My go to movie theater. It is always clean, great popcorn, and fast service. Went to go see A Minecraft Movie. There was only 1 other person in there. The heated electric seats are always nice and clean! My go to theater in Birmingham.

Haven't been to this theater in years, but I choose to see Wicked here because of the movie time was convenient with my schedule. The theater has been remodeled and it's definitely an improvement. There isn't a separate line for AMC Stubs Premiere members and everything is done on the kiosks to order your snacks. The only problem is having to ask for help on how to use the kiosks. They added recliner seats which enhance your experience and for anyone that's cold, there's a button that warm up your seat which I used several times while in the theater. The customer service experience was great with no complaints whatsoever.

I went to see a movie with the family. I am new to town and just discovering all of the businesses around the area. I bought the tickets online ahead of time which made it possible just to go in and show the QR code as opposed to stopping at the box office. We went to a 12:30 matinee viewing which had a 25% discount online. The tickets were only $10 each! The concessions have kiosks that you order your popcorn or drinks or candy from. It was a little confusing to figure that out, but I managed. My popcorn and cup was immediately ready which I appreciated. The theater is nice and has reclining comfortable chairs that have a heating option which I loved.

Coming to see "Night of the Zoopocalypse" on its last day in the theater!

My first Yelp review! On March 11, 2025, four days ago, I came here from Gadsden with my grandfather to see "Night of the Zoopocalypse." We've enjoyed seeing movies together for many years now. I pre-ordered our tickets to go see the 3 PM screening for that day which was the last screening day in the movie's limited run. When we arrived, there was one female employee at the registers, the only employee present during this quiet point of the day at the theater. She did a great job of quickly scanning my QR code and getting our ticket stubs & popcorn ready. Then, we filled our sodas at the Freestyle machines which were fully operational, but one of the buttering stations for the popcorn was out. No big deal. Bringing my grape Sprite with me, we found our way to auditorium 16 for the movie. Trailers played for about 15-20 minutes before the movie started just after 3:20 PM, which was convenient for us since we ran a few minutes late. The only minor issue is that one of the speakers in the right side of the auditorium (when seated) sounded worn or damaged. If there was any moment in the movie with heavy bass, crackling could be heard in that specific speaker. It was so few and far in between that it didn't ruin our experience, but it's still something that should be looked at. I sent a message to AMC about that, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt there since they may not be aware of it yet. The bathroom was clean, and overall, we enjoyed the enjoyed the experience at this AMC theater. This is only the second time I've ever been to one, the other being in Rome, GA. While the one in Rome had a prettier lobby, this theater was satisfactory and I would give it another go if I lived in Birmingham. 4 stars is about right for our experience, no lower than 3.

Brunch and a movie.......... Nice atmosphere, the summit is always a great place to relax for a few.... didnt get any treats due to we had just finished, but the bucket of popcorn looked amazing....... Rambooooooo.....

Fast and Friendly Service. Love the seating. We will be back. We recommend this location for date day or date night. Parking is shared with mall so come early.

    $5 Tuesday's!!
    Heather L.

This theater is in need of some TLC. I'm not really complaining because I only paid $5 for my movie ($5 Tuesday's is the move, y'all), but in comparison to other AMC theaters, this one is at the bottom of the list. I think with it being located at the Summit, they are long overdue for renovations. I'm not the one to go to the theaters as often, but as long as they keep this deal going every Tuesday, I'll be popping up every now and then! Also, we bought a popcorn bucket. It was less than $10 and allows for $4.99 refills in the future. Yes this means no free refills, but honestly, who can eat over a gallon of popcorn in one sitting! Ha! Because we are thinking of coming more often, we thought this was a better deal than the $8 something large free refillable popcorn. More bang for the buck!

Blue arctic blast. Like an Icee! So good!

I say this not to complain (because with a crowd like this on a random weekday, they're obviously doing something right) but to take your kids in car seats (‍) with caution. Crowds in small spaces stress me out and it would have been even worse if we'd had the boys with us. I'd also highly suggest going on a day when you can sit outside. There's very minimal seating inside. They do have a lovely, spacious patio that also feels like a garden with plenty of trees for shade. However, they make it clear they don't want dogs there. Parking was horrific. A narrow street with cars on each side. We barely fit through it. If there wouldn't have been an open spot on it, I'm not sure what the next option is because I didn't see anywhere else and this street only held so many. I asked for extra tomato sauce to go, and I was given what was literally two tablespoons of sauce, charged at an outrageous $3.50. I get that things are pricier now, but tomato sauce is one of the cheapest ingredients, organic or not and as a chain, I can guarantee you this isn't small batch, nor locally made. The markup here was just shocking. I know things cost more these days, but the price does not match the value. For this price point, you would expect much higher quality dining and you can get that easily in Birmingham. It's still a great dining experience, but we're increasingly cautious because the pricing has been a concern for years. Just something to keep in mind if, like many of us, you're cautious about budget.

Hillside Music & Que just recently opened under new management. It was most recently Palm & Pig. I tried it when it was Palm and Pig and I thought it was rather good. Hillside is located near the Vestavia City Center right next to Bob's Power Equipment, which ironically has been in that location for over 20 years at least. Hillside is located on at the end of a small strip so they have a nice outdoor space with a covered patio. It's great for a guitar player and with big heaters is even pleasant to sit out there (when it wasn't Hillside). The interior is quite large despite the small entrance. It extends quite far to the back. They have a nice little bar and a good side stage for their many live performers. In fact their very model for this restaurant thrives on live performers with "Band Inquiries Call 205-901-2225" centered on their menu! Our party arrived on bustling Friday evening. Luckily we didn't have to wait long at all and got a table right away. Our server arrived quickly and got our drink orders. There wasn't a performer but the place was loud with chatter. While we were there, a two man guitar group started setting up. Our drinks arrived promptly and our orders taken. About 15 minutes later our food arrived. Matthew tried the Diablo burger. I had to have a bite and it was spicy as promised. Their "Dooom a -que" sauce wasn't bad. Tammy and Jack tried the Philly. Shaved ribeye, caramelized onions and topped with American cheese on a cuban roll. It also wasn't bad. Plentiful grilled beef and good bread. Sarah had the Hillside burger. It was also good and burger a nice medium. I tried the shrimp poboy. Lettuce, onion, pickle were topped with 6 perfectly fried shrimp in a slightly toasted hoagie bun. After I lathered it with the smoked tomoato aioli sauce which was served on the side, I took my first bite and was impressed. I've had worse and this poboy was quite enjoyable! Yom Yom Yom. We also really enjoyed the "okra fries". The cucumber salad was rather underwhelming and the fries were soggy and undersalted. Surprisingly none of us tried any of their bbq. A good reason to return. We had a good time and had great service. If you enjoy good ole southern comfort food and good live entertainment, give Hillside a try.
