I always thought my first review on YELP would be in a fit of anger after getting food poisoning or getting horrible service at some new trendy restaurant my new bride and I decided to give a try. Surprisingly my first review is to sing the praises of our amazing "Professional Photographer" for the most important day of my wife and my life to date. If you are looking for an artistic eye that can see creative ways to highlight the beauty and uniqueness of you and your event; a high level professionalism that is more focused on getting the shoot the way you envisioned it than billing you for every minute of their time; and a comforting level of experience that lets you relax and know that this is one area of your event you are not going to have to worry about, then Ambrosia Event Services is the service to use. My wife and I set are wedding date for December 11th of 2011. We only had two months to plan the wedding and being new to the area, didn't have a clue on who would be available, competent, and affordable on such short notice. Our venue referred us to Ambrosia and we set an appointment to meet with Michael. We met with him at the venue and were almost immediately put at ease. He shared a bit of his portfolio with us and we were very impressed. His kindness and wealth of knowledge made us feel very comfortable. We were also extremely pleased with how affordable the engagement and wedding photo packages were. The day of our engagement photo shoot, Michael was set up on time with a bunch of great ideas and locations around town that would really bring out our uniqueness, style, and love for each other. There was no ticking clock; he worked until he had all the shots he needed to get the job done right. Because we were on a short schedule and wanted to get some of the engagement shots back for our invitations, we were able to get a bunch of shots and even a web page of photos back within a week. The shots really captured the essence of what we were looking for and we were excited about how the wedding photos would turn out. The day of the wedding, Michael showed up early with a partner. They took all the obligatory shots but went above and beyond. They took shots of every minute detail of our special day. This was especially nice because we didn't have a videographer to capture more of the essence of our day. After the wedding, we had the photos and a web page ready for viewing within a few weeks. Everyone was impressed by our wedding and engagement photos. We are so happy we entrusted Ambrosia Event Services to capture our wedding. We highly recommend them to our friends and are looking forward to our Trash the Dress Shoot later this year. read more

They day of my event (12/7/18) Walter and Andrew (the photographer and cinematographer Allen sent) were an HOUR LATE and left an hour early. Walter (the photographer) was HIGH on VICODIN, was tripping all over himself, fell twice, and managed to capture himself and Andrew in 90% of my pictures. Not to mention my pictures were blurry, out of focus, poor lighting, and the list goes on. Walter had no idea what was going on and he admitted to me that he was on Vicodin, in pain, and his back had gone out earlier that day. After my event, I reached out to Allen, heartbroken and crying, pleading for an explanation and help with the photos I was given as a "final product". Allen stated he knew the state Walter was in at least TWO HOURS before my wedding but hoped Walter could pull it off. WTF?!? Allen had at least 2 hours to find a suitable replacement (subcontract out to a sober person or someone else on his staff) but instead chose not to tell me what was happening and did nothing. Allen robed me of my ability to make an important decision about my special day and instead did nothing. Now, Allen isn't responsive to me, ignores my requests and emails to find a solution or for an update to see if they can salvage any pictures. Allen and Walter completely ruined any opportunity for me to have pictures of my special day. I first reached out to Allen in August of 2018 so he could photograph and get video my wedding on 12/7/18. I was promised (via what they advertise on the website and the contract we signed) and paid for professional photography and cinematography. Beyond Walter not being sober he didn't know what he was doing. Allen failed me and is now ignoring me and wont work with me to make it right. read more

I am so happy I chose Ambrosia Event Services to coordinate my wedding! My Mother and I were beyond stressed about what to do, what to choose, who to hire, and who to trust for our wedding but when we got things going with Ambrosia, they made that part super easy. They have a bundle deal where I didn't even have to hire any vendors, they had all of them included in the package! My Mother and I felt we needed someone to help us get on track with planning the wedding and they were able to provide the tools we needed in order to do that. It was an extra fee for coordinating services but I feel it was money well spent!! Becka went above and beyond to make the day of an absolutely amazing day! She really did work her tush off and I am very thankful for her!! She made it possible for my Husband and I to really enjoy our wedding and spend that time with all of our loved ones. Allen really made it a point to make sure I was a happy Bride. He wanted to make sure that no matter what happened I was in the loop and if there was anything I needed or any questions I had, I could call or text him anytime, which made it super easy for me to communicate with him since texting is so much easier than a phone call sometimes. The photographer, Amanda had taken our engagement and wedding photos and even though I can feel self-conscience about myself sometimes, she really did take some beautiful photos and I love every single one of them! I feel so blessed and honored to have worked with such great people to make my wedding day a perfect day. Looking back now, I don't know what I would've done without Ambrosia!!! read more

A WARNING to all those who use this company!!! Please be aware that the owner is UNRELIABLE, UNPROFESSIONAL and UNQUALIFIED to host events. I use their company October 5, 2019 for a divorce party in Long Beach Ca. The event looked more like a prostitute convention over appetizers. Allen Newsum is the owner of this illegitimate corporation. During the event his staff failed to serve the food as directed. Instead his staff ate the appetizers, mingled with guest as if they were part of the party, Many if not all of his female staff members also took part in illicit behavior by smoking marijuana and having sex with guest in the upstairs bathroom. (I believe this was encouraged by Mr. Newsum) While all this was going on Mr. Newsum remained on his phone chatting up potential new business and helping himself to additional food entrees. For anyone who cares about their events or parties DO NOT HIRE this company. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this staffing agency read more

Michael did my engagment photos and my wedding photos. I could not be happier with his work. He really takes the time to get to know you as a couple so that he can accurately portray your style and story through his photos. And it makes all the difference. I work in the wedding and event industry, and I have never come across a photographer whose work I admired so much. I absolutely love his style, he does not do the cookie cutter work that you find so often in this industry. My wedding album came out better than I could have ever imagined. Again, he uses what he knows about you as a couple and individually in order to accurately portray the story of your wedding day in the way that he lays out and organizes the photos into your book. I am very glad that we hired Ambrosia for our wedding! Allen was very easy to work with, he is extremely professional and worked with us every step of the way to ensure that our requests were met within our budget. In retrospect, I realize how chaotic wedding planning and actual celebration would have been if we had hired separate vendors for each service. My husband and I opted to use most services that Ambrosia provides (decor, flowers, lighting, DJ/MD, photo booth, photos and video!) - we got a great bundle deal, and all services/personnel worked together in harmony :) I would also highly recommend taking advantage of their free wedding workshop for help with posing, and preparing yourself to look fabulous in the wedding photos. I would absolutely recommend Ambrosia Events Photography! Michael is a true professional photographer! and most of all he knows how to work with the couples (very important when you are looking for a wedding photographer). We had amazing time working with him. He had a lot of ideas he knew what he wanted and still was open to many of my ideas (that was important to me as a bride:-)). Because of that we had pic we dreamt about and more!!!!! Ambrosia/Allen took our engagement and wedding photos and we were nothing but pleased. Whlle planning my wedding I became quite addicted to Pinterest and I came to my engagement shoot and wedding with picture examples that I would like to replicate and I was surprised at how willing Allen took in these suggestions. He got the style I was looking for and executed those looks as I'd liked. Talk about dedicated too. He fell a couple times in our mountain wedding site and kept on trucking like nothing happened. My husband and I worked with Allen as our wedding photographer. He was great! He made our photography experience very organized and made sure that we got all of the pictures that we wanted. He was easy work with and asked lots of questions so he knew about us as a couple and knew what was important to us.
