Been here a couple times now actually both for Taylor swift release films/parties. It's a nice theater in the mall area but the seats don't recline fully and the legs don't go up all the way. Concessions are overpriced but service is good and it's good option when you want to see something on the big screen. A little pricy with or without the amc membership (I don't have one). AMC north lake is the best theatre around. It's the only one we go to in the Charlotte area.

Outside ticket kiosks don't work so you have to buy tickets inside, at the concession area. You can order tickets and concessions online ahead of time but you still have to wait to get your food in a separate line. The whole process is very slow so add in extra time. The theater seems kind of old and not super clean. The heated reclining seats work so that's a plus! read more

My family and I went to see Superman to at Northlake AMC. there was No air conditioning in the theater!!! It was miserable. Everyone in there had their jackets(myself included) and blankets only to attempt to use them as fans. Find somewhere else to go until they work out there legal issues. read more

Northlake is easily the best IMAX experience in Charlotte and on-balance the best overall moviegoing experience I've had here. The IMAX screen is the biggest in the area, although at 51 feet it's still on the small side compared to what the format is capable of. The auditorium also appears to be the only one that was purpose-built for the larger format. The seats are not full recliners, but rockers; they are larger and quite a bit more comfortable than the standard theater seats you'd find at the Concord Mills IMAX. The screen is not laser, like that one, but the image is still bright and well-saturated. The Dolby Cinema auditorium was hit-or-miss: laser projection or no, it's still less impressive than the IMAX auditorium, and the last movie I saw on it exhibited an odd blur/misalignment issue that resulted in a slight doubling of the image most noticeable with text. Standard auditoriums are decently large and have full heated reclining seats that seem to work well. read more

Last Sunday I did something that I had not done in over two years I went to a movie. I wanted to see the new release of Dune and I wanted to see it in the IMAX format. AMC Northlake 14 was the only local theater who offered it in IMAX format although a number of other local venues offered it in regular formats. Went online and bought my ticket and chose a seat assignment for the 4pm matinee. Got there about 10 minutes early and checked in. Did not stop at any concessions but went straight to my seat. Been awhile since I've been to a movie but this theater now appears to offer beer and wine if you are interested. Not sure I ever found the right seat but at least I was in the right theater and the right row (7F) but no one ever challenged me. Theater is in Mecklenburg County which has mask mandates so I wore a mask the entire time. Movie time is listed as 4pm and projectors started at 4pm with 29 minutes previews of upcoming movies all the way till March. Apparently regular patrons know this because the theater didn't really start to fill up for another 20 minutes or so. The finally started to show Dune at 4:29 so 30 minutes wasted Outside of volume be a bit too loud, the movie was enjoyable. Theater was probably only at about 30% capacity. Seating was very comfortable. Row F is a bit too close to the screen so next time will be further back. Looking forward to going to movies again but need to figure out what time to get there to avoid 30 minutes of trailers. read more

This evening I did something I have not done in well over a year. I attended a pre-screening movie premiere at the mall. It was "A Journal for Jordan". This was a very good movie!! It has romance, feel-good, laughter, and a great storyline. Go see it with your spouse, fiance or best friend. Guys will enjoy it as well. It has enough to get you through a small-sized popcorn then you're locked in with the seat reclined all the way back. Go check it out! The staffers all wore masks. The concession stand was fully stocked and the theatre was almost completely full. Everyone followed protocol and wore masks as well. It was a great night out. read more

I'm a lover of movies and I am so glad we are able to get back to watching them in theaters, but the attention to detail has changed for the AMC brand. The Northlake location is ideal for a quick movie after a day of shopping or one of those "Dinner & a Movie nights! We often visit the movies on Saturday or Sunday morning when its a little quieter and I would recommend the same if you don't care for the teen or late night crowd. This visit, we went in the evening as we figured there wouldn't be many people seeing the movie we were looking to see at that time. If you are going to go to the movies, why not have the full movie experience with snacks and all? As the menu at AMC is growing, it is important to make sure you have the items listed on the menu and/or have a way to notate you are out. I had my eye on one thing and that was the Bavarian Pretzel... they did not have any ready to prepare (the exact response was, "We have some in the freeze, but don't plan to thaw them out tonight!" The issue lies with the customer service as they provided no alternative or apology, which should be the goal. I do believe this is an opportunity for the staff to be more customer oriented so they would want to come back and not leave disappointed. So because I have had the pretzel before, let me share the goodness! The Bavarian Pretzel is the size of a medium pizza but taste just as great as a New York style pretzel. You get the option of having nacho cheese and spicy mustard for dipping... so good! It is has a tight outer layer, but soft and lovely on the instead. You'll probably eat 1 or 2 portions during the movie, but have to take the rest home; is a meal for two days lol! I would try one if you can get one. All in all I would recommend visiting this location to see one of the newest films, ideally during the day if you can. I visited the AMC Northlake 14 this past week in the middle of the day and was pleasantly surprised. My particular theater had new working seats and new carpeting. The booth to purchase tickets was closed. I ordered tickets online. The matinee hours are excellent. The theater has armed security, likely due to the violent crime in the nearby mall. Honestly I wasn't expecting much. I even thought about it twice before buying our tickets online due to Northlake Mall's negative reputation. I didn't buy any food, so I can't speak to the quality of interactions with staff, just made a quick stop by the restroom before going into the auditorium. While it didn't smell clean, it wasn't dirty. But we came for the film and the moviegoing experience, and the IMAX auditorium was great! Amazing image and incredible sound. There's ample parking outside and the theater is around the back side of Northlake mall. Super easy to get to. I like this theater because it's very clean. I enjoy the coke free style machines. Yes , I'm all about some Coke Zero! The downfall of this theater is that it is in need of some upgrades. It would be great if it had reclining leather chairs like the other AMC on south boulevard. This is a nice theater but that's the reason I give it four stars in stead of five. Make sure you sign up for the free stubs rewards card. I use the app on my phone. You earn free rewards at all AMC theaters for all purchases. There's also a bar at this location as well. Super expensive alcohol but so are all of the concessions. My friend and I watched "The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard" and really enjoyed this theater. The seats recline back and are heated. My friend's seat didn't heat up which was kind of disappointing but everything else was fine. The popcorn was good/fresh. It would have been nice if the bar was open but I think it was shut down because of COVID restrictions. The theater was clean and wasn't crowded, which means we were comfortably spread out. Great AMC for being in a mall! Easy to access and lots of parking. Went to see a movie on Tuesday night and the staff educated me on their stubs rewards program which allowed me to get my ticket for only $8 which I was grateful for. Came here on Sunday to watch Dr Strange in IMAX Purchased tickets online and selected seats via the app. Seamless process - arrived at the theater was able to show the tickets on my phone. Employee directed us in the direction of the theater our movie was showing in. Bathrooms - were cleaned a few stalls did not have tissue (I have a habit of always checking before choosing a stall). The theater itself was clean which is always a plus. Did get snacks - but my date retrieved those while I was inside - unsure of this process but they returned fairly quickly I usually go to the AMC in Concord - so it's good to know that Northlake is now an option as well read more

My roommate and I frequent this location with our movie pass. It's your typical movie theater. But for this location the pros are the movie selections and a variety of times to accommodate our busy schedules, and the concessions selection is vast. The cons are the theater rooms are rarely clean (we've stepped on popcorn and sat on gum more than once), the bathrooms are almost always disgusting, and the location is a bit sketch after dark. The staff is hit or miss, which is why I didn't put them in a pros or cons. Most of the time the staff is very kind and courteous. But it's happened a little too much now where a snarky comment is made. We have heard staff at the concessions say "oh my god, I'm not taking the next person." Or comment on people's figures. Once when my app was being scanned for movie entrance the kid rolled his eyes and said "I'm not taking another single person, you scan them in," and then rolled my eyes at my California license. I am from NC, I was only out there four years and just moved back. It's people like him that make me want to stereotype people from NC as much as he scoffed at me for having a CA ID. Very unprofessional, and if I felt like a manager cared, I'd give him or her names/complaints. But they don't care as long as they get their money. read more

This theater is fine. I actually enjoy going to Concord more but this one is closer to my house. They do offer a bar of you want to have a drink. I believe they have Carmel popcorn and I love Carmel popcorn but not this kind. It's the dark sorta burnt tasting kind. But many people do enjoy that flavor. I enjoy the IMAX theater as you can select your seat ahead of time. The bathrooms are okay and somewhat clean, but not the best. I enjoy seeing Tinsley. AMC Theatres have always been my favorite theaters. They're the cleanest, offer the best rewards program, and lately have been offering some fantastic pricing deals during off-peak hours. This newest AMC at Northlake Mall in Charlotte (although a couple years old now) is still the best. It's a little drive if you live in South Charlotte -- or anywhere outside the Huntersville area for that matter -- but it can be worth it. Plus, it's only one of about 3 theaters in the Charlotte area that can offer movies in 3-D when they come out. And, folks, there is a line-up of 3-D movies coming out in the next couple of years. Last weekend, we went late on a Sunday morning to see Disney's "Bolt" in 3-D. Tickets were just $5 each with an additional $2 for the luxury of 3-D, but it was worth the extra cost for the visual effects and it was still cheaper than if we went to see a movie on a regular night for about $9-$10. After buying your ticket outdoors, you enter into a large lobby area. Right away, you can tell that it's a nice complex. It's clean and well-maintained. Our theater was a very large one, probably their only one that can accommodate 3-D showings. It felt very spacious even with a crowd. And, again, I emphasize the clean part. No sticky floors, no holes in the seats, etc. The 3-D experience of "Bolt" was fantastic, both in picture and sound. There was not a complaint in the house. read more

This is a pretty nice AMC all things considered. The interior looks new or recently redesigned. The bathrooms are the same way. They're really nice, but probably could use to be cleaned more often since half of the toilets weren't flushed. This one hadn't been upgraded to have recliners yet, which I prefer. We got there around the time the show started and were still able to get good seats because there are more seats in the theater. The seats are also really big and comfortable. Overall, this is one of the nicest AMCs that I've been too. I wish the one on South Blvd that is way closer to me were this nice! read more

Here's the deal, it's a no-frills movie theater at a mall. Some of the seats are a little broken. (It seems like I ALWAYS get one with a broken cup holder.) Some of the floors are a little sticky. But in general, you can see a movie and then go on your merry way. Not a bad place, just not the most glam spot in town. read more

Holiday weekend (July 4th) and you have one person manning the concessions, one person in charge of all tickets and no bartenders for your bar. There was a line out the door to get in, a longer line to get popcorn and you had no coca cola in any of your coca cola machines. Don't get me started on your bathrooms... This was by far the worst AMC experience I ever had in my life. It was extremely disappointing. I saw management was on site, but it wasn't the kind of leadership that gave much of a team effort. It was more like I'm going to stand and look important while the rest of you suffer. So if the turnover rate for employees is high... well, that might explain why we as the consumers feel it too. A district manager needs to check on this site. This theater needs some major help. read more

I enjoy going here they always play the most recent movies. This place had a rocket office indoor and outdoors to help out with long lines. We were able to pick our own seats. The theater plays IMAx movies. It locates by the mall so it always great to do dinner and then a movie. read more

It's great to go back to the movies! This AMC has really upgraded their seating with reclining lounge chairs and a receipt. There's also reserve seating required for any movie that you can pick out on buying tickets online or at the theater. Wow. I haven't been to the movies in over a year , like everyone else - and haven't been to this theater in over two years. And, I won't be going back - ever. The theater was overrun with loud talking, music playing teens who, when they weren't talking and running around, were making out. They knew they were loud and didn't care. And the atmosphere was such that a person would be afraid to complain. Management obviously doesn't care because no one is checking in the theaters. If they had it would have been cleared immediately. Or maybe they are afraid too. Another blight on Northlake. Some people better get some guts and do something or there won't be a mall anymore or a theater. Unless, of course, you want to have a place where kids can hang out and make out. Disgusting. Do. Not. Not sure what all the poor reviews are about! This place is exceptionally clean, seats are comfy, no hassles. They just released a new FREE stubs program, which isn't as lucrative as their (now ) $15/year Stubs rewards program, but for me, it's better than nothing! Back home in New York, a lot of AMC's have renovated to have reclining seats that you reserve ahead of time, so that's the only thing this theater could use! Other than that, friendly assistance at the box office and concession stand, new Coke Freestyle machines where you can pick your soda flavors, and stadium style theaters. What more could you want? This is an easy access theater at N Lake Mall near my family who lives in Hunterville. I like it because of location but they also seem to consistently have more than adequate staffing at the ticket window...the lines moves quickly. The theater always seems to be clean and in good repair. They do a very good job with concessions as well though I think the prices are a bit steep. The other big plus is lots of parking and you have the option of various exit doors to different areas in the parking lot so yo can make a quick getaway if needed. read more

I've been to this location several times to take in a flick & have never been disappointed. The staff here are always very pleasant & welcoming & actually seem to enjoy working here. The concession area, while busy at all times, is always clean & the employees are quick to get your snacks & drinks in a timely manner. The seating in the theaters are comfy & have the handy drink holders at each seat. This comes in quite nice for those thirst quenching drinks. Just your regular old theater here. It's attached to the mall and teens love to shop around at the stores and cause mayhem before going to the theater and talking during movies. This theater always has the big box office hits - those action films like Star Wars and the like from Marvel. They have an IMAX theater and 3D options. Despite what I said about noisy kids, the theaters here actually do stay pretty quiet. But I have to agree with at least one prior review that they don't stay especially clean. The seats are old and stained and tend to sag in even for a small guy like me. The floors are usually littered with empty cups and crushed popcorn. That aside, the sound here is amazing and I've never experienced an issue with a movie. The staff has always been helpful and usually quite friendly. It seems recently they also added a full bar here serving just about anything you would expect. I guess an attempt to compete with places like Studio Movie Grill? Anyways, it's quite tempting when I go here though alcohol being a diuretic it doesn't usually pair well with movies you can't pause. read more

This is the usual AMC theater that I attend because it is closest to my house. It is normally very clean and not very crowded because I usually attend matinees or I go on $5 Tuesdays. I have never had an issue with unfriendly staff. The popcorn is fresh and they have the drink machine where there are hundreds of options. They also have pizza and nachos and more food like that at concessions. I've only visited the bar once but I had a margarita and it was very good! read more

We enjoyed watching Avatar Way of the Water.. the recliners were comfortable and it was clean as well as the restrooms. Got Popcorn a large but the large didn't come in the bucket it came in a bag with 1 free refill as well as the pop, but we would have perferred a bucket it is larger the attendant said they only have the buckets for specific movies!? This AMC has a lot of theatres and the seats are very comfortable. They don't recline, but they are comfortable and flexible. There are armrests between each seat and each seat has a cup holder. Lots of leg room. Attached to mall, so lots of available parking. Ticket prices are average.. Slightly under $10. Matinee shows are $5. I'm unaware of any student, senior or military discounts. Food, like at any theatre is expensive/overpriced. Popcorn is $8.50. Flatbread pizza is $9.52 with tax. Pizza was decent for what it was and where it was made/fixed. read more

Just last evening we got the opportunity to see a prescreening of 1917 in their Dolby enhanced theater. The seating was nice leather recliners and not only did the leg area recline but a separate control to rock the seat forward and back. The touch controls were a little difficult at times to register my finger, not sure if it was me or the touch controls but very comfortable in my opinion for movie watching. The screen was big bright and colorful. When the movie started I could tell the sound system in the theater was much better than normal, the sub/bass was out of this world. In fact when the first explosion in this war movie occurring the extreme vibration and sound made me feel like I was there almost - I think I left the seat when the bomb when off - very impressed. I realize seeing a movie in this Dolby enhanced theater is pricey but I think for a movie like 1917 with it's stunning visuals and sound it is so worth it. read more
