They moved, stopped corresponding to my communications and essentially "disappeared" with thousands of money owed to me. Don't make my mistake. I wanted to be cheap to serve someone for small claims court and tried to get friends to do a process service but it was just stressful and we failed and simply put the person on notice that we were trying to get them served. Hiring Scott was a great decision. It took me a while to get the correct address (a couple of months) and Scott gave me some good advice even prior to actually contracting his services. Once I had the address, it was very easy to pay online and he got it done within a few days and well within the deadline. He was professional, resourceful, and easy to communicate with. Having to litigate is unpleasant enough, but having to make sure you serve the defendant properly can be even more nerve wracking. I'm glad I decided to look up process servers on Yelp and found one that was near to me and the defendant. There's a reason why AMBUSH is as highly rated as they are. Pro's: Scott is prompt when returning calls and his demeanor on the phone is professional. He clearly explained what I needed to send/bring to him and payment options and laid out what to expect. Con's: Due to the one star review by 'Mister P' I got leery when Scott didn't immediately respond and acknowledged that he received my email with the summons to appear in court. I sent the email on a Thursday morning and when I didn't hear back at all that weekend I called him on Monday morning. It turns out Scott served the defendant on Saturday. I received a proof of service in the mail immediately afterwards with a letter explaining that a copy was also sent to the court. Conclusion: I hope to never have to file another small claims court lawsuit but if I have to serve another person I know who I'll check with first. read more

Never having sued anyone before, my knowledge of process servers was more or less limited to Seth Rogan in Pineapple Express. It seems like an excellent way to get called all sorts of bad names, but like professionally. Anyhoo, a woman hit me with her car, lied to her insurance company about it, and now I have to sue her (it's the new street justice). it's stressful for anybody to go through a litigation, although serving the papers can be problem if not done correctly i hired Scott to serve the summons to a girl who hit my car that was being really evasive after she changed her story to the insurance which resulted me taking her to small claims. I had 'filed by fax' to save a trip downtown and realized I didn't have enough time to use the Sheriff's service so my only option was using a private service. Soooo, did ton's of research and there really weren't many out there with decent reviews even on Yelp. Gave a call to a couple to get prices and although this service ended up charging $30 more than the Sheriff's at the court, it turned out being well worth it. Scott sounded friendly and straight forward from the start. He answered his email sent a Paypal invoice and served the scanned document I sent him the very next day (not sure that it's always that quick.) I got verification (source undisclosed ;) that he went straight up to the front door and didn't leave till he had properly served the papers. He mailed me the 'proof of service' as well as filing it with the court the following day. So pretty much I can say I would DEFINITELY recommend this guy. Hopefully I won't have a need for this service again (God willing) but if I did I would know who to go to. read more

I loved how prompt this service was .after the defendant /home owner, who was a land Lord ( a loser named AFSANEH DOOST )WHO did not give back the money she owed me after I moved out as a result of her harassment and abuse and police arresting her .she avoideded the sheriff 3 consecutive times on being served the court papers, I hired ambush services and Scott who was very helpful on the phone guided me and sure enough she and her son NIMA were served in 20 minutes. I hired Scott initially to serve a notice for me and it went well, so I asked him to file the additional paperwork for me. I emailed him the paperwork that was provided by the court, he sent me an email asking for a cover sheet that I already supplied. I filled it out and sent it anyway. The next morning I received an email from him complaining how he spent hours of ink trying to print my paperwork, he then called me and began yelling at me because the form I sent to him was not a good copy...he started yelling and telling me he should have been out of here by 10 o'clock, he actually yelled through the phone and would not let me get a word in edgewise...he hung up on me! I guess the good thing is he returned my money...what an awful, unprofessional and unwarranted confrontation for no reason.... read more

Had to use AMBUSH to serve papers to defendants for a small claims case. My experience was great. I emailed them with some questions before payment and they responded same day. After I paid via Paypal, they contacted me within an hour to ask how I wanted to give them the papers. I chose to email the paperwork to them. The papers were served within 2 days and Scott emailed me on a Saturday to let me know it's been completed. He also took care of the official paperwork for the courts. Glad I chose to use these guys. I have nothing but praise, for the business owner, Scott. I have a Civil Rights Violation Case in U.S. District Court Central District Western Division. I'm a Pro Se Litigant. Scott went very well beyond my expectations. He served the Attorney of Record for 13 Defendants, who tried to claim the owners of the property, that have been actively avoiding service, where I was subjected to a Hostile Living Environment, were only " Specially Appearing". During a Status Conference with Magistrate Judge Maria A. Audero, the attorney claiming " Specially Appearing" was laughed at by the Judge, when she Informed him there is no such a thing as "Specially Appearing" in Federal Court. she gave him a week to speak with the owners, and they finally accepted service. I'm a Heterosexual Male that reported Same-Sex Sexual Harassment in Housing by an Illegal Immigrant working for LB Property Management Inc. Rather than stop the Stalking, in Order to Sexually Harass, LBPM hired an outside law firm Osuna & Dotson and after 3 Temporary Restraining Orders against this 6'3 320 Lbs Illegal Alien to stop him from Stalking me, in Order to Sexually Harass Me, Scumbag Attorneys Claudia Osuna and Juan Dotson used their Lying-Ass Process Server Antonio Salone to File a False Proof of Service on me, to get a Default Judgment that was then used as Just Cause in a Retaliatory Eviction case against me. After, I lost because Scumbag attorney Richard Daggenhurst used every Dirty Lawyer Trick in the Book, so that I would lose. I Appealed my T.R.O. Against Sexual Harasser, His case against me, and the Unlawful Detainer case. I was not successful on any of the Appeals. However, now that I Filed my case in Federal Court, at the Status Conference, The judge stated, "This is a case that needs to be settled." after 4 years of fighting all 13 Defendant Scumbags, I'm finally going to get what I deserve, Retribution, for the Violations of my Civil Rights. Scott, the gentleman that runs this service, seems like a nice guy. That being said it seems like a one man operation (he answered the phone every time I called and seemed to be out and about) so I guess he can get bogged down. My main complaint was that I overnighted some papers to him on a Tuesday from Santa Monica to Van Nuys via FedEx. It took him nearly 9 days to serve them. When I asked about this he said that he hadn't received them until Friday. When I mentioned they were overnighted he changed his mind and said he got them on Thursday. His waffling convinced me he was being deceptive. You can make a decision for yourself: Do you trust FedEx, the big national delivery company, or Scott, the service processor? Update 11/27/2013: The owner of this business responded so let me clarify my position. Note that he has taken 6 months to do so, so he either has the worlds best notes (read on for documentation of his lack of detail) or he is simply trying to find excuses for his failure in service. First, I did overnight via FedEx. Maybe the mail clerk didn't put it in his box? I suppose anything is possible but you make your own judgment about the reliability of major mail services and whether this is likely. Second, I made it very clear both on the phone and in writing that the individual being served did not work on Fridays. The fact that he even attempted to serve at work on a Friday instead of at home shows either an inattention to detail or a lack of good faith. He was probably working in a area and just tried to serve as many people as possible. However, when you are paying for a set number of attempts and he ignores information like this, it could end up costing you money if he fails to serve the papers. Third, he is absolutely correct that I paid for his "standard" service. Nevertheless, prior to giving Scott my business I called and asked about the time frame in which my documents would be served. He said he would said they would be served quickly and his response indicated that they would be served within a few days of receipt. In short, the owner of this business has mischaracterized his dealings with me and I'm removing yet another star given that my primary complaint was deceptive and misleading business practices. read more
