I really wanted to like Lula Belle's, but unfortunately the food didn't live up to the price. The dishes looked promising, but the flavors were very underwhelming. The Creole sauce tasted mostly like oil, and the grits were very watery with little flavor. Overall, the food felt very low-mid quality despite being on the expensive side. The one bright spot was the mimosas--they were actually really good and probably the highlight of the meal. Service itself was fine; the staff was polite and professional. However, everything took a very long time to come out, although I do believe the food was cooked fresh. As far as the ambiance, the live DJ music was definitely a vibe, and the restaurant itself was clean inside, which I appreciated. One thing to note is that gratuity is automatically added, so just be aware of that when you receive your bill. Another downside was the seating--the chairs were not very comfortable, which made the long wait times feel even longer. Overall, I left feeling disappointed given the prices and expectations. On Saturday, I was invited to a birthday brunch for a coworker at Lula Belle's. I parked in the back, not realizing that I would have to walk all the way around to get to the front door. When I arrived, the bouncer at the front was very nice and friendly. I walked in and my party was waiting on me to be sat. The decor in the restaurant is photo shoot worthy. Our waiter was Ray who had all the energy and vibes to ensure that your experience is everything that we needed to be plus more. I was satisfied with the drinks and the drink prices. The food was presented well and came out in a reasonable amount of time . I ordered the grits flights and my best friend ordered the red snapper and grits. I absolutely love Lulabelle's. The vibes are always great, they usually have a DJ, and the lighting is low and vibey lol. I live not even 5 mins from here so if I'm not waiting to stay i'll order a plate to go. I'm never disappointed. The only thing is you can't order to go over the phone and if you are waiting a table it's best if you make a reservation. You can also sit at the bar though. First and last time here. Came for brunch and was surprised to have to show ID and be checked by security. For brunch?? Ok. Wait wasn't bad because we had a reservation. Food orders went smooth. Four in our party wanted mimosa flights but two were told they would have to wait until the first two finished theirs. What? I did get my flight which was horribly watered down with pineapple juice. I couldn't taste any of the flavors I chose. My steak and eggs did not come out with the rest of the group's. It came out 20 mins later and overcooked. We stumbled upon Lula Bell's Restaurant and Lounge while leaving another establishment and decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The noise level was unbearable, making it difficult to enjoy the atmosphere. My guest and I ordered drinks that never arrived. After being seated, our waiter completely disappeared, and even after waiting over 50 minutes, they never returned--not once. One of us had to walk to the bar to order drinks ourselves since no one came to check on us. While waiting, we went to the restroom and saw employees sitting around, laughing, and appearing intoxicated. To make matters worse, we ordered a hookah that also never arrived. After wasting enough time, we decided to leave. When we voiced our frustration to the hostess at the front, she casually admitted that they simply "forgot." We all ordered the Brunch Lamb entree that comes with eggs or sub grits. That alone was unusual as there's a double protien. We didn't cause a fuss, though, as we moved outside on the patio cause it was too loud. We couldn't really enjoy our conversation. We sat at table 16 initially, which was right under the speakers. We also ordered mimosas flights in guava, pineapple, mango, and strawberry. You can change the base from OJ to pineapple juice. They were beautiful, but you have to stir it at the table to get the color gradient. Our syrup was at the bottom. The pineapple was my favorite, though. The champagne is not the best quality, but it's okay because it was brunch. This spot is definitely for a younger vibe. Everyone looks gorgeous, dawning their pre-summer attire. But they told me I couldn't move my reservation back 15 minutes, but when we got there, we were literally the only ones seated at a table( it was empty). They had a velvet rope outside to control the line I guess and so again after hearing the music blaring from outside I assumed this was really a club? There were 12 of us, and upon seating down, the waiter immediately told us we have an hour and a half at the table that was supposed to fit 25 (no way) 12 wasn't comfortable) Additionally, be prepared for 1 bill, although they put your name on the ticket so you can see your order prepared accordingly if you're bringing a large group. Included is your 20% gratuity + tax, I recommend splitting the bill by the number of guests, but tell them ahead of time. The food was OK, but nothing to bragg about. I ordered the honey garlic wings crispy and a caesar salad. The wings were fine, tasted more like a garlic season salt, and NO honey. I was expecting a wet, honey garlic wing. They were dry but tasted better than they looked but wouldn't order again. The salad was somewhat average. Tasted both the sweet potato fries and the truffle fries! The sweet potato fries had a surplus of cinnamon and honey and a little under cooked for my. The TRUFFLE FRIES were delicious! The lobster mac and cheese was OK, and the honey hot wings looked incredible, but the lemon pepper out of all 3 that I tasted was the best. So I came to celebrate a friends birthday and honestly don't know how to feel.. except for rushed. Yes you have to reserve a table and we were seated on time. The server came over and took our orders and that was that. The food came out within 10 minutes of placing our order which was amazing since it was a Saturday afternoon now here where it gets slow. Our drinks took about 30. 1 no one wants to eat their meals without a drink but you don't want your food to get cold waiting on a drink. Once the drinks did come it was only 2 of us still eating. The waitress cleared the table of those that were and asked if we wanted another beverage when we just got those. Now I ordered a mimosa flight, they have a plethora of flavors to choose from, which is great for adventurous mimosa lovers, but that took a bit to come out, no problem. Our food was decent but with the steak and eggs, we ordered it medium and it came out dang near as a Pittsburgh sear. The lamb chops had great flavor. The service, absolutely poor, we never saw our server after the food was dropped so our steak wasn't corrected until we were ready to leave. Just an FYI, all orders are given a 20% gratuity, which probably perpetuated the poor service because if you know you're getting 20% gratuity per table, why provide good service? They have only been open a few weeks but have already mastered a Deluxe brunch menu with all the top favorites from classic chicken & waffles to shrimp & grits. Stopped by for drinks on a Thursday night. Little did I know they do karaoke on that day, but the karaoke was with a live band which is DOPE. During a portion of the night there was a battle of best r&b songs the band vs the DJ. It was a really good vibe. S/O to IzrealThePoet hosting the karaoke. I would agree with another review I saw that the music was very loud. It was a little hard to hold a conversation. The crowd was mature. I sat at the bar. Well I was hoping to upgrade to 5 stars after my visit today. But I can not. You scan the menu which is fine- I like it but can we get some prices please on the menu. The mimosa flight was good especially since it was a full mimosa not the smaller sizes. The music was good. And the food was good and hot but the salmon was over cooked. The breakfast potatoes were really good and the eggs were not my favorite. The French toast had a good flavor but def needed syrup. Now do I think a build your own breakfast should cost $25? No but it was a lot of food. The salmon was a little on the dry side and my friend didn't get her food for a very long time!
