Worst makeup experience ever. Went with a bridal party and 50% of us left upset. One of the makeup artists (dark hair with red and purple in her hair) did a great job with the bride and mother of the bride. The other girl did an awful job. No contour or highlight. Didn't fill in our eyebrows. Pushed air brush which barely covered imperfections. Way too much blush. And various other problems. We all redid our makeup when we got back to our rooms. Way too expensive to leave thinking "I could have done better myself" Hair stylists were decent. No real complaints with them. read more

I check out Ame Salon and Spa on two separate occassions a few weeks ago. My first time there was for an AromaSOUL massage with Tara. FABULOUS it was!! For some reason, I tend to break out when scented oils are used on my skin - I let her know and she made sure she used the unscented stuff. The appointment started off with a foot soak and rub and then on to the table for a 90 minute massage. I went home a new woman. The second time I went was for a brazilian and underarm wax with Julie and highlights and cut with Loretta. Julie was quick, really quick - she was cheery and pleasant and had me done in less than 15 minutes (no lie!). I have a high tolerance to pain, so I'm not a good person to ask whether it hurt or not (LOL). Back downstairs to the hair salon to get my hair did. It has been three years since I've gotten my hair colored, so I was a little nervous. I didn't know what I wanted - I mean, I had ideas, but really I was clueless. I told Loretta what I was thinking and she gave a few suggestions and next thing I know ( 2 1/2 hours later), my hair was mega fabulous and the cut was hot! She's a Senior Designer that has been there for 8 years and hair is in her blood and DAMN she knows her stuff. I got this done two weeks ago and I am still loving it. You know hair color and cut is good when .... regardless of how you style your hair (whether it's for work, school, gym, or a date) you still look damn sexy. I high recommend Loretta bc she made my hair look like something you could only get from Hollywood's finest. So all-in-all, my experience was great. Just don't pay attention to the people at the front desk (except Kathleen, she's a sweetie), and all will be quite spectacular. read more

I recently went to Ame for a hair cut and wedding makeup trial run. The salon looks lovely, and would have been much more pleasing if the receptionist had smiled, or offered a welcome. Neither were given. Though my hairdresser was polite, there was no genuine friendliness. The cut turned out OK, but not jaw dropping. I won't be harsh about the cut because I mentioned I didn't want to cut it too short because I'd like to keep it long for my wedding which is in October. She had asked if there was anything I was looking for and I replied with 'just a trim, unless you have suggestions'. She had no suggestions which I usually mark as characteristic of a hairdresser that either isn't creative or doesn't enjoy their job. I let it go though, and thought I'd wait till after my hair was dried before making my final judgment. The Blow out was horrible, even I could have done a better job than she did. I usually love the blow outs I get after my hair is cut because the hair is smooth and full of body. My hair was flat and boring. I had considered having her do my hair for my wedding but decided that if she couldn't do a decent blow dry she probably couldn't do an up do. Once the cut was completed she took me to the front to check out. When I told the receptionist I had an appointment for make up she said 'Oh. Well, I don't see it and there isn't anyone here to do it. Do you want to make an appointment for another day'? When I scheduled the appointments I confirmed that I wanted both, and when I told there wouldn't be a problem I assumed both were booked. I had even told the woman booking the appointments that I live out of STATE and am only up on some weekends. I will not rebook any appointments with Ame, fearing that I would make a three hour trek to be told 'sorry- it didn't make it on the books'. Not worth the visit- unfriendly staff, poor service, and unreliable scheduling make this salon the worst I have ever visited! I'll be finding another salon once my move to PA is final. read more

Oh, and I got my haircut there for the first time a few weeks ago by Ericka (I think that was her name)... she did a pretty good job and gave me some good advice for my hair dilemmas. Yikes! My beloved local spa seems to have gone downhill in a big way...the locker room was dirty with used q-tips and used flip flops lying around, and (Ew!) used wash cloths left in the shower. I paid $100+ for a facial listed for 75 minutes - it started late and ended after an hour. And the aesthetician for what felt like 10 minutes in the middle while the goop on my face got cold and slid off. What a bummer. read more

I've been to this salon several times but had not tried their services. I recently went and had a cut and color. I found it to be a great experience. Everyone was very friendly and I'm very satisified with the outcome. I was looking for a change from my old place and can confidently say that I found it with Ame Salon! Scheduling was very easy and convenient with my schedule and the atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing. I highly recommend the salon and look forward to giving the spa a try in the near future! As far as prices go, I think you do get what you pay for. If you want a cheap cut .. go to Cheap Cuts or Hair Cuttery. If you're looking for something more, this is a great place to try. I used to frequent Jean Madeline and have gone there for years. My stylist left and I've been in limbo every since. As far a prices go, Ame is no more expensive than Jean Madeline but I feel the quality of the stylists far exceeds at Ame. The cost for coloring is almost identical for what I paid at Jean Madeline but I didn't have to fight the mall parking lot and truck through the mall to get to the salon. Oh, and I've never been offered a beverage at Jean Madeline before, not that it's a big deal but I think Ame is a bit more upscale than the mall. read more

Although the decor is nice, there's nothing much underneath. I was given a gift certificate for this place and ended up getting a couple of massages and a haircut. When I made my appt. I asked for the one masseur (male) because I prefer deep tissue massage. In my experience few masseuses (females) have enough strength to give a good deep tissue massage. When I showed up I was handed over to a young women-and was told the masseur wasn't working that day. Same with the second. Why bother to make an appt? The massages were forgettable. The haircut was something I could have got at Cheap Cuts. Perhaps it would be a better experience for a woman, but I'm skeptical. read more

I haven't used any of the spa services, but I've been getting my hair cut at Ame for about two years now and have been very happy overall with my experience. I've had two different stylists but have mostly seen CeeCee, and she is wonderful! She talked me into getting blunt bangs again and I was complimented like crazy after that cut and have never looked back. She also styled my hair for my engagement pictures; they could only get me a morning appointment, but 6 hours later when we did pictures my hair still looked great! The salon is always clean and bustling, and they don't push products on you like at some other places. Yes, it's a bit expensive, but this is the main line, and I'm happy to find a cut for under $40. Oh, and it's a very short walk to/from the Wayne train station, so it's accessible by Regional Rail if you can't drive there. A couple of cons, though. First, there is no free parking. I usually park at the municipal lot with the parking meters across the way, but on two occasions have found it completely full (due to lots of people dining out in Wayne, I'm sure), forcing me to drive in circles until something opened up, and making me late for my appointment. Also, the front desk staff can sometimes be a little icy, making the waiting atmosphere a little less than welcoming. Overall, I will miss Ame and CeeCee when I move out of the area next month! read more

I would recommend this place for any of the following: pedicures, highlights or haircut. First of all, the place is huge so there is a room for everything, including a nice sized waiting room. I would say my favorite experience was getting the peppermint pedicure special they had going on in January. The polish was painted on perfectly, and my feet were refreshed and super soft afterwards. It was so quiet and peaceful (weekday afternoon), and the room upstairs where I had the pedicure was cozy and clean. Plenty of magazines and soothing music. The highlights and haircut I got were also great. I can't remember her name but my stylist truly listened to what I wanted and provided me with recommendations for shampoos and whatnot. read more

Deep tissue massage with Jackie- do it. I've had massages up and down the East Coast, and this was the best one yet. Plus, it was only $110 for a full hour! I usually prefer male masseuses because I like A LOT of pressure, but Jackie beats them all. You start with a foot soak for which you get to choose from essential oils, flower petals, and such, which felt glamorous. You're sitting in a chair during it, so Jackie and I chatted a bit. She is very sweet and extremely knowledge about massage therapy, health, and nutrition, so not only did I come out relaxed and pain free, but also with some very valuable advice. After the foot soak, I was moved to the table for the massage. The only time Jackie spoke during the massage was to ask me if the pressure was all right and to tell me to turn over - and that was perfect because I do not care for chatty masseuses. I just want to lay there, be pampered, feel the knots dissolve away, listen to the tranquil music, and wish that this could last forever... read more

I have been going to Ame for almost a decade. They are amazing at coloring and the haircuts last forever. Meaghan has been cutting my hair for many years and always does an excellent job. She has also colored my hair in the past and it always looks so natural. Besides myself, my mom, sister and boyfriend all go to Ame to get their haircut. Been here 3 times, first time it was great!! The last two ehh.... let me start off saying the massage therapist are awesome!!! Idk what the deal is with that front desk. The second time I went I got a massage and after the massage I was supposed to get an eyebrow waxing. They told me after my massage to go sit in the relaxation room and wait for The lady who was supposed to wax my eyebrows. I waited upstairs at your massage for almost a half an hour until I went downstairs to ask how much longer I'll be waiting. They then told me to go sit back upstairs and then find the lady and wait another 15 minutes. I did not get my eyebrows waxed, they apologized. The last time I went, I parked on the side guess when I parked I didn't pull up far enough (everyone makes mistakes) well i don't know who she was but she yelled at me and lectured me... I went from being relaxed (after being really stressed, why I got a massage) back to being stressed again... wanted to get out of there after that, it was very uncomfortable. Basically paid $115 to get stressed. I will advise people who go there not too! read more

I am completely torn about this salon... Yes, the people that work there seem to be a little snotty especially the ladies that work at the front desk. I always feel uncomfortable when I walk in the salon but I am from Orange County in Southern Cal so I can handle that part. I see Amanda, she is super nice and I love how my hair looks when I leave however, I pay top dollar to see a "Director level Stylist "(Amanda) and half of the time she is not even the one working on my hair... When I go in for my roots to be touched up she does not even touch my hair... the assistants do it all ( I have only gone in for a touch up twice and I was so nervous that someone was doing my color that had not been to beauty school that now I try to never go in for a touch up ). The only part that Amanda will do is apply the color for my highlights ( her assistants come in after and apply the base color) and my cut. In addition I hate paying $275+ for cut and color to be "squeezed" in-between clients, the salon should do a better job of managing Amanda's time and respecting her clients. The part that I am torn about is, why do I pay top dollar to see this experienced stylist when she hardly does any of the work. It makes me so mad when I am there and, every time I leave I don't want to go back but this is the first place I have found that actually does a good job on my hair so I am kind of stuck until I can find a new place that does as good of a job where the stylist that I actually pay for will do most of the work. I have been to a ton of high-end salons and I have never experienced this problem. I completely understand that stylists have assistants to help when they are busy but they should not be doing most of the work on my hair. So, long story short Amanda is FANTASTIC, she knows what she is doing, she listens to exactly what I want so I would give her actual work "5 STARS" HOWEVER considering the fact that I pay for HER TO DO THE WORK AND SHE DOES SO LITTLE I would give the price of her and the actual salon "2 STARS" at best. read more

Just moved to the Philadelphia area and came here to get highlights, lowlights and a trim. Receptionists were not very friendly, either on the phone or in person. The cut turned out well, and the hairdresser was nice enough but didn't seem to listen to what I wanted overall for my hair; I asked that the color stay darker and simply touch-up the highlights. She made the color about four shades lighter instead. When checking out, I was surprised to see that the bill was about $100 more than what I've payed anywhere else. (And I have lived in a resort town for 20 years!) After leaving I also learned that the "complementary" shampoo for first-time customers was charged on my card. OVERALL: If you're going to Ame Salon, expect to pay exorbitant prices for average hair care, and make sure to check the receipt as they will likely try to rip you off. read more

Been here twice - both times because someone gave me a gift certificate. First time not impressed by any means. I thought I would get a great "wow" cut. Second time I was butchered. Not only did my hair cut make no absolute sense - it was horribly uneven. I can't believe for a salon on the main line charging $60-75 for a master cut that this is what you get. Shameful! Beautiful facility with a very calming atmosphere. The masseuses knew what they were doing and were very professional, and the steam shower afterwards felt so luxurious. My husband and I went for the couples massage in the loft on the top floor and we both thoroughly enjoyed our experience. It definitely isn't cheap, but also not as ridiculous high-priced as other similar spas in the Philadelphia area. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a much needed day of relaxation. Very disappointed with first and last experience with Ame. Booked an appointment after a friend referred me. Showed up at scheduled time to learn scheduler had put me in for the following week. I couldn't be accommodated and left very disappointed after traveling 45 min to get there. Person who relayed news to me was apologetic and offered a $10 coupon for my next visit. Not enough to convince me to patronize them. Looking for a long term hair salon after my former stylist moved out of state. First impression convinced me this wasn't the solution for me. read more

Today I had an aroma therapy massage with Alyssa at Ame. The receptionist greeted me cheerfully, I was shown to the changing room , then offered snacks or water while I waited. Today many other women must have decided to also get their spa services before the holiday-it was very busy and at one point the dressing room was full! However, Ashley was a wonderful massage therapist- she responded to my request and worked on trigger points to help relieve knots in my back and neck .It was overall a very soothing and healing experience and i hope to return soon. read more

Had an AMAZING experience today at AME Spa- after a long hard week of being 9 months pregnant, it was exactly what I needed. First of all, the staff was so nice and even though I ran a bit late, were fine with it. I got a pre natal massage with Nicole and a remedy facial with Jackie. Both were incredible and a step above other treatments I've gotten in the area. Last but not least, I easily could've stayed in their shower for days!! It's a small spa, so I wouldn't suggest spending all of your day there- but for a couple of hours or even just a small treat it is totally worth it. I have been taking my daughter here since we moved from center city to Wayne to get her haircuts last summer who is 5. I tried to make appointment for my two daughters 4 and 5 for a hair cut. They both have waist length hair. They told me they don't take children under 6 even though she's been going almost a year. This should have been mentioned to me before our very first visit and the staff working there should be properly educated on policies. Anyway, my girls are really well behaved and carry on far less than many of the "over 6" adult clients I saw there talking loudly about personal matters on their cell phones!! Maybe that should be a policy:) Anyway, just annoyed by the unprofessional tacky way they handled the matter. I am going to take them back to our center city salon which is a top rated salon in the city and doesn't seem to have a problem cutting a 5 year olds hair. I have been going to Ame for over a year now for haircuts and blowouts. The stylist who does my hair is named Lindsay and she is FANTASTIC. I have long, thick, and curly hair and Lindsay knows how to cut it perfectly and is a total pro at blowing it out. I have been to several other salons in the Philadelphia area over the years and Lindsay does the best job! Lindsay has also done haircuts for my mom and my husband - both look great. She is very versatile and talented! As a whole, Ame salon is great - very accommodating hours and a nice atmosphere. read more

SUPER SNOBBY. Uppity untalented stylists. First of all the ladies (if you want to call them that) at the front desk are rude and barely acknowledge your presence, the assistants do the coloring (that I'm paying an arm and a leg for), and it seems like the stylists don't even have time for you or care about the results. You can hear them talking about the clients when they are in the back and it's very unprofessional. The salon itself is nice, but the staff is all but welcoming... The haircut was something I could have gotten at supercuts and had to go elsewhere and pay more to get it fixed. They do not even deserve the one star honestly. I got a blow out that cost me $70. The girl ERICA did not thoroughly blow dry or flat iron my hair. I left with frizzy hair in tears. Later, I called to speak to a manager to express my feelings and maybe get my hair redone, LAUREN was her name, she told me that my frizzy hair was my own problem! Hard to believe so much can change in six months. My sisters, mother and I booked services at this spa in May and had a wonderful experience so I decided to book a massage for myself as an after Christmas relaxation present to me. To put it mildly I was very disappointed. I booked the aromasoul massage - the same service I had experienced in May. I arrived 15 minutes early as requested and was taken upstairs to get changed and wait. The waiting area is very small - only two seats both of which were taken - one by a teenager who had gotten a pedicure - not sure why she was in the facial/ massage waiting area - so there was no where for me to sit and wait and I did wait quite a bit. In May the massage was done in the upstairs loft - a wonderful, secluded space for a massage. Today's massage was in a room across from the supply area for all of the estheticians. Throughout my massage I was treated to the sounds of cabinets slamming, loud conversations (apparently no one here knows what an inside voice is), water pouring and just general distraction - I have had less noise and a more pleasant experience in a strip mall Massage Envy or Hand and Stone massage location. May's massage started with a wonderful foot soak - no foot soak this time. The bowl was on the floor but the masseuse did not even offer that service. In the description of the massage they say you will get a choice of three scented oils - I was given a choice in May but not this time. There was absolutely nothing special about the massage experience. I have had massages in top salons and in $49 locations and the massage and massage experience at this location was no better than a $49 massage for double that price. Finally at the end of the massage, I was basically rushed out the door. I did mention to the front desk that the room was totally unacceptable for a massage. I don't normally complain about these types of things but felt that they should be told that the massage experience in that room is not a relaxing one. I got a halfhearted sorry and nothing else. With all of the choices for massages out there, this is not one that I would recommend going to. It's a shame that my last experience was so different than my first one but that's why it will be my last experience at Ame Salon and Day Spa. read more

This place used to be great but now is just awful. I called to make an appointment and the receptionist was so rude I called back a few days later and got someone else. I scheduled 3 services and showed up 15 minutes early as advised to have time to change. My massage was 10:45 so when it was few minutes after this I asked one of the girls to see what happened to Lauren. She came back very rushed saying that nobody had checked me in so she didn't know I was there. Since I had two services scheduled after this she had to cut my massasge to 30 minutes and it was awful. She said she would let the front desk know to charge me less and apologized. The mani and blowout were just ok so when I went to checkout I expected them to already be on top of the situation and be ready to offer the massage complimentary. The person I spoke to was a manager and acted as if this was no big deal and that she "thought" I might be able to get a $15 credit for their error. I was so annoyed I told her I would not be coming back and she could use the $15 to tip the girl. She proceeded to give me a hard time so I left...needless to say I will never be going back! You can get any of these services anywhere so why would you pay top dollar for bad service? Plus you have to pay for parking read more
