The place is understaffed and apparently, the few employees "working" there have had minimal training or supervision. Took my nephew and we waited around a long time to pay a premium price for bad service. The place needs a good cleaning...there was a major spill when we entered and it was still on the floor when we left. We had an absolutely great time at this movie theater. We came for the Transformers One movie. The staff was very friendly and polite. We got popcorn and snacks and filled up on water at the counter. I know the place, inside and outside needs major maintenance and fixing up. But it's still a great movie theater. Movie was great but the service was awful. the cashiers prioritized their members to the exclusion of everyone else. I understand putting members first, but when non-members wait in line for twenty minutes and no one from that line is served until all the members are, that's not fair. Many of us missed the beginning of the movie and I got there ten minutes before the previews. I'm not saying don't serve members first, but devise a system that still moves the non-member line. For example, two cashiers for the members, one for the non-members. Or something like that. I love going to the movies but can't go enough for to get a membership. This ruins it. read more

My husband and I just had the WORST experience ever in a theater. It's a real treat for us to go to a movie and this was such a disappointment. About half way through the movie, the temp even too warm to begin with, began to creep up. The heat inside became almost unbearable. Holy smokes batman this place is terrible. We have been here at least 10 times. Every time it's the same. It's not due to short staff either they have had tons of staff members. It's like the management staff do not read these terrible reviews. Wife and I went for movie last night. I pay every month for the stubs pass. I order my snacks online to avoid the line. Our movie started at 7 our snacks and drinks were to be ready at 7 for pick up. After standing at the pick up area for 7 mins with out help. My wife hollered out for some assistance. Employees are not incredibly friendly or helpful. This past weekend the napkin dispensers were empty, there is NEVER ice in the pop machine and be guaranteed the double on the one end that one is always broken or shut off. Half of the time there is no carbonation or there is not flavor for the soda, it is always one or the other. They salt the popcorn way too much which seems unnecessary as the popcorn and oil is already salted and they also have salt shakers on the counter!!! Pretty ridiculous that even before Cov they showed no movies starting after 9pm. Helena Cinemax theater has midnight showings of new releases each Thursday.. movies that start at 9 10 11 pm... like normal theaters. Billings AMC is understaffed, dirty, mostly rude snack bar employees. Not sure if AMC can rebound from the virus loss of money- but they now will no longer play any Universal films either due to dispute about Trolls 2. It would be great if AMC leaves & a new company comes here. Would be nice for grown adults to find a movie that is playing after 9pm! read more

Seriously long lines. Movie started at 1:30. We arrived a little after 1. Had to wait in line to purchase tickets at concession. It is now 1:30 and still in a long line to see movie and buy popcorn. Only 2 people working counter and one other handle the food orders. This is a bit crazy for a weekend. If come to a movie might consider coming an hour early. Frustrating. Went out to the popcorn guy because there was no other staff apparently in the building. 10 minutes after the show time start they put music on but no projector, no announcement as to what was going on. After listening to 20 minutes of eardrum-shattering previews, we settled in for Downton Abbey, only to discover that we needed closed captioning in order to follow the dialogue because the volume was SO LOW. I even left the movie to say something to an employee and nothing changed. The deomgraphics for a movie like this would chiefly be made up of the 50 and over age group and all I heard throughout the entire movie was. "What did he say?" and "She said what?" Completely ruined the experience for the three elderly ladies that were with me. Very disappointed in AMC Shilo 14. read more

Carmike was bad - AMC is worse Since AMC took over the food lines are pretty terrible but worse yet is the prices and quality. They have raised prices on the food and the popcorn literally squeaked in my mouth like Styrofoam! Absolutely disgusting, the best part of going to movies for me was always the popcorn and nachos, popcorn is no longer popcorn, I have no idea what that was but it was ick. The nachos come prepacked and tasted like cardboard. The food was gross, this was the first time in my life that I did not finish my popcorn. Summary: The sound level in the Big D averaged 95dB. A quick google search will show you this is dangerous for your ears. Other than that, the theater is clean, and lines move pretty quickly. See below for more detailed review. I love going to movies. And I've gone to this movie theater more times than I can count since Carmike built it. And I'm not going to compain and say how AMC "ruined" this movie theater. They didn't. The lines actually seem to move a lot faster now. Yes you have to butter your own popcorn and fill up your own pop (which is a plus, because now theres a ton of different pop and flavors to choose from.) But I recently went and saw "Thor: Ragnarok" the other day in the "Big D" theater, and it was the worst movie experience I've ever had. I haven't been in the "Big D" since the theater was converted to AMC, and I don't plan on ever seeing a movie in that theater again. The IMAX theater and the regular theaters are fantastic. But the sound in the Big D was so unbearably loud that I almost left. I regret not leaving. But I had already bought the tickets and drove a half hour to the theater so I stayed anyway. I had to plug my ears many times. Even the commercials for new movies coming out before the film started were loud. The commercials AVERAGED 95dB. The movie averaged about 85-90dB which is really pushing limits on causing hearing damage. There were many spikes of 105dB. I'm not a doctor, but do a quick google search on safe listening levels and you'll see what I'm talking about. The movie theater itself is great. It's clean. Lines move relatively quickly. They have an IMAX theater. The sound in the Big D is way too loud though and they need to do something about that. read more

While ticket pricing is always too high, I've started attending on Tuesdays to receive more reasonable prices. While going to see Baby Driver, my ticket was for their "premier" Big-D theater. Super disappointed! Thank goodness we bought our tickets ahead of time as there was only one person selling tickets with the line out the door. When we entered the building there was literally standing water in entrance with an even messier lobby! With no one even attempting to clean?? Waited in line for popcorn for over 30min with only 2 people managing the counter??? Once we received our popcorn we went to fill our drink cups and put butter on popcorn the area was filthy and I mean filthy! An embarrassing disaster! The front doors were late in being opened, and then we were directed to purchase our tickets at concessions. There were two employees trying to handle the lines for ticket purchasing AND concessions. Very slow. I used the restroom prior to going into the theatre and it was obvious it had not been cleaned from the prior day. The trashes were overflowing, dirty floor, etc. Just all-around nasty. I then went into the theatre and the carpets were dirty and the chair sticky. Again, obviously not cleaned. Saw Wonder Woman at AMC Shiloh. There were two lines leading up to the concessions - one general admission and the other AMC VIP's. Waited roughly 10 minutes in line to purchase our tickets, sign up for their free AMC reward program and ordered our drinks and popcorn. Their staff wasn't very friendly but was helpful. We got our food order in a timely manner. Enjoyed sitting in an empty theater until a few other people showed up. Enjoyed our movie. This theater offers ample, free parking and restrooms. Very insensitive employees towards handicapped children which is a total shame in today's day and age. I've not experienced this type of insensitivity in my 45 years on God's green Earth. My Autistic 12 year old son was discriminated against in this movie theater by one female employee on January 28, 2012 at 12:22pm while trying to attend Beauty and the Beast 3D. I've never seen anything like it and am totally appalled that Carmike would allow such discrimination to happen at one of their movie theaters. Managers of Carmike: go to your security tapes for the time given and look specifically at the southern entrance to movie theater #10 where BatB was playing. Service has suffered. I understand that new ownership will look for every economy at first in order to better monetize their investment. I also understand that hiring staff in Billings is difficult currently and these are entry level positions for the most part. However, as a senior couple, we are rethinking if we are willing to stand in line for an extended period of time to purchase tickets and concessions. We attend both Tuesdays for matinees and some weekend evenings as a "date night" with friends. The level of service has recently been consistently unsatisfactory. Popcorn is a traditional favorite at the movies and we look forward to it when we go to the movies. However, we now find the quality has dropped considerably. When the concessions process changed with ownership, pricing changed. The "regular" size popcorn is now too large for individual portions and we've moved to sharing a regular size order. Last week we just skipped it and bought sodas. The popcorn is tasteless and not fresh. It's appeal is lost. We will "hang in there" and hope service and quality will take an up-swing in months ahead. But our movie anticipation and experience is less and less compelling. read more

I'm originally from Billings and am in town visiting my father and the rest of my family and friends. I always like to take dad to see a good movie and today we came to see The Revenant (EXCELLENT film). We chose to see it on the big digital screen and enjoyed very comfortable seating. All was great ... other than we were absolutely DEAFENED by the volume. I have no problem with loud music (AC/DC? Aerosmith? Bring 'em on!) but this was genuinely so RIDICULOUS and OBNOXIOUS that I felt it just HAS to be intentional. THIRTY MINUTES of previews and commercials at such ear-splitting volume that I had to put my fingers in my ears! Had I not had my 86 year old father by my side I would have gone hunting for a manager. Never, and I mean NEVER put yourself through this abuse! This location is probably the nicest and biggest cinema in the state. I love watching movies on the Big D screen. I would recommend seeing an action movie in that theatre.
