My favorite people. I had an issue last year in regards to a modification I went through in 2017. Owed a lot of money to the IRS. I looked around for someone to help, went in to Ameri Tax. So I've never gotten my taxes done professionally. I've always either done them myself, or had family members do them. Since I was my own tax person and never really got big returns, I figured I'd fire the old girl and get me some professional help. Time was getting closer and closer to the dreaded 15th. This place is a block away from my house, I always see their statute of liberty person waving me down, I got a coupon post it on my door and it was my day off right before tax day. So I said "what the hell." I got to meet a very nice lady who was preparing my taxes (mind you it was only a few forms). We had a great convo about life, jobs, pitiful savings APRs, and the like. The most I've ever paid anyone to do my taxes was... well how much is dignity worth? Eh, that's a different story.. but for the *most* part, the most i've paid is $40. So when she told me that my total was $220 (with the $65 coupon post it on my door), I screeched. I mean, could I have come up with the same nice looking return that they say I'll be getting? I don't know, but damn, I'm sure sorry I didn't try to do them myself first. Or even but Turbo Tax or whatever. I think I'm smart enough to figure it out. No? Yes? eh.. guess I'll find out next year. Either way, I don't regret paying that money. It's a hard lesson learned.. well not too hard since I am getting a nice return back. But still, my philosophy is: "why spend money when you don't need to." Period. read more

I have used Ameritax in Massachusetts for the past few years. Last year, 2020, I was notified by the IRS that there was an error on my 2019 Federal tax form and I owed $364.74. The employee, Mimi of Ameritax who had done my taxes, immediately located the error. It was her mistake and she now owed the IRS. This was July, 2020. I had two more notices after that although Mimi kept insisting she had paid. I was doubtful so this year, I had HR Block do my taxes. They came up with a $45 refund which the IRS subtracted from the original sum that Mimi had obviously never paid. I paid the new amount and then conversations went back and forth between me, Ameritax and Mimi who kept saying the check was in the mail. Over all of this months, Ameritax insisted that all they owed me, if Mimi never paid, was the penalty and the interest charges. Mimi never paid me back and Ameritax never paid me the penalty and the interest charges. I've given up but am warning everyone. read more

I have going to this location for years. The staff is always nice and Joe the manager is awesome. I would come in with my w2 or 1099s and he would ask a few questions and bingo all done. This is the way to get your taxes done. Turbo tax says you can talk to a live person but I like to be able to meet with a live person that can answer any of your questions now and show you how and why you did or did not get a refund from the IRS. read more
