4 mom friends and I took our 4 and 6 year olds to see Smurfs on 7/18/25. The second preview played was that of the R rated movie Caught Stealing. It was 2.5 minutes of profanity (endless F b0mbs), s3x and vi0lence. I have yet to receive a response from the management or owner addressing how and why this happened. Inexcusable. read more

Been here a few times over the course of my existence, each time kind of the same as usual. I wouldn't say there's anything terrible about it, just kind of is. The cleanliness is the main issue here - with sticky floors and it doesn't look like the rooms and hallways have had a true cleaning in awhile where doorways and trim and baseboards have been cleaned. Just kind of looks run down now, the ceiling has stains on it and overall just going through the motions. I do like the clock and neon, and the staff is friendly. read more

I feel like I've been transported back in time when I came to this theater. The lobby is tiny (but in an intimate way) and there is only one ticket booth. And maybe it's because I'm from the Baltimore area, but tickets were cheap! Only about $9.50 for an adult ticket. Concessions were also very affordable. We got a regular size popcorn, jumbo soda (that came with a refill) and a box of candy for $11. That would not happen in Baltimore! I think where the theater is lacking a little bit is seats and screen sizes, but it almost adds to the small theater feel. If I'm ever back in deep creek, I would definitely visit this theater again! read more

We had purchased 7 tickets, 7 drinks, candy and popcorns with free refills. It's really expensive to go to the movies nowadays. We had spent over $120. Halfway through the movie we had gone out for a refill on the popcorn, but were instructed to wait at the tail of the line Which was out the door. We waited in line for 20 minutes to get a free refill on popcorn but was denied. They said that they would not fill any refills until all the lines were gone from the lobby. Why wouldn't they just tell us that instead of waiting for 20 minutes and missing a good part of the movie? Their manager Tyler is completely worthless and doesn't know how to his job. I just had the worse customer service i have ever had at this location. Ended up with a roach in my popcorn it crawled up my hand. I asked the .manager cara for a refund she absolutely refused said all sales were final. Asked to speak with her boss she said "she doesn't have one" refused to give me any contact information for anyone above her. I know i will never be back to this location again. read more

One star only because I cannot give it No stars! Seems since this is the only theatre in a touristy area due to Deep Creek they don't care about customer satisfaction. While visiting the area we decided to go watch a movie on a rainy afternoon. Teens we kind and friendly when selling the tickets. Staff was unable to get the movie started for over 20 minutes. We asked about it after waiting about 10 minutes and we're told it would be started soon. After sitting in a darkened theater for twenty minutes we decided to leave because we had dinner reservations. The manager then told us we could not get a refund because it was 15 minutes passed the movie start time...Mind you the movie had not been started!!!! They offered us a ticket for another free movie- We were leaving that evening and unable to use the vouchers. They refused to give us a refund referring to no refund policy after 15 minutes after the movie started. The Manager did not seem to admit or comprehend that the movie had Not actually started though she was the one apparently trying to start the movie. Unbelievably bad costumer service. By the time we were done trying to speak logically to the staff about 15 other people were wanting to leave and all only being offered vouchers to return to a movie theater run by incompetent people. Drive further to find a better theater!!! read more

I don't know if it's just because this place is nostalgic for me, but this is my favorite movie theater in the world. It has cathedral ceilings and one of the best lobbies I've ever seen. Super clean and classy with pictures of old movie stars. There are several screens (I believe 7 or 8) and the seats are pretty standard, but comfortable. One of the best things about this theater though is how cheap their concession stand is in comparison to other ones. You can get a couple of drinks and a large popcorn for under $10, which is pretty unheard of in the big cities. This is such a Deep Creek favorite. A great place to go after on a summer night after an afternoon on the lake, or to cozy up in apres-ski at The Wisp. FIve-stars. read more

This place could use some surround sound but it is a pleasant looking theater with $3 popcorn and $6 matinees. The seats aren't too bad as it feel like any theater that was built before luxury seating started to be a movement in theaters. Bathrooms are clean and staff is polite. Just don't come here expecting folding armrests, large multiplex, stadium seating, and great surround sound. read more

I've lived here in this town my whole life so Garrett 8 has been a frequent stop to catch a movie. I used to love it a lot more but in recent times they have really let the place go. Many of the chairs in many of the theaters are badly damaged or entirely unusable. This issue in particular is why I must give a 2 star rating. During a recent viewing of The Avengers I could barely I find a comfortable position to sit in as the seat of my chair was badly damaged causing me to have to hold myself back into my chair with my legs to keep from sliding out. Moving to another spot would've been great had it not been packed the night I was there. On several occasions I've had l the screen freeze and the sound not work. Walkway lighting is also in need of repair or replacement as well as several areas of the cloth wall that are torn and in bad shape. On the other hand, movie title offerings are kept up to date and changed out often. Staff is always friendly and helpful, and concessions are adequate. Restrooms are also kept very clean at all times. Price is very reasonable compared to other theaters in Morgantown and Cumberland. To close, it's a great spot to see a movie for locals and vacationers if they can get these bad maintenance issues resolved. Otherwise I think I'll make the trip to Morgantown the next time I want to see a 2 and half hour movie. Just can't stand being uncomfortable that long. Please fix these issues. read more

Ahh Garrett 8 home of the odd retail customer service employee. This place is no exception. No smiles at the front when purchasing a ticket, coughs price at you, pay and ticket. Sometimes people say thank-you. Here they do not. On to the candy counter where more kiddies were working. Mostly sitting around and eating and playing with headsets. Well complaining with each other about working on their snazzy headset. Trust me I saw very little work. The girl that gave me a bag of popcorn was chomping away the entire time. The counter girl that rang me must have been trained by the box office girl. No conversation just bark price. She's in a hurry apparently to eat her nachos. They looked better than my sad 30% bottom feed corn bits they call popcorn here. I used to enjoy going here, but they replaced friendly, older people with social skill-less kiddies. Btw I informed the mutated kiddie cashier my popcorn sucked, she just sat there bc she has no skills other than price barking. Which she did again bc she wanted to charge me for a refill. I said forget it. I kid you not it was almost half popcorn bits. Another great locale and business, another dab of local fare trying to take it down. I doubt I return- DVD is a better idea than this place. Watching it outside would be warmer anyhow- The movie was great the theatre is pleasant looking- it was COLD as could be in the theatre. Like people were in coats the whole time while cold air blew on us. Sad- Dear Garret county schools please add social skills training to your curriculum. There are only two things you have that people can't order online, food and entertainment. There's only a few places that do this well in this county. Average size theater will 8 screens. Seats aren't entirely comfortable, but okay. They have some double-wide seats for handicapped access. Screens aren't huge and no stadium seating. Snacks are inexpensive -- a jumbo popcorn with free refill (same day) is just $4.75. read more

I saw 3 movies in one day (due to my location) and it was phenomenal... the theatre was comfortable... asides the others in there that could not shut up the entire movie, there we're no issues with sound, picture, etc. The movies showed exactly on time and the concession stand it cheap but just allow yourself time to wait in line for 10 minutes if u go on a weekend!!!! read more

Gets the job done. Fairly inexpensive, fun and convenient. Wish they had more interesting, off-the-beaten-track movies.
