARIOUS. read more

I had a negative experience with someone who rents space at Ambiance. After my experience on the phone with her, Brooke (the owner I believe) contacted me and offered to cut and hilight my hair for free in order to give Ambiance a chance. I did so, yesterday, and had a WONDERFUL experience. Everyone was incredibly nice and Brooke did a fantastic job with my hair. I will probably be returning to Brooke as a permanent hair stylist! I booked Ambiance salon for my wedding, and soon regretted it after none of my calls or emails were returned. I emailed them according to the address on their website, which I then found out "they don't check that email." I was stressed out and uneasy the entire time, as my calls went unreturned because "they are very busy" and "I'm not the only bride they're dealing with." My messages "must have gotten lost" and they asked me to put in a deposit 3 months after I had already done so-- they lost the paperwork that stated I had paid it. I had an outrageously expensive hair trial ($125) that took all of 35 minutes, and fell out within an hour of getting it done. Kailyn is very unprofessional and rude. When it comes to a wedding, you want everything to be easy and perfect-- I wasted my $200 deposit and hair trial fee, but now have peace of mind with a new salon (that returns my calls and I'm confident that they'll SHOW UP on my wedding day!) read more
