I'm not sure what theater some of these reviews are talking about, but the Morgantown 12 AMC is wonderful. The theater is clean, the restrooms are updated and good, and the temperature is just right unless you're someone used to 60 below AC at home. I live 23 miles away in a county that has no indoor theaters. I wouldn't drive that far if the theater was crummy. I'd wait for it to come on TV. The popcorn is fresh, the drinks are not watered down, and the personnel are friendly. I just wish this theater were closer to my home. I'd be here every week. read more

The saving grace for me was the luxurious seats that recline and heat up...I was so upset when I first went in! We had 20 minutes before our movie started "Indiana Jones" and the lines were crazy with no guidance. The ticket guy should have just SOLD TICKETS...but he was getting food orders, making pop corn, etc and there was 2 other guys back there. I would have understood if he was alone but he wasn't. He should have just got the tickets sold... There was no organization at all. I could have just walked on into the theater. I know the seats are assigned, but you could always play dumb and move...people do it all the time!! I asked him to use my $5 rewards when I bought the 2 tickets for Tony and I but he said oh you have to use that on concessions only. I said okay give me a small popcorn and drink combo. He did but he charged me full price. It would have took longer for him to correct the mistake he made and it was already 12:03, 3 minutes late to my seat I am a AMC member and I am upset with the service here! Next time, Regal gets my money, but I gave you 3 stars instead of 1 due to the seats ONLY!!!! read more

Horrible experience. my family purchased 12 tickets to see How to Train Your Dragon. we also purchased 4 large sodas and 4 large popcorns, only to get in and seated in a sweat box. As soon as we sat down, we were drenched in sweat. Someone went out to inquire about the temperature to just be told oh, the AC hasn't worked in that particular theatre for a while and there is nothing we can do. read more

the Morgantown AMC is in poor condition, specially the bathrooms! they need a major update and deep clean. the theater itself was updated a few years back and does have reclining, heated seats. they need to do a better job keeping the facility cleaner. the front entrance isn't the most appealing and needs some fixing too. We do enjoy the discount Tuesday & wednesdays! read more

Maybe theaters are trashed now for evening movies, but the soda and butter areas were just that, a mess. The actual theater experience was great; now that we know that start time are a solid 20-30 minutes after the movie time, that helps. Love previews; but commercials for 15-20 minutes is bad. read more

We went to see Zootopia last evening in theater #10. It was FREEZING in the theater. I am a "cool" temp person and prefer a room on the cool-side. But this was ridiculous. I had on several layers under a long winter coat. PLUS I had brought a blanket AND had the seat-heat on high. At one point I put the hood up on my coat. Everyone in the theater was complaining about the temperature. I asked to talked to a manager after the movie to ask if the theater temperature would be set to be that cold all winter. She told me she monitors each individual theater temperature in her office and she said she was "sure" the temperature was between 65 and 70. Seriously??? She didn't offer to check for herself...no apology - just insistence that everyone that had been freezing through the movie were wrong...HER "gauges in her (warm) enclosed back-room office were correct". She offered to let the people in charge of HVAC know - but assured me that it was an outsourced third-party company and they likely would do nothing. To top off the evening...the bathroom had no soap in any of the containers and it needed to be cleaned. Do better...AMC of Morgantown. You are losing customers. read more

The theater was awful from the moment we stepped into the door. You would think that since they are the only theater in town the would do better but NO. There was popcorn all over the place from the counter where you put extra butter to the soda machines having no ice The worse theater ever The theater experience was severely compromised from the moment we entered. Despite being the sole theater in town, the establishment fell short of expectations. The counter area was littered with popcorn, and the soda machines lacked ice. I am an AMC Stubs List member and I am here sometimes once a week. While I am happy with AMC as a whole, this place needs more attention. The theaters, hallways, bathrooms, and entryways are often (almost always) unkempt. Staff struggles to keep on top of things from issues within theaters to bathroom cleanliness. Sometimes it feels like there are 15 people working behind the counter, long lines, and still no maintenance or upkeep throughout the facility. The AMC itself is well equipped and just needs some TLC and attention from staff. I hope management can figure it out. read more

my boyfriend lost his wallet and we asked them to check the place we sat and to check forage to see if anyone took it and they completely ignored it until we said we'll file a police report, after we called 6 times with no answer and after saying we'll file a police report they found it. they lied to us and everything. never going there again. read more

I was in theater 8 and as soon as I walked in all I could smell was mold. I can't imagine this being safe for anyone to be around.

Only good thing about this theater is the student discount tickets. We went to see a movie that was showing at 9:45 and 10:15, we showed up around 10:05 and bought our tickets, then I realized the girl have us tickets to the 9:45 showing. When I asked her to change it, she simply said "you haven't missed much." We never buy snacks or drinks here. Extremely over priced. The theaters are also extremely dirty and sticky. read more

We will NEVER step foot in this theater again. We bought tickets for a movie that was advertised as starting at 7 pm. Instead, they showed previews and commercials for almost a HALF HOUR! A couple of the ads even sneakily tried to trick you into thinking they were the start of the movie but nope, just another obnoxious AD. We walked out at 7:26 and had to argue with the rude manager before finally getting our money back and leaving. A few previews? Fine. A half-hour of them plus commercials, all at earsplitting volume? Edited: how wrong I was... Probably the worst theater I've ever been to. Besides the terrible lingering smell, the horribly bored staff, and the creaky uncomfortable seats I have yet to be to a movie where one of three things didn't happen: 1) Kids sneak in, usually running and laughing, and joke around annoying everyone. 2) People talk and use their phone (moreso than other theaters I've been to, must be the type of mall rat, trailer trash locals the place appeals to) 3) Either the screen is torn in some spot or the picture/projector is lined up wrong throughout the movie, even after saying something to the staff. Bonus: one of the speakers crackles/is popped. I will NEVER go here again, even if offered a free early pass to see Justice League, Star Wars, or anything else. I wish AMC would close and gut/overhaul the place. I don't see the hate for this theater... Yes it's old smelling (like the AC is broke or vents have never been cleaned) and the seats aren't the greatest...but when you're going on Tuesdays or a "twilight" weekend show and paying $5 its fine. Between the two in Morgantown neither even comes close to the theaters I'm used to in the Chicago, IL suburbs...there they have recliners, food/menus/perfect projectors, IMAX, etc...but this is a college town so w/e. I saw Man From Uncle and the 4:20pm start time was really 4:30...6 coke commercials, a Sprint ad, and at least 3 "buy our concessions" later, the trailers started (all SEVEN). The movie really didn't start until around 4:45...fine for lazy college kids but really annoying for grown adults. Easy fix, just show up later I guess. All in all not a bad theater, its nice that it's next to the mall's food court/in the mall for fun after, but it makes me miss the theaters back home...especially the ones with multiple beers on tap and couches with restaurant tables...oh and they were $5ish too. read more

The manager is a red haired young woman with a nasty attitude. They showed a movie that had subtitles but the zoom was wrong so half of them were cut off and it made the whole movie terrible. I let them know how bad it was about 10 minutes into the movie and was ignored. She told me after the movie that they didn't attempt to do anything because it "would interrupt the movie for everyone else" everyone in the theater was having the same issues reading the subtitles! Then I went back 24 hours later after the issue was supposed to be fixed and watched the movie again...but nothing had changed at all. I left them know within 1 minute of the movie starting that the problem was still there and they attempted to just aim the projector up so that the subtitles were barely cut off instead of half. This cut out 10% of the movie on the top instead. She has no business being a manager, let alone a public facing employee. read more

This is truly one of the filthiest places I've ever been to, and definitely the worst theater. I'd give it a zero star if one were available. There is literally grime on the napkin dispensers and the counters are disgusting. They charged me $6 for a small drink and then said that the ice machine wasn't working (warm Coke). The restrooms were out of order. The screen had a big stain of some kind on it, and the entire place stunk and was cold. (I had to keep my gloves on.) It cost almost $25 for my husband and I to see a show that had some kind of technical difficulties. (There was some kind of digital fuzziness on the picture throughout the entire film.) Pros: The movie we watched was good. The theatre had nothing to do with that. Cons: The theatre smelled bad. It was also brutally cold. AC in the summer is nice, but we were relieved to get outside into the heat just to take the chill out of our bones. We spent 63 bucks for 2 adult and 2 kids MATINEE tickets, some crappy stale, greasy popcorn, and a couple of drinks. Conclusion: Our theatre at home in Fairmont may be a bit of a aged dive, but at least it's clean, comfortable and affordable for a family movie trip. We will not go back to Carmike unless it's free, and even then I'll have to think about it. read more

Crappy screen with a huge dent or dirty spot. I'm sure they aren't all this way but come on AMC, this screen is garbage. Put some money into your facilities. The lights don't work. Attended a movie with my wife for date night. A group of teenagers say next to us, in an otherwise empty theater, and talked the whole movie. I left during the movie to ask theater staff to address the problem, which they neglected to do. A night at the movies is too expensive to deal with this kind of garbage. read more

Like going to the ice rink. Watched the movie in coat and gloves and wished I had a hood on my jacket. Don't forget your boots, there's standing water in the restroom. Stand in line at the refreshment counter to get your ticket but no one is checking just walk on in. Two people working as fast as they can and the manager is horseplaying behind the counter with two buddies. This place has gone downhill in a large way. read more

I dropped my (almost) 16 year old son off to watch Halloween with his friends. They would not let him purchase the ticket. OK, fine. My husband went in to purchase the ticket for him. After the purchase, the staff said they would not let him in by himself. Obviously we're OK with him watching a fake Hollywood movie when he can see reality (far worse) every day on the news. I do not believe you're in a position to turn away ticket purchases, my friends, considering the place is a giant craphole! His friend asked random 20 year olds if he could walk in with them (and he was not ID'd, even though those people were clearly not old enough to be his parents). Your assanine policies will be your downfall, and your staff is a compilation of clods! read more

Wow. Not sure what happened to the other reviewers but I have always went to Carmike and experienced at good time. People need to understand that theaters need to make money to and that is why there are ads before the movie. If you don't want to sit around and wait for the movie to start then I would suggest doing what other people do and come about 20 minutes late if its not a first run night. Another reason I go to Carmike is at the time Hollywood wasn't showing movies in digital format. Hollywood was still using film. Once you watch a movie in digital format it is impossible to go back to old school style film. As soon as you walk in the theater there is a huge LCD display showing what films are available. They even offer movie posters that you can take home for free. Carmike is also cheaper for students than Hollywood. I also believe there prices for general admission tickets are cheaper also. Carmike Cinemas has a promotion called "Stimulus Tuesdays" where they offer $5 tickets no matter what time it is, and $1.50 popcorn and $1.50 soft drinks. read more

Disgusted. My husband and I went to see Despicable Me 2. The theatre was dirty, smelly, and it started 45 minutes late! My husband went out of the theatre to ask why it was so late to start, and they offered no explanation other than "It will start soon." We both said we would never return quietly. On the way out of the theatre the manager offered free movie tickets to us for the long delay of our movie. Tempted with the movie "The Heat" we returned to use the free pass. Mistake. The movie theatre smelled like an old wet sock, and I had to shower when I got home because the smell stays with you. Also, about midway through our movie 8-10 teenagers snuck in and were being very rude. Sorry Carmike. I will never return to your Morgantown Mall cinemas. If I could rate this below 1 star I would. Just the worst kind of worst. This place is a joke, but not a funny one like a knock-knock joke that your Dad tells you every time you see him. It is stale, outdated, annoying, and doesn't care that it sucks. I rarely see movies in theaters so some of this many stem from that, but Carmike did a great job in reminding me why I should wait for a few weeks to watch them literally anywhere else. My experience all began with the ticket counter being closed and having to proceed to the concession stand to purchase a ticket. But fear not this was all done "for my convenience"! (As per usual I find waiting for someone to fill a purely asinine sized bucket of popcorn just to go inside a convenience.) It worked though and as I got my ticket I was compelled into getting a drink. Maneuvering around broken seats would have been easier had my feet not stuck to the floor so often. The only solace I had was that I had decided to wear shoes and not sandals today. Next came, of course, the ads/trailers which are consistently the butt of jokes but these were better seeing as Carmike had decided to add in about 3-4 of their own ads. Failing to grasp that I was already there and paid, they didn't need to sell me on themselves anymore, mission accomplished. It did, however, just cement in my mind who was responsible for this utter failure of a business: Carmike, Carmike and their "Stimulus Tuesdays" $2 popcorn and drinks, but wait, today is Tuesday and that kid charged me 6 bucks for a Coke eff you Carmike, eff you... Finally, the movie began, can't screw this up. Wait, what's that? The lights are still on... You have got to be kidding. The lights are on and on top of that there is one that flickers constantly. How do you screw up turning the lights off, it is about as simple as a task gets. Actually hold on a second, yeah there we go now my house is set to turn the lights on and off based on the start times and running times of the movie. It took me a whole 7 minutes to set that up. My house is now better at running a movie then Carmike cinema. It was insanely distracting. So much so that I went to get someone, because you know they don't have an usher. So I leave the movie I paid to see to find someone. Let him know about the issue and there we go. Get back to the movie and about a whole 10-15 minutes later the lights finally get turned off. Oh and those bathrooms, let's just say don't ever go into those bathrooms. read more

Well for starters we get there and got our tickets and got a drink then we went in the room to watch ''deliver us from evil'' it did feel kinda of warm in there but we ignored and thought because we were just moving we were feeling kinda of warm then for a half hour it was still very warm/hot in the room so i went and told one of the employees he said quote ''he will figure out whats going on'' then hr sitting there still not better so my husband went and told the manager we want a full refund he gave us the refund and said sorry the AC was broken WOW really you don't tell your customers its broken or anything so whoever don't ask for a refund will just sit there sweating and being miserable its suppose to be entertainment especially paying for it its ridiculousness and nonsense its uncalled for..so never again will we step back in that theater that was our exp. read more

I love the fact that they do tickets for 5.75 between 4-5:30. Having a family of four, it's our only way to enjoy the movies here and there. No way am I willing to put $40 down for the movies, that's crazy. read more
